5 Creating a Variable Variables can be created from the Form Design tab by clicking the Variables sub-tab 5

7 Using Form Variables SQL Variables Variables that are populated with a SQL Query and contain a dataset Useful for generating lists of PIDMs or pulling back a block of information about a student Manual Variables Cannot be populated via SQL Can be set and reset via On- Click events Useful for controlling visibility of objects on your form. 7

20 Manual Variables: Panel Visibility Visibility is controlled with the Visible property of each object Any object or form variable can be used to determine visibility NULL values will cause the visible property to return FALSE (invisible) and any non-null value will return TRUE (visible) 20

24 Manual Variables: Panel Visibility The Design Variable window gives choices of name, description, data type, and initial value. The panel will not be visible by default, so the Value field is left blank. 24

55 Drill-Through Charting Drill-Through charting allows a user to dig into the data displayed in a chart and see finer-grained details about a particular section Usually drill-through is chart-to-chart, but doesn t have to be Can drill-through as many levels as desired Drill-Through is facilitated by tying a value from a chart into the query of a different object 55
