2 Applies To: The portal s navigation service and related interfaces enable you to control how users navigate in the portal. Essentially, the navigation service creates a tree of navigation nodes for each user who enters the portal. Each node represents specific content, or a collection of content, that can be viewed by the user. A set of tools the navigation service, navigation tag library and navigation iviews enable you to display the navigation tree for the current user and provide the necessary links for navigation. Summary This article will show how to build your own Simple N-Level. It includes all Java and XML code files and explanation how to construct the iview using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. 3 Navigation Tag Library The navigation tag library enables you to easily develop navigation iviews based on JSP pages. The tags provide access to the navigation nodes for the current user, and enable the user to iterate through those nodes. You can create top-level and detailed navigation iviews by iterating through the navigation nodes and building and displaying navigation links. Simple N-level Navigation Example SimpleNLevelNavigation.java package com.sap.portal.navigation.navigationtaglibrary.nlevelnavigation; import com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.*; import com.sapportals.portal.prt.resource.iresource; public class SimpleNLevelNavigation extends AbstractPortalComponent public void docontent(iportalcomponentrequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response) IResource jspresource = request.getresource(iresource.jsp, "pagelet/simplenlevelnavigation.jsp"); response.include(request, jspresource); SimpleNLevelNavigation.jsp <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.*" %> <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.resource.iresource" %> <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.portalruntime" %> <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.inavigationgenerator" %> <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.iportalcomponentrequest" %> <%@ taglib uri="navigationtaglibrary" prefix="nav" %> 2005 SAP AG The SAP Developer Network: 3

In the example it is first NavNodes level (_level = 1). After each client request this value (_level) will change according to user's chosen level. 2.b) User can set the number of NavNode levels to be shown. The parameter responsible for this is depthlevel. By default depthlevel is 3, but if getting the parameter from your par file fails depthlevel will be 1. This parameter can be any positive integer grater then c) Start iteration through the last chosen initial NavNodes level of the last selected node using iterateselectednavnodeslevel tag. For each node, starts recursive iteration through all its children nodes using the depth limit parameter. 2.d) Define each NavNodeAnchor using diff parameter, which helps to initialize each anchor "level" value at each NavNode children level SAP AG The SAP Developer Network: 7
