Activity #1: Measuring with LEGO Bricks Activity #2: Brick Number Bonds Activity #3: Find the Missing Addend Tip for Activity #3: Encourage kids to build two LEGO towers, one to represent each quantity that is known. They can compare the towers to find the missing addend. 5 + what number = 12? Compare towers of 5 and 12 bricks. How many bricks need to be added to the tower with 5 bricks so that it equals 12? 2 Name: Measuring with LEGO Bricks Use 2 x 2 bricks to measure! How many bricks long is each of these objects? Estimate how long each item will be and write down your guess. Then measure the actual length by building a tower of bricks that is equal to the length of the object you are measuring. Object Estimated Length Actual Length Your shoe An apple or banana A chapter book A water bottle A stuffed animal Your choice! Suggestions measure the height of a chair, a pencil, a pet guinea pig, a doorway, a mailbox, a math book, a backpack, a pillow, a video game controller. What else can you think of?

3 Brick Number Bonds Place a number card in the box. Then use bricks to figure out all the ways that you can make an addition sentence equal to that number. Write your number sentences on the lines.
