To plant seeds of process improvement, the Washington State Auditor s Office funded on-site Rapid Office Kaizen (ROK) training for select municipalities, which included Clark County. We will use a high energy, participatory simulation to show how some of the key Lean tools work. As time allows, the discussion will extend to the role of auditor with Lean process improvement. To keep it interesting, we will use wireless polling technology to gather responses and demonstrate how this can help during audit fieldwork. We will also discuss high liability operations and risk factors unique to law enforcement and their use in a risk assessment model. 3:30 4:20 Leveraging Law Enforcement Inspections/ Field of Study: Auditing (Governmental) Compliance Functions Mike Giammarino, LD Consulting LLC This session will provide auditors insight into the operations of a Law Enforcement Inspections Unit, as well as approaches to leverage line and staff inspections. Learning Objectives - After this training, participants will be able to: Understand ethical, operational and risk considerations in auditing the law enforcement environment. Understand forensic accounting, fraud investigations and detection and prevention methods. Understand applying Lean principles in an audit environment. Understand key concepts to promote effective leadership. Level of Knowledge: Overview. All levels of government auditors from director to entry level staff are encouraged to attend. CE: 16 CE available over two days Delivery Method: Group-Live Advance reparation: one required. This is a paperless training, and electronic training materials will be available to download or print prior to the event on the ALGA website. Free WiFi will be available in the training room. Attendance Requirements: In order to obtain CE credit for the session(s) that is attended, attendees will be required to submit attendance codes announced during the sessions to verify their attendance. The Association of Local Government Auditors is registered with the ational Association of State Boards of Accountancy (ASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the ational Registry of CE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CE credit.
