The first section describes the new features that have been implemented on the technical side. > Multi Essence Configurations and XDCAM (Dual-codec encoding): offers the possibility to encode a record train in two different codec types at the same time, > Support of 1080p with native file interoperability > 3G SDTI (with XHub3) enables to transfer media over the XNet network at higher speeds than before, > New Supermotion (SLSM) Configurations > 10 GigE (via Gateway PC) to improve the transfer possibilities of media over an Ethernet network > Support of an additional Hypermotion Camera: FOR-A FT-One, > New 4K Configurations The next section describes the impact of these changes on the operator s side. MULTI ESSENCE CONFIGURATIONS AND XDCAM (DUAL-CODEC ENCODING) Introduction From Multicam 12, the XT3 and XS servers can encode, at the same time, a record train in two different codec types called

ENGINEERING FEATURES OF MULTICAM MULTI ESSENCE CONFIGURATIONS AND XDCAM (DUAL-CODEC ENCODING) Introduction From Multicam 12, the XT3 and XS servers can encode, at the same time, a record train in two different codec types called essences: Intra + LongGOP (XDCAM) or Intra + Proxy. This means that the possible essence configurations are as follows: > Intra + LongGOP > Intra + Proxy > Intra only > LongGOP only (*) NOTE: > Some specific hardware and software licence codes are required to activate these dual codec encoding possibilities. > All servers on the SDTI network need to be in the same codec configuration. Codec Settings in the Configuration Menu The Codec settings are available on the Server tab in the server-based application (1 st page) and web-based interface. They are not available from the Remote Panel. 4 User impact General Rules > We will only see one record train per record channel and one clip per LSMID even if the record trains and clips exist in several essences on the EVS server. > A single clip shall be identical in all available essences. > The Proxy essence cannot be used as a single essence on an EVS server. Recording and Editing Rules > When the server is configured in multi-essence mode, the clips will be created in each active essence. > In general, all editing actions on clips are applied seamlessly on all active essences of the clip. Playout Rules > Only one essence can be played out at a time. The codec used for playout is specified in the Server tab, after the codec sections. > When the Intra essence is in use on the server, this essence shall be played out. Otherwise, the LongGOP essence will be played out. > If the on-air essence is not available, a black clip shall be displayed. > The Proxy essence will never be played out. Transfer Rules > External applications shall use the Gigabit connection to access the media created for the Proxy essence on the EVS server. The SDTI network can only be used for access and transfer among EVS servers. Limitations > With LongGOP Codec When working with an SLSM configuration in multi-essence Intra + LongGOP, the LongGOP codec shall record the regular speed content (not SLSM) from Phase 1. > With Proxy Codec Dolby E is not supported in Proxy essence. If audio channels are configured in Dolby E in a multi-essence configuration with Proxy, the Proxy output will have no associated audio. Page 4 of 11

Three options are therefore possible: > Clearing the media on all video disks (full clear clip) > Clearing only the Intra clips (partial clear clip) > Clearing only the LongGOP clips (partial clear

5 Clearing Video Disks When we change the multi-essence configuration, we may also have to clear Intra, LongGOP clips, or all clips. The decision depends on the initial and the new multi-essence configuration. The table hereunder describes the various cases. Three options are therefore possible: > Clearing the media on all video disks (full clear clip) > Clearing only the Intra clips (partial clear clip) > Clearing only the LongGOP clips (partial clear clip) NOTE: The Lo-Res clips associated to Hi-Res clips will be cleared when we clear the clips of the on-air codec. Required and Optional Clear Clips when changing configuration When Required is specified in the following table, a full clear clip is required when we shift from the given source configuration to the given target configuration. When Optional is specified in the table, a partial clear clip is useful, but not required. It allows us to remove old material which we will no longer want to or be able to use, while keeping material corresponding to the still active essences P The new release of the Multicam software offers 1080p support with native file interoperability in 3G-SDI Level-A, 3G- SDI Level-B and Dual Link. This offers an improved interoperability, unlike the LSM only mode of the previous releases, in terms of backup of clips, restore of files to and from the servers for instance in 1080p G SDTI (WITH XHUB3) The 3G SDTI is proposed to operators to copy clips or use record trains via the XNet at higher speeds (2970 Mbps instead of 1485 Mbps). This new value can be selected for the Speed setting in the SDTI section of the Network tab. From now on the XNet network is not used anymore for external file transfer but exclusively to exchange media between EVS servers. Page 5 of 11

From Multicam 12.02, the XT3 and XS servers can be connected to an external gateway PC that offers a 10GbE connection to the network. The gateway PC emulates the Ethernet interface of the EVS server to the network. The Gigabit Gateway software can be installed as a standalone application on the gateway PC or, because the processing load is expected to be that low, another client software (e.g. XTAccess) can be installed next to it. The current 1GbE ports of the gigabit module will remain available on the EVS server. However, it will not be possible to use the external 10GbE and the internal 1GbE connections at the same time. On the other side, the gateway PC is connected to the network via an SFP+ module (fiber or triax) that provides the 10GbE connection. For more information, refer to the Manuals on EVS website: Configuration Manual and Hardware Technical Reference Manual HYPERMOTION CAMERAS An additional hypermotion camera is supported from Multicam on: FOR-A FT-One NEW 4K CONFIGURATIONS Introduction The 4K format available on the EVS server is called UHDTV (Ultra-High Definition TV). It is activated by setting the UHDTV-4K value for the Resolution parameter. In 4K, the image resolution is 3840 x A 4K image consists of four 1080p frames transported via four 3G-SDI links. Each 4K image therefore requires 4 physical channels in the EVS server. Requirements Some specific requirements need to be met in order to enable the 4K configurations. These are hardware- (H3X and V3X boards, HDD disks) and software- (license code and settings) related requirements. For more details about the requirements, refer to the Configuration Manual. Limitations Using the 4K mode also implies some limitations in terms of codecs, configurations, audio and functionalities. These are also described in the Configuration Manual. Assignment Principles A 4K image consists of four 1080p frames transported via four 3G-SDI links. Each 1080p frame of a 4K image is called an image quadrant. Each image quadrant is assigned to its corresponding 3G-SDI link in the following sequence: Page 7 of 11

NEW OPERATIONAL FEATURES OF MULTICAM CLIP MANAGEMENT IN MULTI-ESSENCE Introduction The multi-essence feature is supported on XT3, XS and XSnano servers when specific hardware and software conditions are fulfilled. See previous sections of this document. When the EVS server runs a multi-essence configuration (Intra+LongGOP; Intra+Proxy), or a LongGOP only configuration (*), the clips are managed in the same way as with an Intra only essence configuration. The multi-essence feature is as transparent as possible to the operator, who should therefore continue working as usual, whatever the active essence(s) CLIP TRANSFERS IN MULTI-ESSENCE Move: All essences of a clip are moved simultaneously. Local Copy: When a clip is copied to the same EVS server, all essences of the clip are copied. Network Copy: When a clip is copied to another EVS server, the rules explained in the table below are applicable to the copy action. With some essence combinations, the user can specify in which codecs the clip should be copied, by means of the Codec target setting (Multicam Configuration module, Operation page, Clip section) of the source server. In the Codec target setting, the user can choose between Intra or Intra+LongGOP. When the Proxy codec is active, it shall always be copied. (*) the LongGOP only configuration is not yet available in this version. It is planned with the next release of the Multicam in February. Page 9 of 11

10 Push The availability of the Push function and the essence pushed depend on the configuration, and are explained in the table below. With some essence combinations, the user can specify in which codecs the clip should be pushed, by means of the Codec target setting (Multicam Configuration module, Operation page, Push section) of the source server. In the Codec target setting, the user can choose between Intra or Intra+LongGOP. When the Proxy codec is active on the source and destination, it shall always be pushed PLAYLIST MANAGEMENT IN MULTI-ESSENCE In this case also, the multi-essence feature is as much as possible transparent to the operator. Playlist Playout When the LongGOP essence is the on-air essence, an available playlist element will not be playable if it is shorter than 1 second (*). Unavailable playlist elements, that means elements not available in the on-air essence, will be skipped in play mode. Unplayable playlist elements, that means elements shorter than 1 second, will be skipped in play mode. In this case, editing the playlist element by changing its speed or its IN and/or OUT points can make it playable (*). Playlist Editing The behavior with unavailable playlist elements will be as follows in Edit mode: > They will be displayed as "Unavailable" on the VGA. > They will be hidden on the Remote. Unplayable playlist elements will be displayed as "Unplayable" on the VGA and on the Remote in Edit mode. (*) the LongGOP only configuration is not yet available in this version. 11 3.4. 4K OPERATIONAL LIMITATIONS 4K Known Operational Limitations Currently some features are not available in 4K: > The Cam Mapping feature > The internal Loop > The Replace function > The Paint mode > The Split Screen mode > The internal and external Offside Line modes > Transition effects: > With a 1REC + 1PLAY configuration, the transition effects are only supported with mix-on-one-channel enabled > With a 1REC + 2PLAY configuration, transition effects are supported as a regular mix > File based ingest or backup 4.
