2 SECURITY AND CONTINUITY VAULT BUILT INTO SOLID FINNISH GRANITE OFFERS AN EXTRAORDINARY STARTING POINT Datavault Kanavuori is a high security datacenter operated by TNNet Oy. Located in central Finland the site is safely set aside from many critical concentrations of ITinfrastructure making it an ideal choice for safe secondary site or secure primary site. Originally a site for Finnish Defense forces, Kanavuori is known for its high physical security. The site is dug in a mountainside with at least 7 meters of rock between the datacenter and outside world. We have the benefit of being underground, while not being submerged. Site floor level is at least 6 meters above highest known highwater marks for the area. Hard Finnish granite offers a high degree of protection against both environmental and manmade dangers. The facility is built in reinforced concrete tubes inside multiple 12x130 meter mined caverns. Each of these caverns are separated by thick granite layer between them. This allows each of them to function as a separate containment area for fire and other possible issues. Sturdy reinforced concrete vault about half is actual IT-equipment area. This area can host up to 1MW of redundant capacity. Total facility size is square meters. Video surveillance is monitored both by ourselves and by a security company. We currently have 600 square meters of datacenter area in production. Out of which 24/7/365 surveillance

We are happy to help our customers in their certification processes. We have designed our own site operations to be as transparent and easy to audit as possible. Active datacenter rack block Continuous operation and security of ITequipment hosted at the site is guaranteed. The site can go undergo maintenance and failures without causing downtime to customer equipment. All critical systems are redundant and in our own control (transformers, cooling, backup power). Critical site systems run in 2n or 2(n+1) configuration. In addition to the benefits provided by the site itself, Finland offers a politically and environmentally stable location that is hard to surpass: ŸLow chance of environmental catastrophe ŸStable society, low crime rate and corruption ŸOne of the most reliable national power grids in the world (Fingrid) In case of fire the datacenter is equipped with argon-based fire suppression system. Argon gas replaces most of the oxygen in the suppressed area. The level of oxygen will be low enough to douse any fire, but high enough for any people working on site to evacuate without danger of suffocation. As argon is inert gas, it will not react with any material inside the datacenter. Many other chemical fire suppressants may react to certain materials and leave acidic materials into the suppressed area. For us it is also important that argon is a common gas in atmosphere and causes no danger to the environment when released. Argon fire suppression

4 C O O L P O W E R, E F F I C I E N T LY DESIGNED FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT COOLING AND MASSIVE LOAD PER RACK CABINET Energy efficiency is one of the most important aspects of a modern datacenter. Many of the sites in existence suffer from severe capacity issues on power and cooling. The sites have not been designed for current levels of energy density. This usually prevents customers from utilizing their rackspace to the fullest. Datavault Kanavuori has been designed from the start with current demands in mind. The first area in production houses about 80 racks and they can utilize a fully redundant 1MW of electrical power and cooling. The system can manage up to 30kW of power per rack with an average of 12kW per rack. Cooling capacity is sized on par with the power systems. Cooling in the datacenter utilizes hot-aisle system and LCP units between cabinets. The system can direct cooling dynamically to the areas where it is Transformer and main switchboard room 1. most needed and run at minimal utilization in cooler areas. This allows for minimal overhead for datacenter cooling. Efficient site allows us to provide competitive pricing for electrical power. Comparing energy prices between sites is important, because it is one of the biggest price factors in datacenter services. Heat provided by the datacenter is not wasted, it is reused for heating rest of the facility. This leaves our cooling field to act mostly as a backup system for the facility heat pumps. For site extensions we also have an environmental permission to use the cool water of a nearby lake for the cooling of the site. This can be used as an inexpensive way to cool during peak load periods. 20kV switchgear

Our first area has been designed along Tier 3-requirements. This means n+1 for all systems, which allows maintenance or failure to happen in a single system without an issue, but not both. That is the baseline, but most of our systems are fully 2n or even 2(n+1). For example our UPS-systems are 2(n+1), because they are the last line of defense between electrical failures and critical customer equipment. This system could tolerate multiple component failures without causing any issues for our customers. Modular UPS system The datacenter has to keep running without an interruption at all times. Smallest issues in electrical or cooling feeds could lead to customer downtime or equipment failures. This means any equipment in the site has to be able to be maintained while keeping all the services online. Equipment failures do happen, so issues caused by them need to be prepared for. Preparedness stands for having enough redundancy to allow for all likely maintenance and failure scenarios to happen without an unexpected interruption to site All LCP units in the datacenter have dual electrical inputs and three independent fans

Ever growing amount of data and small or nonexistent backup windows pose hard requirements for data communications and storage systems. Virtualization and cloud services are now the norm. These systems require flawlessly working backend-systems and highly available network communications between hosts. Even small interruptions in networking may cause issues that are hard to correct. And that's before even taking the customer impact into consideration. This is why the customer needs to have a good selection of services and providers, so that he can find the best fit for his needs. We see our customers' ability of being able to select from multiple service providers for both fiber connectivity and ip-services as a very important aspect of our datacenter services. By offering a carrier neutral datacenter, we allow our customers to take advantage of the availability provided by multiple independent network infrastruc- Redundant network connection tures and routes. By having all of the top operators in Finland onsite with multiple fiber paths, we can guarantee that any of our customers can get optimal networking solution at a competitive price. All of the cabling between rack cabinets is done solely by our own staff using high quality modular cabling system. This allows us to keep total control and documentation of the cabling onsite. There are no undocumented excess leftover cables on our cable trays and there will not be any. Our customers are of course free to use the networking equipment of their choice and to do their own cabling inside their own cabinets. Only installations that extend outside of the cabinet are restricted.

7 INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIVIT Y MULTIPLE FIBER ROUTES AND OPERATORS OFFER RELIABLE CONNECTIVITY TO ANYWHERE Fast ip-connectivity to reach your existing and potential customers is a must. Datavault Kanavuori is uniquely placed for fast connectivity to both Europe and Russia. We have worked meticulously to be able to offer diverse local fiber routes to maximize network availability in our datacenter. We currently have five different fiber paths to our site and are working on providing sixth. There are plenty of different options for connectivity available from multiple operators: Ÿ capacity based L2 solutions that can run from 10Mbps to 10Gbps Ÿ DWDM from 1G to 100G Ÿ IP-transit Ÿ Internet capacity with provider supplied addresses Finnish government is also striving to provide equal level of options for international connectivity. There are multiple existing routes to Europe, Russia and Asia, but there's also a new C-Lion fiber route currently in production that will offer even faster latencies and more bandwidth between Finland and Middle-Europe in the first phase. Later phases extend this to Baltic countries, Russia and Asia.
