Logging In Stream It uses the DCCCD Active Directory (AD) authentication system. To login to the system, you must use your 3x4 username (i.e. jxm8851) and the password you would use to login with that account. If you have any issues logging in, make sure you have verified your 3x4 within econnect. Browsing Videos From the navigation bar on the top of the screen, you can select Browse to view videos in the system. Once you are on the browse page, you can manipulate how many videos you see, as well as from which categories. Video Source If you are logged into the system, you can view the Public Videos, or by clicking My Videos, you can see all videos you have uploaded, public and private. You can filter your videos on either screen. Order This allows you to view content AtoZ (alphabetically), ZtoA (reverse alphabetically), Recent (most recently uploaded as public videos), Oldest (the oldest video publicly uploaded to the most recent), and Popular (ranking based upon video plays). Category You can filter the videos you would like to see by selecting a specific category or all categories. If you feel that a new category is needed, please contact your Stream It administrator. Last Edit: 3/27/17 4

Per Page This option allows you to see more videos per page, thus reducing the need to search multiple pages for a specific video. Search The search page allows you to add any search term in the box. It will search the video titles and descriptions for the key phrases. The search can be limited by category as well as specific tags. Last Edit: 3/27/17 5

Upload Uploading a video is as simple as dragging and dropping the video file over the dashed box that says Drop Video Here. You can also click the Select Video button to search for the video on the device from which you are uploading. The video will then be processed and transmission of the video to the server will start. File Types All video should be in mp4 format. Video Information Once the video is processed, the video information must be filled out. The title, category, and description are required before you are able to process the video. You can select Private Video to prevent this video from being searched and browsed. You must certify that you own the copyright or have the necessary rights to stream this video before being able to start the conversion process of the video. After clicking process video, the system will let you know that you will receive an letting you know when the server has completed encoding the new video. Last Edit: 3/27/17 6

Video Screen The video screen features a large header area where the video will play. When the large play button is pressed, the video will start playback from the beginning. Below the video, you will see the title of the video, who uploaded it, the description, as well as any tags associated with the video. Below that, you will see some tabs containing related videos, embed code, and if logged in, you will see the option to add to playlist. Related Videos This section selects the four most closely related public videos from the system based upon category and tags. If a video does not have any tags, it will not find closely related videos. Embed Code The embed code is designed to allow for quickly adding the video to a website or an LMS i.e. (Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle). Although the code states width= 640 and height= 380 this will not make a video responsive (mobile friendly). It is recommended that the width be changed to 100% for mobile continuity. Add to Playlist From this tab you can create playlists or add a video to a specific playlist. To add to a playlist just click the playlist that you wish to add to. To create a new playlist, give it a name in the area provided and click Add Playlist. This will also add the current video to the playlist. Tools If you are an administrator or if you uploaded the video, you will be able to see the tools menu. This menu allows you to Update the video file, Edit the video information. You can select a new Thumbnail, rotate a video 90 or 180 degrees, or you can delete the video. When you Update Video, the new video file is processed and replaces the existing video keeping the embed code intact. Rotating the video is primarily used for videos created on mobile devices so that you can adjust the orientation for video playback. Edit Info You can update the information of the video. If enabled globally, you will also be able to turn on or off comments to your video. Captions If you already have a closed caption file you can drag and drop it into the Drop Caption File Here box from the captions page. If you do not have a pre-formatted caption file Stream It offers automated closed captioning by the IBM Watson engine. Getting started with the IBM Watson option is done by clicking the Auto Generate Captions button. The audio from the uploaded video will be sent to the IBM Watson engine, from there Stream It will take the returned text and generate the closed caption file. Once the closed caption file is generated, an will be sent to you letting you know that the process is complete, and approximately how accurate IBM Watson was in generating text. Last Edit: 3/27/17 7

*TIP* The better the quality of audio you record, the higher the chances of success with IBM Watson Editing Closed Caption Files After you have uploaded or generated a closed caption file, you can return to the Captions page to edit the file. You will note that the video is now on the page as well as a caption editor. If the video is playing, you will notice that the current timestamp is highlighted by the blue line to the left of the caption editor. Each caption line has a start and end timestamp time as well as the text that is associated with each timestamp. If your ending timestamp will overlap the starting timestamp you will see the text color change to red. If you would like to set a speaker name to show throughout the video you can designate up to three speakers and associate their name using the appropriate speaker tag i.e.(%s1 or %S2, etc ). It is recommended that you try not to exceed more than 32 characters per line shown on the screen and no more than 2 lines per caption entry. Once you have your caption edited, you an align it using the alignment icons to the right of the text. Clicking the top checkbox will align the caption text with the top half of the video. When you have completed editing the file, click the Update Captions File button to save. *TIP* if you are unfamiliar with timestamps, please only modify the text Last Edit: 3/27/17 8

Translate Captions When you have made all your corrections to your closed captions in English, you can click the Translate button to utilize IBM Watson to automatically translate the captions into one of the available languages. To translate the caption file, click the language you would like to use and IBM Watson will do the rest. New Thumbnail When you select this option, a modal window will appear allowing you to select from the pre created thumbnails or drag the slider until you find a thumbnail of your choosing from the video. Click the image that you would like and the changes go into effect immediately. Analytics Stream It currently offers two types of analytics that can be reviewed by date range. If the from and to dates are set to the same day, the data will be broken down by hour for that day. The first measures how often a video appears on a screen (loads) versus how often it is played (plays). Last Edit: 3/27/17 9

The second measures the average amount of time watched (watched) versus the actual length of the video (vid length). Comments If comments are turned on globally, you can add comments to a video. These comments immediately show up unless left by a student account. If a student comments on a video the comment will need to be moderated. Comment moderation can be done from the settings page. Video Assessments Stream It offers the ability to embed a self-assessment within a video. When a user watches the video, the assessment questions will pop up at the designated time stamps. To start this process, click on tools and select Create Assessment. This will generate a new drop down that will let you create a new assessment or edit one you have previously created. Once you have made your selection, you will be able to choose when to display the assessment, what question to ask, which answers to show (up to 4 multiple choice) and custom feedback. When you have made your selection, you can save the question. Last Edit: 3/27/17 10

After you have added questions and refreshed the page, you will see a yellow tag on the timeline of the video that denotes an assessment question. You can click on the yellow tag to go directly to the question. When an assessment question is answered, the question will not be shown again unless the button is clicked. You can review questions and which answers have been clicked and how often by clicking on Responses under tools. The questions will be listed in order of timestamp. By clicking the question you can see the responses in a donut chart. Last Edit: 3/27/17 11

Using Stream It for Student Uploads If enabled, students can upload their videos into Stream It and then share the link to the video as an assignment submission in your Learning Management System (LMS) or as an link in an . Stream It displays your upload speed and the estimated time to upload one minute of high definition video. The size of your video file and the speed of your Internet connection will determine the time it will take to upload your video. You can get a rough estimate of your upload time by multiplying the estimated time to upload I minute of HD video by the length of your video in minutes. If you re trying to upload your video from a mobile device, make sure you re connected to Wi-Fi to maximize your upload speed and reduce the upload time. There are two ways to upload a video. You can choose the Select Video button to search for the video on your computer or mobile device. Select Open to begin the uploading process. Or, you can drag and drop the video over the dashed box. The blue line indicates the progress of your video upload. Steam It will notify you by when your video is ready for viewing and will include a link to your video. Check to make sure you video plays properly. To share the video with your instructor, highlight and copy the link provided. You can then copy this link into your assignment in ecampus as directed by your instructor. Last Edit: 3/27/17 12

Recommendations to Faculty Stream It will accept practically all forms of audio and video; however, here are a few recommendations we suggest when creating an assignment. Aim for a student product (A video or Audio file) that is ideally two to five minutes in length. We strongly recommend students upload videos when connected to high speed internet. Avoid asking students to film documents with personal information (i.e. Drivers Licenses). If students experience issues with uploading videos, ask them to contact the student help desk. What to Share with Students It is highly recommended that you share this information with your students when requiring them to upload videos as assignments. Troubleshooting Assignments Issue Description Resolution Slow Network Incomplete Upload I didn t get an Where are all my videos? If you are attempting to upload from a slower network, you will need to make sure the video upload completes and you are able to assign a title and description. Depending on your upload device, you may inadvertently disrupt the upload process by allowing your device to go to sleep or shut off. Stream It pulls the address associated with your econnect account. If you have uploaded several videos to Stream It you may want to review what you have uploaded. Find a faster network to upload your video. It is recommended that you go to the nearest college campus or go to a public wifi that is faster than your current network. If this occurs, you will need to try uploading again. It is recommended that the upload be done from a device that will not immediately go to sleep, or find a faster network to upload your video. You can update your address from the settings page of Stream It. The settings page can be accessed by clicking your name in the navigation menu and selecting settings. You can login to media.dcccd.edu to access your videos from the navigation menu. Last Edit: 3/27/17 13

Playlists The playlist page can be accessed from the main menu under the logged in user s name. The playlist appears similar to the video page, but with minor differences. From this screen you can embed the playlist, the current video, or make changes to your playlist. Modify Playlist To modify the playlist, you will need to click the small red box that will animate a drawer from the left of the video. This list will contain a thumbnail and title for every video in the playlist. To change the video order, simply click and drag the video to the appropriate order. If you would like to remove a video from the playlist, click the trashcan icon. Shared With In the very near future, you will be able to share your playlist to other users as well as allow them to add to the playlist. This is still being developed. This information will be updated as this feature is fully developed. Settings This page allows the user to upload an avatar, update their displayed name, update their , and moderate any comments that have been posted to their videos. Last Edit: 3/27/17 14
