Communication across ICT-based health and social products in the home, in hospitals, at GPs, in home care services... 3 Challenges Telemedical projects develop their own ad-hoc infrastructure solutions. Telemedical solutions are few and expensive Cost and lack of transparency prevent SMEs from developing components/modules for telemedical solutions 3

What are the challenges in furthering the interaction between public and private initiatives within healthcare ICT? Are open source, software ecosystems and app stores part of the possible solution to the above mentioned challenges? 12
