4 3 The Interfacing is an easy-to-use product; however modeling can become complicated very quickly if you don't have the right settings on your workstation. If you are experiencing difficulties using the, take a look at the following topics to see if you can find an appropriate solution. 5 4 Expired signature causes an error to occur in the Models created in older versions of the cause errors concerning expired or revoked signatures to occur. The simplest way to resolve this error is to set macro security to low. To do this: 1. Click Tools. 2. Click Macros. 3. Click Security. 4. Click Low. 5. Click OK. Another way to resolve this error is to export the older model to csv, and then re-import the model in 6 (the newer version). NOTE: Saving the old model will not create a new signature. The simplest way to do this is: 1. Right-click the.zip file. 2. Select WinZip > Extract to Select the appropriate location and click Extract. Select the appropriate location and click Extract. Once you have extracted the contents properly, you should be able to install the Interfacing BPMN Modeler for Visio.

6 5 The BPMN Stencils are not displayed By default, the opens with two shape stencils; the Scenario Advanced stencil and the BPMN stencil. Sometimes (depending on your set-up) when you select the Scenario Advanced stencil, the BPMN stencil is minimized. Before you continue, please verify whether the BPMN stencil is located at the bottom of the Shapes frame. If the BPMN stencil is not minimized, and no longer displayed, then you can add the stencil to your other Visio stencils. To do this: 1. Open a new BPMN model (Start > All Programs > Interfacing for Visio > New BPMN Model). 2. Open the File menu and select Shapes... > Open Stencil. 3. By default, for 32-bits OS, the BPMN stencils are saved in the following location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX\Solutions\BPMN; for 64-bits OS, the BPMN stencils are saved in the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\microsoft Office\OfficeXX\Solutions\BPMN. If you installed MS Visio in a location other than the one provided by default, then you will need to navigate to that location. 4. The stencil with the BPMN shapes is saved as 2VScenario.vss, while the stencil with the additional modeling shapes is saved as 2VScenario Advanced.vss. Select the necessary stencils and click Open.

The model will open, but it will open with Visio and not the Interfacing. To successfully access your saved models, always open the Interfacing first (Start > All Programs > Interfacing for Visio > New BPMN Model), and then access your files from the actual program (File > Open). This will ensure that you are working with our BPMN plug-in, and not the regular Visio program.

26 Frequently Asked Questions 25 How do I convert my Visio processes to the? You can import your Visio processes into the Interfacing using the Process Converter. Please note that only Visio shapes will be converted. Roles, materials and other properties will not be included in the conversion. Before you begin... In order to optimize this conversion process, there are a few things that you should first verify in your Visio file. 1. Verify that all the dynamic connectors are properly attached to your process shapes. Select your connectors to verify that both ends are red, which indicates that it is securely linked on both ends. Connectors with green ends mean that they are not actually linked to the shape. Before continuing with the conversion process, link any connector that is not already properly attached. 2. Know your BPMN shapes before you begin the conversion process It is important that you have a good grasp of BPMN modeling before you start to convert your Visio files, which will help you to accurately convert Visio shapes into their BPMN equivalent. For an introduction to BPMN modeling, please consult the Tutorial. 3. Verify that all Off-Page References are properly identified For the most part, your off-page references should be converted as inter-process links. In order to optimize the conversion, it is very important that the references are named and that the names are unique to that pair of references. To name off-page references, select the Text Tool from the Visio toolbar and enter the appropriate names. You must also check that each reference has a corresponding off-page reference on a different page - otherwise, the off-page reference will not be converted in your BPMN file. You can verify this by doubleclicking the off-page reference - if it is properly set, the process should navigate to the shape's corresponding reference.

27 Frequently Asked Questions 26 Run the Process Converter Wizard Before you run the Process Converter Wizard, save and close the model that you wish to convert. 1. Select Start > All Programs > Interfacing for Visio > New BPMN Model to open a new file. 2. Open the Interfacing menu and select Import/Export > Process Converter Wizard. The Process Converter will open. 3. Click Next to continue. 4. Select Browse next to the Source Files window to choose the Visio file you wish to convert. By default, a blank BPMN Model file is added to the Destination Files window. If you wish to import your Visio process into existing files, select Browse from the Destination Files window, then choose the desired file(s). Click Next once you are finished.

28 Frequently Asked Questions A list of all the shapes used in your selected Visio file will be displayed. For each shape, you will be asked to select a corresponding BPMN shape. If there is no corresponding BPMN shape, you can either select Ignore or Copy as Is. If you select Ignore, the Visio shape will not be included in your BPMN file. If you select Copy As Is, the shape will maintain its properties. However, these shapes will not be converted with their attached links, and will be copied to the lower left corner of the page. You can save your mappings once you are finished by clicking Save. This feature is useful if you plan on converting multiple Visio files. After you have converted your initial file, you can load the same conversion settings by clicking Load and then selecting the.dat file that was previously saved. Click Next to continue, once you are finished. 6. The last element of your Visio maps that must be established is the process hierarchy. The name of your Visio file will always be converted as your top-process, however, it is up to you to decide how the rest of your processes should be arranged.

Your newly converted process should already be open.

30 Frequently Asked Questions 29 How do I link documents to my processes? Within the, documents are saved as Reference Files. If you intend to link documents to you processes and activities, first create a Reference File Page (Right-click the Scenario page and select Create Reference File Page). Select the FS ref_files shape from the Scenario Advanced stencil to add individual documents to your model. To assign the reference files directly to your process shapes, you must open the Custom Property Editor for the desired shape and then navigate to the Notes tab. From there, select the tab Reference Files and click Assign to associate the documents. To display reference files on your process map, open the Interfacing menu and select Interfacing Utilities > Hyperlink All Ref. Files How do I save my model in HTML? You can save your BPMN model as an HTML file, like any other Visio file. 1. Select File > Save as Web Page Verify that the name of the document and its location are correct. 3. Click Publish. The Save as Web Page window will be displayed. 4. Click OK once you are satisfied with the settings. The HTML file will be displayed once it has finished generating. Is the supported in Vista? Currently, the is supported with the Vista operating system. Can my BPMN models be imported into Interfacing's Enterprise Process Center? You can export your BPMN Models to.csv files, which can then be imported into Interfacing's Enterprise Process Center. To do this: 1. Open the Interfacing menu and select Import/Export > Export to CSV. 2. Select CSV Files. Chose the appropriate destination for the file, and enter the file's desired name. Click OK to continue.
