2 Mandate of UNOCT UNOCT has five main functions: 1. Enhance coordination and coherence across the 38 CTITF entities to ensure balanced implementation of the four pillars of the Strategy; 2. Provide leadership on the General Assembly counter-terrorism mandates entrusted to the SG from across the UN system; 3. Strengthen the delivery of UN counter-terrorism capacity-building assistance to Member States 4. Improve visibility advocacy, and resource mobilization for UN counterterrorism efforts; and 5. Ensure that due priority is given to counter-terrorism across the UN system and that the important work on PVE is firmly rooted in the strategy 2

Improving Visibility, Advocacy, and Resource Mobilization In 2018, UNOCT has: Developed a Communication & Visibility Strategy Issued numerous press releases, media interviews and video messages Organized 6 Events with the Secretary-General to raise visibility of UN CT and PCVE Efforts Need for predictable, sustainable and diverse funding In 2019, UNOCT will launch the first Consolidated Multi-Year Donor Appeal 11

Prioritizing CT and Ensuring PCVE is rooted in the GCTS UNOCT Consistently worked to raise the profile of cross-cutting terrorism issues Strengthened engagement with the field Partnership with UNDP on the Global PCVE Programme Secretariat to the SG s PVE HLAG and chairs the UN interagency working group on PVE. 12
