2 1. Introduction The Vodafone Direct Enterprise service offered by Proximus gives you the ability to synchronise your messaging and your mobile in real time. Thanks to this solution, the following data are automatically sent from your computer to your mobile, and vice versa: s calendar updates contact updates Activation The activation process proceeds as follows in multiple stages: activation of your messaging on your mail server. This stage is carried out by your IT department. Once completed, you will receive confirmation of registration by activation of the service at Proximus. Once the service is activated, you will receive confirmation by SMS. Content This manual covers the following functions: Use of Vodafone Direct Enterprise s Calendar Contacts Trouble-shooting for standard problems Tips and tricks Surfing with WAP and Mobile Internet In order to optimise surfing performance via WAP or Mobile Internet you must always switch off the Direct software before starting to surf and switch it on again once you have finished. 2. Start-up Activation of the messaging service This action is performed at your internal level. Once the activation is completed, you will receive a welcome with instructions. Activation of the service with Proximus Once the activation is completed, you will receive confirmation by SMS. Registration Once the two registrations have been completed, you may follow the instructions described in the welcome . Step 1. Registration on the Web Visit the website: You will see the following page: Please enter the data. The password is given in the welcome . As a security measure, you are asked to change your password immediately. 2
3 To continue, please read and accept the conditions of use. Now select the zone in which you are located. You will then be forwarded to the installation page. 3
4 Select your mobile. You will then receive the procedure to be followed. >>> If you synchronise your mobile telephone with your PC, please do it one last time before installing the software. Step 2. Activation of the network parameters Before proceeding to the installation, you must request the network parameters. To do this, send PUSH to 2020 via SMS. You will receive a reply by SMS. When you open this SMS, you are asked to enter a PIN code. Enter 1234 and OK. You will then have access to the content of the message. Follow the instructions and define these parameters as the default parameters. 4
5 Your mobile will then be ready for installation Step 3. Installing the software on your mobile You must then install the software that will ensure the synchronisation between your mailbox and your mobile. Two options are available to you: via your mobile on WAP via your PC and data transfer to your mobile. The first solution is described here. If you are used to transferring data to your mobile, be aware that this procedure is described on the Web page above. On your mobile: visit the following WAP address: Select Start installation to start the download. Please save the application and open it after downloading. Once the download has completed, you must go through the installation confirmation screens. Please choose Install in all cases. 5
6 To continue, please read and accept the clauses and conditions intended for the end user. You must then confirm that the data of the Contacts and Calendar may be deleted. They will be restored at the first synchronisation. If you do not do this you risk having all your contacts twice on your mobile. Once the installation has completed, your mobile will update its files and will launch the application. This may take a few minutes. Step 4. Activation of Vodafone Direct Enterprise and synchronisation To activate the application and to receive your s on your mobile, please enter your mobile number and the password you chose at the start of the process on the web. 6
7 Once the operation has completed, the application will connect and synchronise your messages. Your s will be visible in the Messages / s menu. If the system does not connect but asks you to confirm the activation parameters again, please verify that you have selected the following parameters: Mobile number: your number 04XX XXXXXX Password: the password you chose at the beginning of the process Selection of the access point: Direct You can view the status of your service at any time. Select Direct in your menu. The Status screen displays the following information: the status of the network connection; the date and time of the last network activity. You can disconnect Direct from the menu here. On the following tab, you can set the maximum number of s stored on the telephone. If the number of s exceeds this limit, the oldest s will automatically be deleted from the telephone to make space for the new ones. The minimum limit is 10. You can now use Vodafone Direct Enterprise. 7
8 3. Use Using the mailbox Once Direct is activated on your phone, you can read and send s. The messages are listed chronologically by default, with the most recent message at the top. 1. Select Messages at the top of the screen 2. Select The Inbox of your Direct displays the following information. 4. To read a message, select a message in the Inbox. NOTE: Attachments to messages are shown with a paperclip. 5. The message details are displayed. 8
9 6. You can read the information in the heading by selecting the header tab. 7. If you click on the Message in the toolbar, the following options are displayed: New to create a new message. Reply to send a reply to the sender s message. Reply All to send the sender and all the recipients of the message a reply. Forward to send the message to new recipients. Search to search for a specific message containing specific text. Search again to search for the next message containing specific text. Retrieve message to retrieve the entire message if cut due to its length. Retrieve attachments to read the attachments. Remove message to remove the message only from the phone. Delete message to delete a specific message. Working with attachments To read information in attachments: 1. A paperclip is shown in messages with attachments. Open the message with the attachment. 2. Select the Attachment tab to read the file names, type and size of the attachments. 3. Select the Attachments box 4. In the Messages menu select Retrieve attachments. If the corresponding application is installed on the phone, the attachments will open. To forward a message with an attachment: 1. Open the message to be forwarded and select Message in the toolbar. 2. Select Forward. 3. You can add extra attachments by selecting Add. You can remove attachments by selecting the box by the file name and selecting Remove. 4. Enter the recipient s address, add any text required to the message and select Send. To send an attachment when writing an 1. Select the tab Attachment while writing an Select Add. 3. Select the type of attachment in the dropdown menu. 4. Select Ready. 5. Select a folder from the dropdown menu to search through your files. 6. Highlight the files you want to attach and click Select. 7. The selected files are shown in a list. 8. You can add more files by selecting Add. You can remove attachments by selecting the box next to the file name and selecting Remove. 9. When you have finished writing the , select Send. Using the Calendar Creating an appointment Go to your calendar. 9
10 Select the item you want to create. Enter the details as you would on your computer. Select Send via and choose an option The synchronisation will be carried out with your computer. 10
11 Your calendar will be updated automatically if a change is made to your computer or if a request is sent to you. Accepting an appointment If you receive a request, you may answer as you would on your computer. If you make changes to your mobile, these will be visible automatically on your computer. Using contacts As with the calendar, the contacts are managed in the same way as on the computer. Any changes to one will also be visible on the other. Summary of the functions messages are updated automatically. The data is stored on your mobile and made available even if no network connection is possible. Changes are sent to the server once a connection is re-established with the network. A list of additional functions of Direct are listed below. Their availability depends on your supplier. Accessing and managing Reading, deleting, replying, forwarding and writing in real time. Forwarding/adding/downloading attachments. Replying to by calling the sender back with a single click of the mouse. Logging in to all mailboxes with a single password and checking information quickly thanks to a permanent login. Warnings Receiving warnings when you receive s. Filtering according to sender, priority or subject. Selecting between warnings of SMTP, SMPP, WAP Push or UP. 11
12 Repairs Table 1: Troubleshooting tips Problem Solution The address you entered is not recognised. Contact your IT-manager. You have entered the incorrect password or it does not correspond to the address. The mobile number you have entered is not recognised. It is not possible to connect to the Direct service. The text content could not be retrieved. There is insufficient free space on your phone. Unknown file format. The message is no longer on the server. Try entering the password again. Try entering the number again. If the problem persists it is possible that the number is not registered for the service. Please contact Proximus customer service on Check your settings and try again. Free up some memory on the phone and try again. The type of attachment is not recognised by the phone. If possible download the correct software onto the phone for this type of file. You have tried to modify an that no longer exists. The message cannot be retrieved. Invalid request. Try again. If the problem persists, you should contact Proximus customer service on Account barred. Contact Proximus customer service on Service not available. Possibly you have no signal. If the problem persists while you do have a signal, contact Proximus customer service on Account suspended. The period of the service or trial period may have expired or there may be an outstanding payment due. Contact Proximus customer service on Account details deleted.
