2. Getting Started This version (4.2w) runs on your normal internet browser. You can use: Internet Explorer Google Chrome Safari You can also use it from a portable device, for example a ipad. To use Re*Book navigate to this page: Registering as a New User If you don t have a registered account please us at info@kitebooks.co.uk. You will need to let us know what you would like as a Username. We will register a new user against your address, and will send you a welcome pack and a temporary password. Just let us know if you want to use a different address than your own for the Re*Book registration Logging in When you run up Re*Book you need to let it know who you are. Type in your User Name and Password in the appropriate boxes. The password will only appear as a series of big dots. Type in your username and password and then Click on Login If you get your username or password wrong, Re*Book will give you this error message.

Please check that you have typed in the username and password correctly, and try again. If it still doesn t work, and you know you have entered the correct details, or if you have forgotten your password, send an to info@kitebooks.co.uk and we will try to sort it out from our end Using Re*Book for the first time When you get first log in, please remember to change your password. Change your password when you log in for the first time. Enter the password you want to change (your old password), a new password and then retype your new password. This is to make sure you didn t accidentally hit a wrong key when putting in your new password. Type in your old password. Type in a new password. Retype your new password and click Confirm Change to Password Then Click on Confirm Change to Password. Click on the Re*Book logo to return to the home page at any time

2.4. Forgotten your password? If you have forgotten your password, send an to and we reset your password, and Re*Book will you a new temporary password Off-Line and On-Line When you start using Re*Book, your new user account will be automatically set as Off- Line. That is: The software has full functionality, but nothing will be posted on-line for sale. When you have had a chance to try out the software, and are happy about how it works, send us an to info@kitebooks.co.uk. We will need to take a couple more details from you, and then we can set your account as On-Line and you are ready to sell on the internet.

3. Adding Books for Sale To use the software almost all of the options are available using a barcode reader. Most of the time you will be working from the Scan page. Most options are available on the Scan page. When you are ready to add a book for sale Just scan the barcode on the back of the book. If you have an On-Line account, that is all you have to do Sound Effects It is usually worth having sound effects turned on. This helps you quickly get an idea about what is happening on the system. BUT if you are working in a shop, and it isn t appropriate to have sound effects on, you can disable them from the Settings page. You can turn on and off sound effects on the Settings Page. If you change any settings, remember to click on Save Set the item Condition and Location When you start off with Re*Book you will need to set the item s condition and the location that you will store this item ready for sale. Unless you set both condition and location, Re*Book will not let you scan any items. The condition and location can be set by using the barcode sheets provided. Re*Book will remember your settings for condition and location, for next time you run the software.

3.3. Each Time you Scan Books Make sure you have set the right type of item to scan. Have you selected the right Search Type? Make sure you have set the Book Quality Condition. Have you selected the right Item Condition? Make sure you have set a Location / Box Make sure the cursor is flashing in the Scan box on the top line. Do you have the right Location/Box selected? Make sure the little blinking cursor is in this box Start Scanning Scan the barcode on the back of the book.

Re*Book is designed let you work quickly with a large number of books. The key to getting the best from Re*Book is to concentrate on using it for books that have a barcode, or an ISBN number. This is usually about 95% of books. When you scan the barcode on the back of the book, Re*Book will check on this book on the internet Success or Failure Ding or Uuhh-uhh? Ding Re*Book will use your settings and rules, and if Re*Book considers that this book is worth selling you will get a big GREEN tick and a Ding sound effect. This item is good to add to your selected box Keep an eye out for the messages at the top of the screen. Put this into your selected box, ready to sell. Uuhh-uhh If the item doesn t match up to your selection criteria you will get an Uuhh-uhh sound effect and a big RED cross, and an appropriate message at the top of the screen. This item is not worth selling On-Line The status message will tell you a bit about why this item wasn t worth selling. Put this item to one side, ready for recycling. Keep an eye on the status message

Other Sound Effects Woop-Woop Excellent! This item is showing up as a High Value item. High Value Item NOT added By default, Re*Book will NOT add this for sale, without confirmation from you first. Re*Book will assume that you would like to deal with any high value items individually. If you want to sell this on-line, simply enter a minimum price, or scan the minimum price you would like to set for this item from the minimum price barcode sheet. You need to scan a Minimum Price to add a High Value item for sale Waa-Waa The Waa-Waa sound effect is a warning that Re*Book can t find this item on Amazon. Keep an eye on the status message This may be because you scanned a DVD when you had the Re*Book set for a search type of Books, or that this item isn t in the database. It is worth trying again after changing your search type settings to All. But remember, setting a search type to the correct item type is much better and more reliable Search Type The Search Type is used to identify the type of item to be scanned. Select the type of item that you are going to scan, or scan the Search Type barcode sheet. If you are scanning lots of different types of item you CAN set this to All. However, be wary. Sometime the same barcode has been used for a book and a DVD. The DVD Misery, for example shows up as a cookery book, because they have the same barcode number.

If you can, always use the correct Search Type rather than setting Re*Book to search for All Find out more about an item If Re*Book has found an item for you, but you want to know a bit more about it, or how much it is selling for elsewhere on the internet, click on the Internet Search button. Click on internet search to find out more 3.7. No Barcode? If there is no barcode on the back of the book, have a look for an ISBN number. It is sometimes on the back cover, or on the inside front cover amongst the copyright information. This is an ISBN number, including the x This is an ISBN number 3.8. Location Organising Books into Boxes In order for Re*Book to be able to process orders, it needs to know a location for each item. Use barcodes to label your boxes, and scan a box at the start of processing books. Any book that is worth adding for sale will be added to the current box. Any box name with 999 in it is used as a temporary box and NOT posted for sale.

Managing your boxes The Select Box Page. The Select Box button is used to show your list of active boxes. Show a List of all your boxes From the list of boxes, select a box to examine or check on the contents Empty this box Once you have selected a box or listed the Box Contents, then clicking on Empty Box will allow you to clear all items out of the box. If the items are already for sale On-Line, they will also be removed from sale Qty and Total Value for sale The Qty in Box and Offer Value on screen are used to show the number of books and the total current price that they are offered for On-Line. Current total offer value Once you have scanned items, Re*Book only posts them for sale On-Line on the hour, every hour. Once posted for sale, the offer value will be updated Min Price Use Min Price to set the Minimum price for this item. It is like a Reserve price. Set the price by clicking on the blue arrow next to the Min Price box, or by scanning a Minimum Price from the barcodes sheet provided. This item will not sell for less than the MinPrice With a Min Price set, this item will go up for sale, and but will not be sold for less than this Min Price. For example, this item will be posted for sale at 7.08, as this matches the current lowest price for which this item is being offered.

Re*Book will RePrice this item, checking the price set by competitors, up to 4 times a day. It will adjust the price up and down to suit, but will not set the price below your Min Price figure. Whenever you scan an item, Re*Book will use your default Minimum Threshold price (See Error! Reference source not found.) If you have Auto Weight Adjustment set in your preferences, where it can, Re*Book will adjust the minimum price to take into account the weight of the item My Price With a My Price set, this item will be sold On-Line for a fixed price. To set a My Price, click on the arrow to the right of the My Price box and enter your required value. This item will be offered for sale at this fixed My Price No Automated Repricing will occur for this item Notes Use the Notes to say a bit more about this specific item. Click on the notes box and add any information that would be helpful for the customer. It is important to let the customers know anything special about this item. Most complaints come from customers who get something they didn t expect. Let them know, rather than pay for a refund. Add specific notes about this item. These notes do get listed on the internet, so please check your spelling! If you have notes that are common to a lot of items, save yourself some typing and let us know and we will add them to the note library, and you will be able to use a scan sheet to set these notes.

3.12. Post To The Post To option allows you to set international postage destinations. If this is set to UK Only, you will only get orders from UK customers. Set your preferred Post To option. You can only change this setting by using a Barcode sheet, or by setting your Preference If you set any item for international delivery you need to be very careful about postage costs. Set your preferences to UK Only, until you are sure that sending overseas will be cost effective Site Ref The Site Ref is used to identify where the book came from. If you collect books on from a number of locations, you can enter the Site Ref here. This will then allow you to keep track of items that have been sold, that came from a particular location. Set the Site Ref by scanning it in from a barcode sheet, or by clicking on the Site Ref box any typing in an appropriate reference. Type in any relevant Site Ref Re*Book will keep the site Ref at this default value for you, until you change it Gift Aid ID The Gift Aid ID is used to identify the item donor. If you have a Donor Reference or ID number, click on this Gift Aid ID box and type in the donor Gift Aid ID. Enter the Gift Aid ID for this donor. The Gift Aid ID will appear on the settlement report, which can then be processed in your Gift Aid claims system.

4. Processing Orders When an item sells, Re*Book will send you a copy of the paperwork. You need to send an item out within 48 hours of receiving the order. Print the order paperwork Collect the Book from the box The location of the book is shown on the paperwork Prepare to post Peel off / Cut off address section of the paperwork Attach to the address label to the packaging Scan the Paperwork This lets Re*Book know that you are processing an order and a dispatch screen will be shown. Scan Book to confirm that the right book is being posted out. Put the book in packaging Seal it up Add the appropriate stamps Sign and date and file the top half of the paperwork Put the package in the post If you can t scan the book, you can just click on Confirm / OK. If you can t send the book out, us on info@kitebooks.co.uk

5. Settings Use the Settings page to set and adjust your preferences Contact Details Enter and update your contact details here. You can t change the address for your contact details from here. If you need to change the address send a request to info@kitebooks.co.uk Processing Options Minimum Threshold This sets the default Minimum price to accept for books for sale. A normal setting for default Minimum Price would be 2 or Upper Threshold This sets an Upper Threshold at which Re*Book will NOT post the item for sale without confirmation of a Minimum Price. A normal setting for default Maximum Threshold would be Maximum Items per Box Set a maximum number of items that you want to store in a box. Re*Book will warn you when the box is full, and ask you to start a new box. A normal setting for Maximum Items per box would be 30. If you have a maximum of much more than 30 items in a box, the right book is hard to find when you get an order through, and the box will get very heavy for moving around Maximum Reprices Set a Maximum number of times that Re*Book should be allowed to adjust the price on an item. A normal setting for default Maximum Reprices would be 120 times Use Weight Adjustments Re*Book will adjust the Minimum selling price if it can detect that the item weighs more than 500g. The adjustments are as per this table (April 2014). From (g) To (g) Increment

Turn off Use Weight Adjuster if you don t want Re*Book to adjust your minimum price because of the item weight. As you can see from this table, once items get above 2kg, the price increment rises steeply. This is because posting heavy items is very expensive. Re*Book will try to make sure the item price is sufficient to cover the cost of postage and still provide you with a reasonable return. Be wary of heavy items. Re*Book can only adjust the minimum price for some items. For some items Re*Book can t find out the weight Default Postage Options Set your selected default postage option here. Unless you are confident in being able to send items overseas cost effectively, leave this setting on UK Only Additional Search Options Internet Search Option Set your chosen search engine for more information about books Search Types Set your default Search Type.

6. Reference 6.1. Item Condition You need to set the condition of all items that you scan Standard item conditions Amazon use the following descriptions for each of the conditions that you are likely to use Used, Like New An apparently untouched product, in perfect condition. The original plastic wrap might be missing, but the original packaging is intact and pristine, and instructions are included. There are absolutely no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Used, Very Good A well-cared-for product with limited use but still in great condition. The product is complete, unmarked, and undamaged, but might show some limited signs of wear. The product works perfectly. Used, Good The product shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. The product might be marked or have identifying information it, and show other signs of previous use. The product works perfectly. Used Acceptable The product is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The signs of wear can include scratches, dents, and other aesthetic problems. The product might be marked or have identifying information it, and show other signs of previous use. New A New item. VAT: Be wary of using the New setting. The item does need to be New, and not just appear to be New. Please check what happens to your VAT if you sell New items. It is sometimes best to label items as Used, Like New rather than New.

6.2. Repricing Re*Book checks that the price for your books is competative. We check and Re-Price books up to 4 times a day. Books will not be repriced to a value below the Minimum Price set for this item. If you have a MyPrice set for the item, no repricing is performed Barcode Reader Settings Most barcode readers simply act as a keyboard. To be most effective, set your barcode reader to send a Carriage Return at the end of each scan. This means that each time you scan something you don t need to touch the keyboard.
