2 GHRSST GHRSST mission: To provide operational users and the science community with the SST measured by the satellite constellation GHRSST provides a framework for SST data sharing, best practices for data processing and a forum for scientific dialog, bringing SST to the user.

6 Status LEO PMW AMSR2 main workhorse Products available in GHRSST L2P format from JAXA and RSS Status Sub-critical need redundant capability for global data Activities on-going Working to bring CMA and NSOAS into GHRSST Need GOVST to stress the importance of redundant capability of global PMW SST to funders Recommendation is being put to CEOS plenary this week; joining up with P-VC (precipitation) on common interest Report to CGMS

7 Status GEO IR Geostationary constellation well supported GOES, MSG, Himawari-8 Data available in L2P from many agencies Status Sub-critical data gap in Indian Ocean Activities on-going Continued discussions with ISRO Contacts being followed up with CMA, ROSHYDROMET and KMA METEOSAT-8 now over Indian Ocean SST status TBD Launch of GOES-R on 4 th November 2016

10 Request to GOVST Next generation geostationary sensors provide data every 10 to 15 minutes across the full disk Should data be provided as L2P, i.e. at native temporal resolution L3C, i.e. binned to (for example) 1 hour L2P L3C GOVST is requested to provide GHRSST a recommendation for supporting operational oceanography
