2 Course Outline Canvas Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used to present the class online. All assignments, links to videos, class discussions and submission of student work is to be done through Canvas. 2

3 Help Canvas & MyWeb Canvas & MyWeb Support - (408) Canvas Support - When ITSS is not open (evenings and weekends) and you need assistance with Canvas, call MyWeb allows all current students to register, pay fees, and purchase parking permits, view class schedule, grades, GPA, transcripts of all records in this district and more. Need help with MyWeb? Visit the Student FAQ s or reference the How to Use MyWeb for Students Resource. Help Office Navigate to the following site 2. On the Sign In page enter your user name (your MyWeb login) in the following format: username@stu.sjcc.edu 3. Enter your password - The initial password is password with a capital P and your six digit date of birth ex. If your date of birth is 06/25/95 your initial password will be Password

4 Logging into Canvas If this is the first time you have used Canvas: 1. To get started, go to the Canvas site at 2. Click the "Activate/Reset Password" link. 3. Enter your username, which is the same as MyWeb: first 2 letters of your first name + first 2 letters of your last name + last 4 digits of your Student ID number. 4. Click the "Request Password" button. 5. You will see a message that an was sent to you. 6. Check your . (It may be in the junk mail folder, so be sure to check there as well.) 7. Click the password link from within your ; the text reads "Click here to set a new password" 8. Change Password. Login to Canvas Go to the Canvas website Make sure Stay signed in box is not checked if you are on a public computer Your Canvas username will be the same as MyWeb, the first two letters of your first name, the first two letters of your last name, and the last four digits of your SJCC student ID number. 4

12 A Reminder From the Syllabus You can receive a 'C' in the class by taking the quizzes and the final, and completing at least one lab assignment each class session. The lab assignments are an essential part of the class. You cannot pass the class by completing only the quizzes, midterm and final. 13 Meet on Campus I plan to be on campus only one or two days during the first week and one or two days during the last week of class. If this is your first programming class, it is very important that you make sure you are able to get the first program running on your computer. Don't miss this opportunity. 15 Office Hours using Zoom Office hours are listed on the syllabus. Refer to Canvas for any updates to the office hours. In addition to being on campus a couple of days the first and last week of class, I will be holding online office hours using Zoom. me ahead of time so that I can setup the Zoom meeting. If you are using a Mac, you will also need to download the Zoom app for the Mac. Get the Canvas App If you have a smart phone. Get the Canvas App. It is available on the ipad, iphone and Android devices. 15
