The Scribe Insight installation includes all of Scribe s adapters. 2 Instructions for installing Scribe Insight are included on page 4 of these release notes. You may be required to restart the computer as part of the installation process. Please plan accordingly. What s new in version New features 64-bit support This version of Scribe Insight is compatible with Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard and Enterprise x64 Editions. Scribe Insight will run on the Windows on Windows 64 (WOW64) x86 emulation layer. Enhanced address formats supported during registration Previously, many valid addresses were not being recognized during the registration process. The registration process now supports a wider variety of valid address formats. Term license registration Some term-based licenses were erroneously failing during registration. Users received a message that the serial number was not on a valid maintenance agreement. Fixes Using datatype Integer in XSD shows up as read-only. This issue has been fixed. Case There is no way to uninstall DataDirect drivers if setup process is cancelled. This issue has been fixed. Not all Scribe services starting properly after registration is completed. This issue has been fixed. Scribe services don't start and inappropriately throw errors if MSMQ is not installed. This issue has been fixed. Release Notes Scribe Insight

3 What s new in version 6.3 New features Easier to use installation program The new Scribe Insight installation program combines all adapters and core product into one installation. Key pre-requisites are also included as part of the installation. Product registration wizard A new product registration wizard guides users through registering their copy of Scribe Insight. Unlock codes are now automatically entered for licensed products (users no longer need to wait for an e- mail confirmation and then copy and paste unlock codes). Enhanced update management A new, more robust update manager lets users configure when updates and critical messages for Scribe Insight and adapters are retrieved from Scribe. To open the update manager, click Program Updates ( ) on the Programs menu or Control Panel. The update manager may be managing updates for other programs on your computer as well as Scribe s. The Check for Product Updates command has been removed from Scribe products. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Installs Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition rather than MSDE. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition brings improved administrative capabilities when managing the database. Fixes Choosing a schema for the XML adapter in the wizard does not make the Next button available and does not generate an error. 4 Known issues Calculated variable that references target used in source query cause workbench to stop responding. Case DBLOOKUP caching results. This issue will be considered in a future release Interface error when source query is used with comments. This issue will be considered in a future release XML Adapter - Not all source rows processed when connection reused. A fix for this issue is being considered for the next release When connecting to MySQL data sources, OLE DB adapter does not work with date-based system variables. A workaround to resolve this issue is available, contact Scribe support for details. A fix for this issue will be considered in a future release Files larger 128,000 bytes truncated when using native SQL adapter. Using the ODBC adapter to connect to a SQL data source resolves this issue. This issue will be considered in a future release , 21162, Special Characters do not work with the bridge. A work around using attachments rather than the message body solves this problem. Contact Scribe support for further details. A fix for this issue will be considered in a future release Contacts not populating Outlook Exchange. This issue will be considered in a future release. Upgrading to Scribe Insight Before installing Scribe Insight 6.3.1, locate your serial number. Scribe Insight requires you to register the software and you will need your serial number to register. Scribe Insight enforces the software license that allows you to use a serial number on only one Scribe Insight server. Verify that you Release Notes Scribe Insight

5 are not using the same serial number to register more than one Scribe Insight server. 1. Pause all integration processes, bridges, publishers, and monitors. 2. Wait for all pending data to be processed by your Insight server. 3. Stop the five Scribe services. 4. Back up the SCRIBEINTERNAL database using the appropriate Microsoft SQL Server management tools. 5. Back up all the files related to your integrations. These could include DTS files, scripts,.ini files. These are typically saved in C:\Program Files\Scribe\Collaborations\ and its subfolders. 6. Make a note of the user name and password used by Scribe Insight to connect to the SCRIBEINTERNAL database. If you have changed the default password for the SCRIBE user, you will need to know the new password to reconnect to the database when installing Scribe Insight Both the user name and password are case-sensitive. 7. Uninstall any existing Scribe Insight Server and adapters. Adapters must be uninstalled first. From the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. 8. If your SCRIBEINTERNAL database is using Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE), you must upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is included with the Scribe Insight installation. Read and follow Microsoft s instructions for upgrading from MSDE to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. You can find instructions in Microsoft s knowledge base here, 9. Install Scribe Insight Install your adapters. 11. Using Windows Computer Management or Active Directory tools, add a user to the Scribe Console Users group. 12. Restart the server. 13. Register the software by opening the Scribe Workbench and following the on-screen instructions. 14. Restart your integration processes, bridges, publishers, and monitors.
