1 Image not found Published on it.ucsf.edu ( Home > Outlook Web App 2010 New Features Outlook Web App 2010 New Features Mark Bering on March 26, 2014 Microsoft did a major overhaul to Outlook Web App (OWA) improving the functionality and adding new features so that it stands beside the Outlook full desktop client. OWA provides a rich and similar "Look and Feel" in a web browser, without any installation or special configuration required. This makes Exchange 2010 a compelling choice in a mixed platform environment. OWA has changed from "Outlook Web Access" to "Outlook Web Apps." We?ve listed a number of the?fresh ingredients? added in OWA 2010 for our customers. Multi-Browser Support Now OWA premium is supported on non-microsoft web browsers like Firefox 3+ and Safari 3+. Customers now receive the same experience no matter which browser they use.
2 Favorites Folder Mark your frequently used folders as a Favorite. This preference is synchronized across Outlook and Outlook Mobile. Conversation View This new view gathers all mails of a conversation from various folders of a mailbox and presents it as a thread, similar to a newsgroup or forum thread. This allows customers to locate the full thread of a mail chain and manage it as a single source. Turn Conversation and reading Pane Views Off [1]
3 Ignore Conversiation Customers can choose to ignore conversations that they are not interested in. New messages within the thread of?ignored? conversations will be automatically deleted upon arrival. This allows customers to better manage their Inbox and not feel overwhelmed by incoming messages.. If a conversation thread becomes important information, the request to ignore the conversation can be cancelled from the Delete Items folder. Single Page of Messages Previous version of OWA showed only chunks of messages on multiple pages, but by using AJAX technology OWA in Exchange 2010 shows all messages in a single page. All of your
4 s can be viewed by scrolling down. Nickname Cache / Mail TIps Nickname cache is the list of recent recipients you?ve used and pops up with suggestions when you type a new address. Nickname cache is now global and remains the same while using Outlook, OWA or Outlook Mobile. MailTips gives advance notification to the customer for the recipients he or she is addressing a message to; such as auto-reply or out of office, permissions not established, external recipient, large distribution list, attachment over-sized or even custom MailTips configured by administrator for special purposes. This information can be used by the customer to avoid damaging or embarrassing situations.
5 Send-As or Send-on-Behalf-of You can now change the?from? address to send as another user or on behalf of different user in OWA. The permissions to perfom these actions must first be set up by the account owner(s). Forward as Attachment You can forward any as an attachment. This was not possible in previous versions of OWA. Searching Messages Search facility is more powerful and provides you advanced options. Searches can also be saved and accessed as Favorites.
6 Filters You can apply various advanced filters to view messages in the Inbox or a folder. Recover Deleted Items Access your deleted items retention and recover deleted items with a single right-click from your "Delete Items" folder.
7 Opening Another User's Inbox If you have full mailbox permission then now you can open another user's mailbox in OWA. Open a Shared Calendar / Contacts You can open up to five calendars simultaneously in OWA.
8 Account Information Customers can now change their information that is published in the Global Address List (GAL) without calling the help desk. Groups Subscription Customers can search through published distribution lists, and request to join available lists.
9 Delivery Reports Customers can now track a message by right-clicking on the message in the Sent Items folder or by going in Options. For additional information go to /services/ -web-access/tutorial/delivery-reports [2]. Images
