1 ASG-Rochade Bus for Rational Software Modeler Release Notes Version 3.01 for Windows December 21, 2012 RRS This publication describes all new features, changes and fixes of ASG-Rochade Bus for Rational Software Modeler (RSM) and Rational Software Architect (RSA) (herein called RSMBUS) introduced in this release. 1 ISP and Service Packs ASG encourages you to visit and sign onto the Intelligent Support Portal (ISP) to verify whether any product or documentation revisions, new maintenance, or service packs apply to this release of the product or its accompanying documentation. 2 Product Information 3 Issues RSMBUS is the TOOLBUS Interface for ASG-Rochade and Rational Software Modeler, which enables the import of UML Models from Rational Software Modeler (RSM), Rational Software Architect (RSA) and Rational Systems Developer (RSD) into the ASG-Rochade Repository, and the export of UML Models from the ASG-Rochade Repository to RSM, RSA and RSD. RSMBUS uses the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) to read and create UML models in RSM and RSA. 3.1 Using Extended Rochade Names As RSMBUS uses the Extended Rochade Names feature, make sure that the following prerequisites are installed: - Rochade Client - Rochade Java API - A subject area based on UML RIM RIM 1.30 (or higher) with Tree-like Structure ON You should use WebAccess or Metability for working with applications that were populated by ERSTUDIOBUS upload to ASG-Rochade. 2 2 There are certain limitations when you use AutoPilot for such applications. If you open such an application, you receive an AutoPilot message that explains these limitations. 3.2 Namespaces used with RSMBUS and Rochade XNS UML/MODEL is used as namespace for all items with item type starting with UML/ which are not contained in any namespace else. Modeling Tool Versions supported: Rational Software Modeler, Rational Software Architect and Rational Systems Developer or higher Manufacturer: IBM This version of RSMBUS works with applications that are based on UML-RIM 1.30 or higher. 6

8 6 Installation Instructions RSM model name is always used as model name in Rochade (cannot be changed). A reconciliation function has been added to the menu in order to establish links between the Proxy object references and the referenced objects in other models. Supports double-byte character sets (e.g. for Chinese, Japanese, Korean characters) Uses variable length export/import BUS file for RSM/RSA/RSD. User Defined Properties uploaded into text attribute UML/USER- DEFINED-PROPERTIES, and download to RSM (with Profile creation. UML/LONGNAME (qualified name) from RSM is filled for all objects. Supports upload and download of Interaction Diagrams (Sequence and Collaboration Diagrams). Supports upload and download of Diagram Notes. Datatypes with Attributes and Operations are supported for RMS 7.0. Supports upload and download of members of UML Components. Custom Properties of type Enumeration supported. Upload and download corrected for UML/INIT-VALUE for UML/ATTTRIBUTE and UML/PARAMETER. Upload and download corrected for UML/MULTIPLICITY for UML/ATTTRIBUTE. nullpointerexception caused by missing UML object names corrected. Installation Prerequisites for RSMBUS Note: Every single BUS has to be installed in a separate subdirectory. Prerequisite for RSMBUS is that the BUS will be installed in a separate subdirectory (e.g. c:\rochade\rsmbus). Application based on UML-RIM RSMBUS works with the UML-RIM 1.30 or higher. To install the UML-RIM, please call the ADM installation first (NT/Unix/...), and then the Application installation. After the ADM installation and Application installation for RSMBUS, you have to generate the UML-RIM and create an application based on that RIM. 8

9 If your Rochade contains already an application based on UML-RIM of a lower version and you want to use this application with RSMBUS, then this application has to be reorganized. Please also check if all item types of your application are activated (via Update View in the AutoPilot Application Administration). 9

10 6.1 System Requirements During installation you temporarily need about 5 MB of free disk space. Software Requirements for using ASG-Rochade - Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 - Rochade Client 7.0 (or higher) - Rochade Java API corresponding to your Rochade version - Rochade API DLLs corresponding to your Rochade version - A subject area based on UML RIM 1.30 (or higher) with Tree-like Structure ON - Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 or higher You can download MSXML from - The required ROCHBUS components are included in this RSMBUS package 6.2 Installation Rochade applications, such as RSMBUS, are installed in two steps, the ADM installation and the Application installation. The ADM installation requires that you have Operator or Administrator rights; hence this installation should be carried out by a system or database administrator. RSMBUS is not yet available to the end user after the ADM installation. The application installation installs RSMBUS on the local computer. This includes copying all the required programs and libraries to the local directories, as well as setting up the installation program for applications. The only prerequisite is that the applications have been installed in the administration environment. After the Application installation has been completed, RSMBUS is available to the end user. To start ADM installation 1. Double-click the icon of your Rochade ADM installation (ADM icon) for starting the ADM installation. 2. In the subsequent dialog select RSMBUS. To start Application installation 1. Double-click the icon of your Rochade Application installation (Application icon) for starting the application installation. 2. In the subsequent dialog select RSMBUS. Remark: RSMBUS can also be installed and executed from a File Server. 10

11 A default target directory is suggested, but you may choose a different directory if you wish. The installation directory will be created, and all necessary files will be copied into this directory. An RSMBUS icon will be created in the ROCHBUS folder. Note: Customization of the TOOLBUS interface is described in the RSMBUS User's Guide. 6.3 Starting and Using RSMBUS Starting and using RSMBUS is described in the RSMBUS User's Guide. 6.4 Installing, Starting and Using the Eclipse Plugin for RSMBUS Installing, starting and using the Eclipse Plugins for the RSMBUS Export and Import wizards for RSM is described in the RSMBUS User's Guide. 11
