2 General The application is developed using Microsoft.NET technologies. Software Requirements - Minimum client operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 - Travelport Smartpoint (if using Galileo as GDS) - Minimum server operating system: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 - Minimum database system: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (Express Edition possible), Management Studio installed Hardware Requirements There are no specific hardware requirements hence it strongly depends how the application components are placed on hosts. In general it is highly recommended to spend as much RAM as possible to the machine with SQL Server. BizTravel.NET Business Travel Software 2 / 5

3 Application Architecture The BizTravel application consists of four parts: The client application itself, a small windows service, the database and a shared network path. All of these components can be on the same machine or can be placed on several hosts depending on your existing infrastructure. There is also a small application called Update.exe which allows the client to perform an auto update. BizTravel Application The client application consists of two programs: The BizTravel Client which is used by all users and the BizTravel Administrator which is used to specify and define system data and parameters, such as Departments, Users, Interfaces and Options. BizTravel Service This service acts as a controlling component to validate licence, grant/deny access to application, counting concurrent workstations and inform running client applications about modified data. It also runs the interface processes as well as data updates. On the machine where you plan to set up the service it is necessary to install the client application first. The communication from the client application to the service is done by TCP port 5499 by default. It can be changed via a registry entry. The Database The database is held by an SQL Server and contains all dynamic data used by the application. For backup procedures you need to make sure that this database is backed up regularly. Everything else can be restored by a new installation. For a fresh setup you need the SQL Management Studio to restore the delivered setup database. It is possible to use the free Express Edition of SQL Server. It is in the responsibility of the customer to trace the exceedance of the given limits of the free edition. For example max. 10GB size of database. It is possible to configure BizTravel using either SQL Server user authentication or Windows authentication. If you want to use the SQL Server user authentication the SQL Server needs to be configured in Mixed Mode. In the BizTravel Administrator you can create two users (Client and Administrator) whose connection strings are delivered to the client application. If you want to use Windows Authentication you need to create an appropriate user login based on a windows login for each user which wants to use BizTravel. Network Share The network share holds a directory structure with files used for setup a client application as well as files for the auto update procedure of the client application. It can be placed somewhere in the network and shared to users as well as somewhere below an existing network share. It is not necessary to assign a drive letter. Users need minimum read rights and Administrators need full access (both Share and Directories). BizTravel.NET Business Travel Software 3 / 5

4 Hand shakings There are several hand shakings between the BizTravel client application and the BizTravel service. As soon as access to the application is granted, the client application receives host name, database name and authentication mode from the service and builds the appropriate connection string to access the database. From this moment the client application deals with the SQL Server (Database) directly based on the specified authentication mode. This is done via TCP port 1433 and 1434 by default. If you use the mixed mode access, parameters like user name, password, etc. are transmitted over the network using 256 bit AES encryption. Application Start The first call to the BizTravel Service is asking for readiness. On the first start of the client application after setup and for every login name separately, BizTravel does not know the server name of the BizTravel service. It will tell you that connection to BizTravel Service failed and asks you for a host name and a port number. You need to enter the correct host name and port number to establish a connection to the BizTravel Service. This information can also be provided to the user delivering a registry entry during windows login procedure. The next call is asking for workstation acceptance. This depends on license and number of workstations. It does only apply if you don t have an unlimited workstation license. Having workstations accepted the client application asks for the common path (Network share of BizTravel). It then compares the file versions of the local installation and the Update-Folder in the common path. If there are newer files the client application calls Update.exe to copy the files from the network share into the local application folder and restarts. For this procedure all users on the machine need Write/Modify rights to local program file folder of BizTravel. Application Usage The client application connects to the BizTravel Service every 15 seconds. The following actions are being done: - Refresh the workstation table - Receive the current licensing - Receive notifications about modified data (Users, Options, ToDos, Passports, Visas, etc.) BizTravel.NET Business Travel Software 4 / 5

5 Interfaces & Automation BizTravel Central The only interface which is used without to define an interval is the BizTravel Central interface. It s getting polled every 6 hours. The address is and is using port The BizTravel Central web service is using SOAP technology protected by SSL. The BizTravel Central interface is performing following actions: - Send event log entries of the last 10 days allowing us to initiate preventive steps - Receive the most current license status and configuration Automation There are a number of automation tasks such as Galileo & Sabre Ticket Street and Concur Profile Upload.
