1 SREA Reference Guide (For Powertrain Suppliers Only) ISQ-001-WI Rev. B April 11,

2 OVERVIEW AND TIMING The SREA module was designed to streamline the communication for SREA approvals between Navistar and suppliers while also reducing the length of time required to approve them. The supplier will no longer be sending submissions via , but will initiate them in this online module. For the supplier, the status will be accessible at all times along with the ability to see who the approvers are as well as make comments during the course of the entire process. If approved, the parts associated with the respective SREA will be loaded into the Main Lookup menu of NPT for PPAP completion. This module went live within the NPT site on June 24 th, It is required that all suppliers use using this module for new submissions. Truck suppliers need to submit their SREAs directly to the SQE for processing. Any pending SREAs prior to this online module will continue to be phased out through the old process. There has been no flow change to the current process. CONTACT INFORMATION To assure a timely response for issues, please use the following information for contact: Anything regarding SREAs should be directed to SREA@navistar.com Anything regarding the NPT system should be directed to NPT@navistar.com (requests for access, user issues, incorrect/missing or records needing updates, etc.) Any Truck/Vehicle SREAs need to be submitted directly to your SQE for processing Please refrain from ing the coordinator directly as those requests will not be answered in a timely manner. 2

3 SREA STATUSES DEFINED 1) Draft : The supplier is in the process of creating an SREA. They may save it for completion later. This is also the only status that will allow the supplier to edit the documents on the SREA record. Once submitted, the supplier is locked out of the record for editing purposes. If submitted, next Step: Admin Preview 2) Admin Preview: The supplier has now submitted the SREA and it is ready for the ADMIN to review/verify documents, SQE assignment and the parts list. Submission will be rejected and returned to supplier (in draft form) if adjustments need to be made. If ok, next step: SQE Review 3) SQE Review: SREA has passed initial review by Admin and is ready for the SQE to review. The SQE assures that the change requested should take place with the supplier and meets any other requirements they have discussed or agreed upon. The submission will be rejected and returned to supplier (in draft form) if adjustments need to be made. If ok, next step: Admin Review 4) Admin Review: The Admin and SQE have reviewed the documents/change and it is now ready to be assigned to approvers for final review. The SREA receives its log number at this stage. 5) Out for Approval: The log number has been assigned and SREA has been sent out to approvers for review. 6) Approver/Final Dispositions: Approved SREA is approved. No special requirements. PPAP can proceed. Approved with Conditions SREA is approved, but there is something that the approvers have requested to be done before, during or after PPAP. If the requirement is not completed, the approval is void. CR Required There is a print change required for this change and approval of SREA only permits the change to proceed through the CR process. SREA approval is not the final step. A CR will now be entered by engineering, it will be reviewed by a change committee and if approved the print will be changed accordingly. If the CR is not approved, that voids the SREA, so verification of this approval is essential before proceeding with PPAP. Rejected SREA is rejected. Supplier cannot make the change. Reason will be stated on the final form. If information has been requested from the supplier and more than 5 business days have passed with no response (or multiple requests have been made with no response), the SREA can be rejected at the Admin or approver s discretion pending the receipt of this information. It is now possible to have a rejected SREA later approved after satisfactory information has been submitted, though, so be sure to work with your SQE and approvers to submit what is needed. Needs More Information This means there is not enough information to make a decision on the SREA. This disposition reverts back to the supplier and SQE. They will need to work together to get the information, SQE will add it to the SREA record and it will continue to move through the process. *This status is no longer being used * 3

4 SUPPLIER STEPS STEP 1: SUPPLIER 1- Supplier will initiate the SREA from either the dash board or the SREA menu. 2- Supplier selects the engine program. If you are not sure, asking your SQE will eliminate delays later in the process. 4

5 3- Select the applicable location (this uses the same restricted visibility as you see with NPT PPAP records). If you do not see the location you need, please send an to and copy your SQE. 4- Select SQE If your SQE is not listed, please be sure to note this in the comments and assign who you believe it should be. The Admin will verify it for you. 5

6 5- Upload attachments according to names on drop down. A minimum of the SREA form is required. Submission will not proceed further without it. Since the Manage the Change (MTC) and SREA are on one form now, individually uploading these forms is not necessary, but if both are not submitted, it will be rejected. A scanned signed MTC form would be an acceptable upload for the Manage the Change Checklist item. Tips on attaching the SREA form: - Do not alter the form layout - No highlighting - Leave in original Excel format (do not change to pdf format) - Always get most current form from supplier site: - Remove all symbols from the file name (i.e. #, *, +) - Do not insert pictures in the form. They should be separate attachments - Be sure your entire change description is visible and detailed. The more information provided up front, the shorter the approval time - All parts effected need to be listed on the form. On rare occasions where there are an excessive number of parts effected a separate parts list (in excel) may be accepted. Once you select the file to upload, you will need to wait until the flashing light turns green. This will indicate that the file is successfully attached, then select Save. There can only be one SREA form, but you can add as many Other files as needed and in any format. Any type of format must be saved as a pdf in order to open properly. 6

7 All attached documents will be listed on the Main tab. 6- Enter parts the SREA will affect. On the Parts Tab, Click Add Part on the Existing Parts column first, enter part number in empty field, then hit Load. If the part number is already populated in NPT, it will show up in the part box. If it has not been populated (meaning the part field will remain blank) the part will need to be entered on the right hand side (see below). 7

8 To enter part on right hand side: Click Add Part on the New Parts column, then enter part number in the code field and the description shown on the print in the Name field. 8

9 After all parts have been entered, select Create SREA. That will return to the main tab and the Comments tab will appear. Review the record to assure all steps have been done completely before selecting Submit SREA. This will then will lock the SREA and move it to the next stage: Admin Preview Supplier name and location will be shown here 9

10 Comments, statuses, approvers and conditions will be able to be seen throughout the process on the dashboard or in the search section. Comments can be added at any time, also. At this point, as a supplier, there is nothing more to complete for submitting an SREA, however there will be certain items (statuses) that may require attention throughout the process. No supplier responses on items or information requested can result in a rejected SREA anytime after 5 business days, so it is very important to login and review your active SREAs on a frequent basis and submit requested information as soon as possible. Once a disposition has been reached on an SREA there are a few things that happen afterwards: 1) The status on the record will change and the originator will get an confirming a final disposition has been reached. 2) The original SREA form on the record will be replaced with the final form that has approvals and any conditions required on it 3) The effected parts will be loaded into NPT under the SREA log number for PPAP completion. Your SQE or coordinator will be able to answer any additional questions. 10

11 ADDITIONAL TIPS How to Search for an SREA Even though most of your SREAs are displayed on the dashboard, at times, you may be required to find an SREA that has scrolled off that display. The SREA search menu is an easy way to find that record. You can search by submitted date, your location, status or the log number. Selecting Search will produce all the SREAs that meet that criteria, then you can select the SREA you need. Rules for Submitting SREAs There are many different scenarios that arise when an SREA is needed. Let s define some general terminology first for clarity, then show some examples: Change = Details of the change the supplier is requesting to make. This is placed in the Description of Change field on the form. Parts = All part numbers effected by this requested change. This is placed in the Part Number/Part Description field Platform = Engine programs used by Navistar Powertrain - Big Bore, Inline or Vee. If you don t know this, the SQE or coordinator will be able to assist in determining. This is placed in the Must Select One Option from 7 Below field. 11
