11 Spreadsheet - Calc Performing Mathematical Operations Applications > Office >OpenOffice.org Calc; Basic operations such as add, subtract, multiply and divide are performed using the +, -, * and / respectively; An operation can be performed directly within one field in the spreadsheet. Then press Enter to get the result)(the operation will be hidden) To view and change the operationselect the field or cell used (double click of the mouse or press F2):

12 12 It is also possible to combine operations in a single cell. And the result is:

13 13 Users must be careful with the priority of operations. By mathematical standards, * and / have higher priority than + and -. If users want to dictate the order in which operations are conducted use parentheses: Then the result is different because it is performed the way users have defined using parentheses:

14 14 Another way to perform operations is to enter values in different fields and then use those values in another operation: And the result is: When using multiple fields, it is possible to modify each value independently of the others. Using mulitple fields also makes it possible to create graphs and charts from the data and calculations.
