Mitel SX-200 Digital notes for VIP4000 The Mitel SX-200 Digital phone system requires COV ports to interface to the VIP4000 and a minimum for Generic 1003 software. The Voice Mail system requires one extension for each voice mail port. The Voice Mail card supports two channels per board jack. Use the supplied cords to connect the voice mail system to your main distribution frame (MDF) and the Mitel SX-200 Digital phone system. Channel assignments are as follows: 4 Port J1 Red and Green Channel 1 Yellow and Black Channel 2 J2 Red and Green Channel 3 Yellow and Black Channel 4 The following must be defined in the phone system for the voice mail to work properly. Customer Data Entry Forms 02 = Feature Access Codes (FAC) Feature number - 05 Call Forwarding - Busy / Don t Answer Define a number that the extensions can use to activate Call Forwarding - Busy / Don t Answer in the system. The number selected can not conflict with any other number in the system numbering plan Paging Access to Default Zone(s) Define a number that the extensions or voice mail ports can use to activate Paging Access to Default Zone(s) in the system. The paging equipment must be programmed in Form 18 - Miscellaneous System Ports, and COS Option 312 must be set to a default value. The number selected can not conflict with any other number in the system numbering plan. VoiceGate Corporation Page 1
- 12 Paging Access to Specific Zones Define a number that the extensions can use to activate Paging Access to Specific Zones in the system. The extensions or voice mail ports must have access to the zones(s) via COS Options 303 thru 311 (paging zone 1 thru 9). plan. The number selected can not conflict with any other number in the system numbering - 41 Send Message Define a number that the voice mail system will use to turn on/off the message lamp in the system. The number selected can not conflict with any other number in the system numbering plan. 03 = Class of Service (COS) Separate the Voice Mail, Digital and single line extension into three different Class of Service (COS). In the Class of Service (COS) define the following: Option number: Call Forwarding - Busy - Enable in Digital/SLT sets COS Call Forwarding - Don t Answer - Enable in Digital/SLT sets COS Call Forwarding - External - Enable in Digital/SLT sets COS COV Voice mail Port - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Message Waiting Setup - BELL - Enable in SLT sets COS ONLY Message Waiting Setup - LAMP - Enable in digital sets COS ONLY Message Sending - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 1 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 2 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 3 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 4 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 5 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 6 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 7 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 8 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging Zone 9 Access - Enable in Voice Mail COS ONLY Paging default (0-9) (0 Gives all Enabled Zones) VoiceGate Corporation Page 2
04 = System Options Option Number - 07 Cancel 24-Hour Message Waiting - Disable 09 = Station/SuperSet Telephones The extension numbers used for the VIP4000 MUST be in numeric consecutive order. If the extensions are on different COV cards that is acceptable, but renumber all the voice mail extensions with numbers in consecutive order. In the COS field use a different Class of Service (COS) number just for the voice mail ports, by doing this any change in the Class of Service (COS) or any other Class of Service (COS) will be isolated and easy to fix. In the TYPE field the voice mail ports must be a COV port. In the NAME field enter the following: Port 1 = VIP4000 Port 2 = VIP4001 Port 3 = VIP4002 Port 4 = VIP4003 Etc. VoiceGate Corporation Page 3
14 = Non-Dial-In Trunks Day and Night Answering In this form (Non-Dial-In) the SX-200 Digital phone system can be programmed so that different C.O. lines ring at different extensions/hunt groups depending if the phone system is in DAY or NIGHT 1 (N1) mode. Situation one Calls are answered by a receptionist during the day and calls are answered by an Automated Attendant at night. Solution In the DAY field enter in the extension number next to each of the C.O. lines that will answer the call during the day, and in the N1 field enter the hunt group number for the Voice Mail hunt group next to each of the C.O. lines that will answer the call at night. When the Mitel SX-200 Digital phone system is switched to NIGHT 1 (N1) mode all the calls will be answered by the Automated Attendant until switched back to DAY mode. Situation Two Solution Calls are answered with by an Automated Attendant all the time. In the DAY field enter the Voice Mail hunt group number next to each of the C.O. lines in the phone system to be answered. Call that are received during the day are answered with a Automated Attendant message. NOTE: If the Voice Mail/Automated Attendant needs to be disabled during regular office hours it is advisable to program in the Night 2 (N2) field an alternate answering position and instruct the operator how this is setup and when to activate it. VoiceGate Corporation Page 4
17 = Hunt Groups In this form (Hunt Groups) all the extension that will be connected to the VIP4000 should be programmed into a separate hunt group and assign a pilot number that does not conflict with any other number in the system numbering plan. The Group Type should be set to TERMINAL. If CIRCULAR is selected remove the extension assigned for message lamp function out of the hunt group, this will lower the chance of call collision. VoiceGate Corporation Page 5
