1 ASSESSMENT GENERATOR TUTORIAL CREATING ASSESSMENTS TYPE-BASED ASSESSMENT Use the Type-Based Assessment to score answers in different levels, groups, departments, types or classes. For instance, you might want to determine if a person is personality type A, B or C. Questions applying to the type A personality would all be scored together and so on. The end result will be that one score is higher than the rest, telling the user what his/her personality type is. Before you begin creating your assessment, if this is the first one you have created, it is recommended to create at least one category - but if you don t that s okay, you can create one during the setup process. Categories are a simple way to file your assessments in an organized manner. It is required to place your assessment in a category. See Creating Categories Tutorial. 1. From Your Home Page, choose Assessments 2. Choose add new Type-based to begin to create your new assessment. The set up is a three - step process, similar to setting up a Simple Assessment. The difference is that you will create your custom types or levels and you will choose the Chart Type you want the results displayed in.

2 3. Title: Name your Assessment 4. Choose to display your assessment by either Page or Sections. Maybe you want your user to answer the questions in a specific group of similar questions. 5. Choose how many questions you would like on each page. 6. Disabled: This is used if you do not want to use the assessment any longer

Category: Use the drop down menu to put this assessment into a category you may create a new category by clicking create new from the drop down category menu. 11. Split assessment by: - choose either Pages or Sections a. Choose whether you want to separate your assessment into Sections or by a certain number of questions per page. 12. If you are using Sections to separate the pages, name your sections Example: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced 13. Separating by pages: add the number of questions per page. 14. If you want all questions on one page, add a number greater than the number of questions you anticipate adding. 15. Disabled: This is used if you do not want to use the assessment any longer 16. Encrypt URL: If you would prefer that your users not see the URL of your assessment add a check to this box. Click the Next button Next Section Customize Your Assessment With Your Brand 17. Assessment header: This is the top location of your assessment and where you might want to put your company logo. 18. Place the cursor in the table and then choose the image icon from the formatter menu - choose to link to your image using a URL, or upload your image. Be sure to remove the instruction text within the table provided. You may resize the table by dragging the corners - this is to help you place your logo. Right clicking on the box will show a menu to

5 format the box - choosing Cell Cell properties will help position the logo within the area. 19. Assessment Instructions: This is where you can add instructions that will be placed right under the header you ve added. It is best to size the table the width of the assessment header. 20. Assessment footer: This is the bottom location of your assessment it will be viewable on all pages maybe a copyright notification might be placed here.

6 21. Footer on questions pages: This is a footer specifically for the Questions pages this might be a statement about how many pages are in the assessment, or additional instructions. Choosing the Colors

7 22. Page background click on the Color Pallet to choose the page background of the assessment. 23. Assessment table background click on the Color Pallet to choose the color of the Table background of the assessment itself. 24. Assessment table border click on the Color Pallet to choose the color of the border of the assessment 25. Assessment text click on the Color Pallet to choose the color of the text of your assessment 26. Assessment question text click on the Color Pallet to choose the color of the text for the questions. 27. Font size choose the font size for the assessment itself. To further format the standard text of the assessment, use a combination of text size and color, including grey colors to lighten the text. Click the Next Button Choose How Your Users Receive Their Results

8 In this section, you will choose how you want your visitors to receive their assessment scores. 28. Require user to register: Check this if you would like your participant to register after they have taken the assessment if this is checked, your participant will be sent an account login and password to view their results online at any time. If the user has registered in the past, they will not be required to register again if their account has not been deleted. 29. Results on screen with score: Do you want your participants to see the results of the assessment online? a. There is not an option to show the score text without the actual score. 30. Choose the type of chart you want to display on the final results page - Pie, Bar or none. You can easily come back and change if necessary. 31. Final URL destination of participant. This is used when you have chosen to not show your participant their results on screen. Provide a URL to a page on your web site - maybe a Thank you page with further instructions. 32. Results to Do you want your participants to be sent an after they take the assessment with the score key text? 33. Score to Do you want to send the score along with the Results to PDF: Do you want to allow your participant to click on the PDF image to view their score in a PDF file that will be printable? 35. Alert me: Do you want to receive an alert each time someone takes your assessment? 36. Autoresponder This is an address generated by an autoresponder service such as Aweber, Constant Contact, 1Shoppingcart. (1Shoppingcart will only accept third party generated s if the client/customer is already in their database). Check with your autoresponder service for the direct address to the list you want to use.

9 37. Results Header: This is where you add your Company Name, Logo what you want your participant to see on the Results Screen. Below this information, your user will see their score and score key text. Format The to Send to Your Participant 38. message header: When you choose to send your participant the results of their assessment by , you can customize the message by adding either a text or html header

You can customize the with ###NAME### - so that you can say Dear ###NAME### to insert your participant s first name in the Message footer: This is where you would put your signature line and if you are using html s by clicking on the left arrow, you can add links to your web site and address. 40. Add your message and your signature - the user s score will be placed below what you add. 41. Hit Save This will take you to the Edit Type screen Submitting or Saving: This will bring you to the Edit Type Screen, where you will tell Assessment Generator the types, levels, categories, groups or classifications that you want the questions scored into. 1. Create/Add your Type or Groups for the assessment, based on how you want to separate your scores 2. Add the information your user will see when This Type results in the highest score for the user taking the assessment.

11 3. Hit Submit. This will save this type and bring you back to the same page to add another type or group. 4. On this page, you can also determine whether you want to show the result with the High Score first, or you can rearrange the order by hitting the up/down in the right column - the results will display in the order you determine. 5. Sections will be scored by Section there will be no Score Keys created. 6. After you are finished adding your Types or Groups, you need to add your Questions. There is a message in the Types Screen that will take you to add Questions, or you can simple go to Actions Edit Questions. Please see the Tutorial on Add/Editing Questions
