4 Introduction Generated for an asset: Computer, Experion Controller, Network Device Generated for an alert rule: Ex: CPU utilization Alerts Generated at certain points in time Generated for a certain severity: Low, Medium, High The following points provide useful information about alerts: 1. Alerts can be tracked or untracked a. A tracked alert is one which is deemed important enough to require user acknowledgement and closure. Untracked alerts may come and go without user interaction. For the Beta release, all alerts are tracked. This will be configurable in the released version of the product. b. Once tracked, all alerts for this alert rule and asset will be included in the tracking record and will not appear as a separate alert on the dashboard. c. Tracked alerts can be Acknowledged and Closed. Once Closed, the alert will no longer appear on the dashboard, but a new instance of this alert rule for this asset will start to appear if it is generated again. Tracked alerts can also be suppressed. This will cause the alerting system to stop receiving alerts for this asset that are for the alert rule. Suppressed alerts can have an expiration date by when the suppression will end. d. Untracked alerts fluctuate over time. The dashboard will show the most recent severity for the alert. If the alert has returned to normal conditions, then the alert will no longer appear on the dashboard. 4

12 Active Alerts Actions Menu Use the Actions menu, to change the status of the Alert. Acknowledge - Acknowledges the alert that is under review. Assign To - Assigns a person to work and resolve the alert condition. Close Alert condition is resolved. Record Progress- Records the notes on the alert. Suppress Stops recording for future alerts. 12

21 Active Alerts View asset details You can set the asset into Maintenance mode, by using the Set Status drop-down menu. Once you set the asset to maintenance mode, all alerts related to the assets are stopped. 21

27 Active Alerts Alert History on Other Assets Displays the history of alerts on other assets. It displays the Asset Name, severity of the alert, status of the alert, the alert start and end time. Closed Time is the time when you close the alert. The Note column shows the closure note provided at the time of closing the alert. This information is useful to know the history of the alert and why it was closed. 27

38 Screen Update Status The lower left of the System Performance Analyzer window displays the current status and the last time the data was refreshed. The dashboard page refreshes once in every 30 seconds. If the alert is getting old, the indicator turns yellow and then red to draw your attention, The indicator displays green and the current time, if the alert is new. 38
