2 Getting Started with CDATA SAP ODBC driver CDATA Overview: The CData ODBC Driver for SAP 2015 allows you to access data from SAP using the standard ODBC interfaces. The driver abstracts the underlying data source into tables, views and stored procedures that can be used to retrieve data. What is BAPI? Business Application Programming Interface(BAPI) are standardized programming interfaces (methods) enabling external applications to access business processes and data in the R/3 System. They provide stable and standardized methods to achieve seamless integration between the R/3 System and external applications, legacy systems and add-ons. BAPIs are defined in the BOR (Business object repository) as methods of SAP business object types that carry out specific business functions. They are implemented as RFC-enabled function modules and are created in the Function Builder of the ABAP Workbench. Some BAPIs and methods provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP Business Objects. These are called STANDARDIZED BAPI's. OBJECTIVES: 1) BAPIs are well-defined, internally consistent units that represent a business relationship. 2) The business contents can be standardized, since BAPIs not only allow the integration of the SAP system and other software components at a technical level, but also at the business level. 3) BAPIs are becoming a communication standard between business systems. Access is possible through object-oriented interface technologies (such as COM/DCOM from Microsoft). The SAP business objects conform to the guidelines of the OAG (Object Application Group), and meet the CORBA standard from the OMG (Object Management Group). 4) Stability and compatibility Once SAP has released a BAPI, its interface definitions and parameters will remain stable in the long term, which means application programs will not be affected by changes to the underlying SAP software or data. If upward-

3 compatible enhancements are made to the BAPIs, the stability of the existing applications is not affected. 5) Openness BAPIs can be accessed from any widespread development platform. The Endian Type will be under the RFCSI_EXPORT structure in column RFCINTTYP. It should display LIT (IntType=0) for Little, and BIG (IntType=1) for big. To know what logical destination you need to pass here, Open S AP Logon System status. The value printed under Host data that says Server Name is what you'll enter for the Destination. Design a Custom SAP Function Module to Circumvent RFC_READ_TABLE Limitations The CData SAP Data Providers enable you to use data access standards to retrieve live S AP data. While the SAP S DK provides the RFC _READ_TABLE for accessing data from SAP tables, using it to select data is limited to 512 bytes at a time, so you may not be able to retrieve all columns, at first; you can resolve this limitation by defining a custom function module that will allow you to select any result set you need. You can follow the steps below for any CData driver technology:

4 How to Create BAPI? STEP 1: On the (development/quality) server of SAP, enter tcode SE37. STEP 2: After entering code, user will get following screen.

5 STEP 3: Then in order to create function group, user will click on goto menu ->Function Group->Create Group. STEP 4: Then user will create function group with the name Z_Web_Services and Short text can be any user defined name (demo, test, MyReport etc.). In Person Responsible user will take the name of required table from customer side.

6 STEP 5: Then user will need to take the package name from customer. STEP 6: Then user will need to go to the menu option Function Module->other functions- >copy.

7 STEP 7: In next window, user will fill the details to copy function module Z_CUSTOM_READ_TABLE.(use Z_Custom_read_table instead of Z_RFC_read_table)

8 STEP 8: On the Attributes tab of the SAP screen, select "R emote Enabled Module".

9 STEP 9: On the Tables tab, set the DATA parameter to "C HAR 8000" (you may need to right-click and then click "Display <-> Change"): STEP 10: On the Source Code tab, paste the example source code for the replacement RFC _READ_TABLE function module located in the "db" subfolder of the installation directory. The source code is located in Z_CUSTOM_READ_TABLE.txt. Click Save.

11 STEP 11: Then under system DSN tab, user will have to configure SAP Cdata driver. STEP 12: While configuring the SAP CDATA driver, user will have to pass following credentials details: -Host ID -Language -System No -Page Size -Client ID -Read Table -User Name -Password -System ID -LOC -Log -Endian
