5 EKG Story When an EKG istaken thefollowing data iscreated: Metadata, who,where, how etc. Personal data, patient, reason etc. The actual signal The interpretation Metadata, like who did the reading, when etc. The diagnosis Most of the above data is largely ignored in today s systems The data goes dark, never looked at again The data doesn t stay with the patient for future reference Rarely are comparative evaluations conducted Only if the provider ( doctor ) and patient remain in a longer term relationship 8/27/18 5

7 EKG Story (Cont.) Nowimagine the following: An EKG is taken and the data gathered is immediately stored in the EKG block chain of the patient The patient agrees and insists on that. From now on the patient owns the data The personal data is instantly encrypted and the patient simply becomes a number ( hash ), known to the patient, nobody else. The metadata is added automatically, verified, completed, augmented, and referenced Think of it as a super tagging of the data Tagging can be encrypted, hashed, for anonymity The signal is looked at by an AI and those conclusion are automatically added to theresults. The actual signal, the AI conclusion, and the context derived from the tags is made available to the clinicians and physicians The next time a patient gets an EKG, such EKG is the next block in the chain The signal, its diagnosis, and metadata also becomes part of the providers block chain 8/27/18 7

8 EKG the Next Step After a year a hospital like MBR will have generated close to 100,000 EKGs Within the system this will add up to 2 M The EKGs are now immutably linked to patients, doctors, outcomes etc. The EKGs are also linked to other data creating events like an MRI via the patient hash as well as the tagging. Tagging by itself can be based on a hash as well to guarantee anonymity of the provider, doctor, etc. Such a database would be of great value to: The patient to see progress, get a second opinion Insurance Researchers Operational excellence departments 8/27/18 8
