2 Opening your Google account If you do not already have a Google Analytics account then you will need to open one in order to make use of the interaction between your Switchboard calls and Google s statistics. If you already have an account with Google then skip to page 6. Using your web browser go to You should see a page similar to the one below; click on the orange Create an account button which we have highlighted. Tel: support@switchboard-support.co.uk 2

3 Opening your Google account Once clicked on Create an account, you will be taken to the following page. You will need to click on the highlighted red Sign Up button to open a Google account. To create your account you only need to follow these 9 basic steps Enter the address that you would like to use for this account. This may well be the same one that you use to access your SwitchboardFREE account. Please ensure the spelling is correct and that you have access to it. 2. Type a password. For security reasons we would suggest that this is not the same as your Switchboard account and Google insist that this is at least eight characters in length. 3. 4 Opening your Google account If you select Stay signed in then whenever you go to the Google Analytics page you will be logged in automatically. Although this may make life quicker it also means that anyone with access to your computer will also have access to your Google Account. 5. Select the country you live in. 6. Enter your birthday date. 7. Enter the digits you see displayed in red above this text box. 8. Read the Google terms and conditions as you should only open your account if you agree with these and tick the box. Please note that without agreeing to Google s terms and conditions you won t be able to open a Google account. 9. Finally, press the Create my account button. 5 Opening your Analytics Account Now enter the password you have chosen for your Google account and click the Sign in button. Once you have filled in your details and successfully progressed to the next step you will be asked to verify your account. Google sent you an which you provided in the above form during step 1. You need to open that and click on the activation link that Google sent you. Once clicked the account will be approved as shown below. Now click on it on the highlighted Sign Up button. Tel:

6 Opening your Analytics Account You next step will be to fill out the form. There will be six steps. All point are explained below this image Enter your website name. This is just a simple description which might be easier to remember than the domain name. 2. Enter the URL of your website. Ensure that you type this correctly. 3. Select one category that best represents your business/website. 4. Enter the time zone you are in. If you have selected UK then this will be filled in automatically for you. 5. Enter your account name. This is just a simple description which might be easier to remember than the domain name. 6. Click Get Tracking ID button. After clicked you will get a pop-up box with Google Analytics Terms of Service as show below. All you need to do is read it, and click I Accept to continue further. 8 Opening your Analytics Account After accepting the above terms and conditions you now have a Google Analytics account. You should now be at your Google Analytics control panel. On screen you will see your websites Google Analytics code UA-XXXXXXXX-X you will have to enter on SwitchboardFREE number setting page. Besides the analytics code you will also have to copy the tracking code and paste it on your websites source code. Tel: support@switchboard-support.co.uk 8

9 Adding Analytics to SwitchboardFREE In our case the code is UA Login to your SwitchboardFREE account and click on the settings icon as highlighted below. In the setting scroll down to Google Analytics setting and paste your code. After doing that remember to click Save changes. Now your Google Analytics account is integrated with SwitchboardFREE. Tel:
