1 Foxit PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta testing guide Listed below are the new features in PhantomPDF 6.0 Business, which we would like your feedback on: Note: The methods in which you can communicate your feedback to us are listed on the last page of this document. 1. Ribbon Toolbar (Newly designed Office 2013 type toolbar): Browse through tabs Home, Edit, Organize, Review, View and check if the functionalities (example - zoom, rotate, annotation etc.) under each tabs work accurately, are under the right menu tab, easy to navigate, and are intuitive. 2. Paragraph editing: Edit text in paragraphs with automatic text reflow and reformat. Choose Paragraph tool under Edit tab Click on the paragraph you want to edit Add/Remove text from the paragraph and see if the auto-adjustment within the text box occurs correctly. 3. Form Recognition and Design: Form recognition allows automatic recognition of input text fields and check boxes. Form design assistance enables adding fields with single click, based on the position of the mouse PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 1
2 with adjusted field size. In case you don t have a form to test this feature, you can use sample form file. Run form field recognition on the PDF with plain table as shown below. All the form fields will get highlighted in blue Delete the extra fields which software might have created Add new form fields (as shown below) if needed, change field name and edit properties by right clicking View the form fields and set Tab order in the Form Panel 4. Drag and drop page thumbnails in multiple PDF files: You can now drag and drop page thumbnails in page panel from different PDF files to insert pages; drag and drop pages on blank area to extract as new files. Check if drag and drop option is intuitive and easy to use. Open two or more PDF files and open the page panel (on the left) as shown below: PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 2
3 From the page panel choose the pages in File 1 you want to insert FROM and drag to the File 2 tab you want to insert TO. Drop the pages on the position you want, as shown below: PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 3
4 5. Edit scanned documents: Convert scanned images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text into machine-encoded text. This machine-coded text after conversion can be edited just like in a regular PDF Run OCR (Home tab) on scanned paper. If you don t have a scanned file handy, here is one for test purposes Wait for the OCR to be 100% complete, progress bar in bottom right corner: Edit the text in the OCRed file with paragraph or object edit tools: 6. View PDF Portfolios: View and print PDF portfolios, search keywords in PDFs in the portfolio. Check if viewing, printing, and searching in portfolio work seamlessly and are easy to navigate through the portfolio. Download a Sample PDF portfolio (preferably with files in other formats too). If you do not have a portfolio, here is a Sample Portfolio. Open it in PhantomPDF by right clicking and Open with Foxit PhantomPDF 6.0 Navigate through different files in the portfolio Click on search icon on top right corner, as shown below or press CTRL+SHFT+F: PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 4
5 For where would you like to Search, select - Search The entire PDF portfolio and type the search keyword in the search box: 7. Validate and Create PDF/A, PDF/E and PDF/X compliance: Verify if PDF files conform with ISO standards, including PDF/A for archiving, PDF/E for engineering, PDF/X for print production. Also convert the current PDF document to PDF/A, PDF/E and PDF/X standard. One home tab, choose Industry Standard from Compliance PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 5
6 Choose Convert to or verify compliance with any format in the list 8. Create self-signed digital ID: This feature allows to create a self-signed digital signature certificate (also called a digital ID), which can be used to sign document or encrypt document. Choose Place a signature in Protect Tab (Sign & Certify) PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 6
7 Drag and draw a rectangle as signature area If you have an existing ID you would like to use, select that. If not and you would like to create a new signature ID, choose New ID from the drop down list in Sign As field, as shown below. Choose New PKCS#12 digital ID file or Windows Certificate Store to create different kind of digital IDs. PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 7
8 Enter your identity information (in fields below) for the digital signature Check the signature preview to verify your signature details and click on Sign button to create your digital signature on the PDF document 9. Send to Evernote: Directly send current PDF document to Evernote as an attachment Pre requisites Should have Evernote account Download and install - PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 8
9 Open a PDF file and edit, if you would like to Choose Send to Evernote in the File menu on top left corner (shown below) You should get an import confirmation on the bottom right corner: 10. Print to Evernote: Print other file formats to PDF, and send to Evernote as an attachment. Test if the virtual Printer Print to Evernote works effectively and if the virtually printed PDF files can be attached to Evernote Pre requisites Should have Evernote account Download and install - Open a word or other format document Choose Print from File, and in Printer option select Print to Evernote. Print file You should get import message in bottom right corner, like shown below: PhantomPDF 6.0 Beta Page 9

Comment Summary: Create summary of comments, and set the layout, paper size, sort type, comment type, font size, and range of the summary report Test if the comment summary display is easy to comprehend and user friendly and if the functionality works well. Add multiple comments/notes on the document Choose Summarize Comments from Manage Comments under Review tab: Based on how you would like your comments to be summarized and displayed, choose layout type, paper size, sort type, etc. before creating summary (shown below): Check if you like the final display and format of your comments summary, if you want to change the display format, select other option as mentioned in previous step. 11 How to communicate your issues/feedback: You can report any issues by clicking on Beta feedback button the top right corner of Reader user page (as shown below):, visible at all times on You can also enter feedback directly through the link - Please select the issue type based on the type of problem you encountered: Bug: If you think the software is not acting as designed. Functional Issue: If you think the software is working but in not intuitive/user friendly or does not provide an effective workflow. Feature Request: If you would like to have a new feature requested. Crash: If the program stops responding or the system crashes. If you encounter a system CRASH at any time, please provide your feedback by clicking on link below and explaining at what crash occurred. Please select the issue type to be Crash in such case.
