1 Objective of the Guideline: This guideline is developed to assist faculty members to easily present their current research, capabilities, and innovations at the Civil Department website. This can help the department to enhance its academic ranking not only in Iran but also in the whole world. This guideline would assist the faculty members to carry out the following tasks: 1. Setup or update their webpage (add the latest publications, research projects, etc.). 2. Communicate with their students in each course (posting assignments, course note, marks, important notices/news, etc.). Note that the speed of uploading files at the webpage is significantly faster that attaching files via Establish an on-line archive of all courses that you teach including all related materials. This archive is a reliable backup and can be reachable whenever you require in the future as a reference. Milestones to setup/update your webpage 1 : 1) Use your Internet Explorer and browse the English version of the website ( 2) Register in the website. Make sure that your username and password should be more than 7 characters (if you have already registered go to step 5). 1 This is based on the English version of the website; however, it is applicable to the Farsi version.

2 3) Ignore if you have got the following error (close this error tab if you wish). 4) Send your username to my address to provide you with the permission to conduct subsite management. 5) Go to the and enter your username and password (the same as you use to login to the civil website). 6) Login to the English version of the website ( US,Civil,Content,Default.aspx) using Internet Explorer. 7) Click on the subsite management. If you have got the "NoRecordFound" error, send me your username to provide you with the permission to manage your webpage.

3 8) You can edit/delete the available pages or add a new page.

4 8.1) In each page you can change the "Title", "Comments" (body of the page), "Image Path" (add an image to this page and delete it if you wish), "Valid User" (you may want to give a permission to a limited number of people/students to see this page. If so, you need to add their usernames here), "Sort Number" (page order, if you don't change this number, pages will be sorted in the same order as they have been created).

5 8.2) You can attach/link a file to the text in the "Comments" box, e.g., you can post your assignment via your webpage. For this purpose, (A) click on the "Insert/edit image" icon. (B) Click on the "browse".

6 (C) Click on the "File Upload" tab at the top, select the "File Type" that you need to upload, browse it, and finally upload it. (D) You will get this message, hit "OK".

7 (E) Copy the URL address and close this window and the previous window (i.e., insert/edit image window). (F) Select the text that you need to link a file to it and click on the "Insert/edit link" icon.

8 (G) Paste the URL address that you already copied in the "Link URL" blank space and hit "Insert".

9 (H) Your text that you have already selected should be underlined and linked to the file (as shown below). You can repeat the steps presented in section 7.2, to upload more files. When you finish uploading your required files, click on the "Submit" icon. Please do not hesitate to drop me an for more explanations.
