2 Business Need FTP-Stream is used by Hollywood studios, national broadcasters, post-production houses, advertising agencies, digital cinema and a range of other businesses to share huge video files with business partners worldwide. FTP-Stream features no file size limits and accelerated global data transfer adding up to a compelling platform for the distribution and acquisition of video content. As well as sharing the original files there s a growing demand from FTP-Stream customers to stream video in preview and approval cycles, or simply to post video content on the corporate web pages. Use of consumer services such as Youtube and Vimeo are not an attractive option due to the lack of controls, branding and ownership. Solution The FTP-Stream Streaming Video module provides all you need to share streaming links for any video uploaded to your FTP-Stream site. The module functionality includes: Interactively select any video on an FTP-Stream site and submit for transcoding to streaming formats. Set any folder on your site as hot - videos uploaded to a hot folder are automatically submitted for transcoding. Get links to streaming preview page for any video. Videos stream to full featured player pages with full corporate branding and no reference to any third party platform. Get HTML code to embed video content in web pages. Manage streaming video content and organise into playlists. Players and streams are compatible with and optimised for PC, Mac, IOS devices and Android devices. 3 Submitting Videos for Streaming Hot Folder Workflow for Extreme Simplicity The hot folder workflow offers extreme simplicity for your users to submit videos for transcoding just two steps: 1. Upload videos files to a hot folder. 2. Receive with links to player pages and playlist. Video files uploaded to a hot folder are automatically submitted for transcoding. As soon as the transcode completes an is sent to your designated recipients with links to the player page for each video and a link to the playlist page where the viewer can scroll through thumbnails and preview all the videos in the folder. Interactive Workflow for Flexible Configuration Video files can be selected from any folder on the FTP-Stream site and submitted for encoding. Extensive controls are available on the video management page: Transcode settings Manage renditions. Manage streaming formats. Playback settings Manage playlists. Configure player properties including player size, play on start, etc. Allow or deny download of the original video file from the player page. Get HTML code to embed a video in a web page. 4 Viewing Videos Each video has a unique URL. Videos play in a fully branded page featuring your logo and background colours. Video players feature all the usual controls such as resize, full-screen, pause, skip forward or back. Branded playback page Videos can be grouped into a playlists and presented via a unique URL with an attractive scrolling interface. Playlist pages are also fully brandable with your company logo. 5 Administration The setup and administration load is very light. On the control panel simply tick a checkbox to enable a User ID to manage video, or in a few steps setup hot folders for automated transcoding. Setting up a hot folder Operational Notes The FTP-Stream video module is underpinned by the Brightcove platform. Delivery Video streaming is delivered by Brightcove and their CDN partners. Partnering with Brightcove we leverage their in-depth expertise in video technologies and their highly robust delivery platform which optimises the stream for both the end player device and available bandwidth.
