Roadrunner will primarily be used to ensure national security, but will also help scientists perform research into energy, astronomy, genetics and climate change. Due to the hybrid design, IBM engineers anticipated that Roadrunner will likely become the most energy efficient supercomputer in the world and consequently among the top systems on the Green 500 list. IBM already dominates the Green 500 list of the world's most energy efficient supercomputers, but Roadrunner takes that commitment to a whole new level. IBM Global CEO Study 2008 The sound barrier. The four-minute mile. The moon. So many milestones that once seemed unattainable are now written in the record books of human and technological achievement. Now IBM has added another to that list, the petaflop. IBM's latest Roadrunner System, is the first supercomputer to achieve performance at the petaflop level. Roadrunner is twice as fast as IBM's Blue Gene system, which has, at least until now, been the world's fastest supercomputer. Roadrunner is six times faster than our competition's systems. In today s globally integrated economy, CEOs are bombarded by change, can they handle it? According to IBM s 2008 Global CEO Study of 1,130 CEOs, which was conducted face-to-face in 40 countries, CEOs are battling to keep up with the pace of change. The study reveals that the number of organizations who have limited or no success at managing change is increasing faster than those organizations that are successful at it. This is surprising since more CEOs, 83 percent of them expect substantial change in the future, and are optimistic, they can successfully manage change. The ability to absorb and manage change is driving a wedge between winners and losers in the marketplace. In addition, CEOs were specific about where the most important change will occur within their own customer base as two classes of customers emerged; the information omnivore and the socially-minded customer. Of all the trends in the study, CEOs plan their most substantial increases in investments to reach these new customer sets. Understanding Web Application Security Threats-Hacking 101 IBM developer Works Live! Organized an event with hands on lab on Hacking Understanding Application Security Threats. The event was led by Gisele Consoline Do Couto, Certified IT Specialist, IBM Austria. The objective of this workshop was to highlight the importance of web application security in today's environment and also help security teams to understand how vulnerabilities in web applications are first exposed and then exploited by cyber-criminals to hack sensitive data. This also included discovering these web application vulnerabilities through a combination of manual and automated approaches using IBM Rational AppScan software. The event was attended by IBM customers. The training focused on service management which is an area with a lot of potential and many industries like financial, telecom, manufacturing are focusing on it and have included in priorities in This workshop also provided an effective way to manage their IT assets, SLAs etc. IBM WebSphere Application Server v6.1 Training IBM conducted a 5-days hands-on workshop on the industry leading application server, IBM WebSphere Application Server. This workshop was conducted in order to address the market need of trained IBM WebSphere Application Server resources. The participants were from the major banks in Pakistan that included Bank Alfalah, Meezan Bank Limited, NIB Bank Limited, Habib Bank Limited.
