2 Role of OKTVF Operates registries defined in legislation Provides data generated during the activities of the OKTVF, required by the minister for the purposes of governmental work Contributes to data management, information tasks in connection with the operation of the environmental information system Co-operates with the Ministry in the implementation of international reporting tasks connected to the establishment and operation of the PRTR in the operation and further development of information systems developed in order to support the implementation of the reporting 2

3 Main data managements and their structure 1. Tasks carried out as an individual task Data-processing prescribed in national law (linked to national and international reporting obligations and to support the daily authority work) Clients, operators must supply environmental data typically once a year Data-collection covers Hungary s area Processing of the data is supported electronically Registers, databases are mainly independent from the OKIR Part of the databases and registers are public 2. EU ETS Regular data on CO 2 -emissions according to Decision 2007/589/EC HUNETDATA (Hungarian Permitting, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification ) system records data regarding national CO 2 -emissions and permitting procedures part of them is available for the public Data collection on the installations under the scope of Directive 2003/87/EC with varied frequency, used as a part of the permitting procedure Registration (and publication) of EU ETS and JI verifiers Collection and registration of data necessary for the operation of the National Registry according to Regulations 994/2008/EC and 2216/2004/EC in connection with the ITL and CITL centres 4

12 Experiences, suggestions Need for coherent and streamlined environmental legislation at national and EU level e.g. definitions, activities, differences between scope/type of data and information required Need for requirements which are predictable coherent requirements in the legislation, in the implementation guideline and in the software tool 12
