5 INSTRUCTIONS This is the quick version of how to add background pictures, slides, or images into the majority of applications/programs available today. For detailed information on how to add JPEG (.JPG) images from the CD into your particular application/program, please refer to your application manual. All JPEG images are 1024 x 768. If you lose this insert, The Journey Insert.pdf file on the CD contains the exact same information printed in this insert. You can preview the PDF version of the insert or print extra copies. Microsoft PowerPoint : 1. Find the Image you want to use by looking through this insert. 2. Open the Application/Program or Document that you wish to add background pictures or images into. 3. A) Adding an Image as a Background Slide : 1. Go to the Format menu, select Background On the pop-up menu under Background Fill, go to Fill Effects, then click the Picture tab. 3. Click the Select Picture... button, then there will be a dialog box asking you to find the image. 4. Navigate to the images folder on the CD. 5. Click the file name you want*, click Insert, and then click OK. 6. To apply the change to the current slide, click Apply. To apply the change to all slides, click Apply to All. B) Adding an Image as Clip Art : 1. Go to the Insert menu, select Picture, then From File... then a dialog box will ask you to find a file. 2. Navigate to your The Journey Images folder on the CD. 3. Click the file name you want*, click Insert. *If you are using Windows and are navigating to your image from a dialog box, and the folder appears empty, make sure that you are viewing All Files in the Files of Type field. (Hint: Once you have navigated through the Select Picture dialog box to the folder containing all the images on the CD, you can type the first three numbers of the image file you want to quickly select it, without having to use the mouse.) Adobe Photoshop: Go to the File menu and select Open. A dialog box will appear. Navigate to your CD and the folder containing all the images. Select the image and click Open. The image will now appear. AppleWorks: First select your pointer tool. Then go to the File menu and select Insert. A dialog box will appear. Navigate to your CD and the folder containing all the images. Select the image and click OK. The image will now appear in your document. Keynote: 1. In Keynote select the slide you want to change. 2. If the Inspector window isn t open, choose View > Show Inspector. 3. Click the Slide Inspector button, then click Appearance and choose Image Fill from the Background pop-up menu. 4. Choose Scale to Fit from the pop-up menu, then click Choose and navigate to the images folder on the CD.
