PowerDesigner.LDM files can be uploaded to an application based on the CDM RIM, or the RDM RIM. PowerDesigner.PDM or PowerAMC.MPD files can be uploaded to an application based on the RDM RIM. PowerDesigner.OOM files can be uploaded to an application based on the UML RIM. PowerDesigner.RQM files can be uploaded to an application based on the RQM RIM, or the UML RIM. 2 3 Issues 3.1 Completing the PowerDesigner Diagram For completing the Diagram layout for subtypes, please call within PowerDesigner the function under menu Dictionary Submodel Update Graphics Then you will see the complete Diagram with the relationships between Super-Entity, Subtype-Set and Sub-Entities. 3.2 XMLDOM (MSXML) If during your PWRDESBUS run you get an error message like "OLE error on access to MS XMLDOM objects" "Please check installation of MS XMLDOM" or "OLE error on access to MS XMLDOM objects" "Please install Microsoft XML Parser" then check if Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Release (or higher) is installed. If yes, a file msxml3.dll must be present in the subdirectory \system32 of your Windows root directory. MSXML 3.0 or higher is a prerequisite for PWRDESBUS. MSXML can be downloaded from It requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 (or higher) for full functionality. 3.3 Fix for PWRDESBUS 3.22 Search for fixes for PWRDESBUS 3.22 available from the ISP and take the following: Fix Reference: 3.22 This fix is supplied to "fix up" item definitions that resulted from uploads using earlier PWRDESBUS versions. Items of type PWRDES/CDM-MODEL store references to relationship items in the wrong link attribute. This fix will correct PWRDES/CDM- MODEL items and store references to relationship items in the correct link attribute. 2

3 3.4 Using Extended Rochade Names (for PWRDESBUS 4.01 or higher) If you want to use the Extended Rochade Names feature for PWRDESBUS, make sure that the following prerequisites are installed: Rochade Client 7.0 (or higher) with the corresponding Java API A Rochade AutoPilot application based on CDM RIM 1.53 (or higher) with Treelike Structure ON A Rochade AutoPilot application based on RDM RIM 1.24 (or higher) with Treelike Structure ON Or a Rochade AutoPilot application based on RQM RIM 1.03 (or higher) with Tree-like Structure ON Or a Rochade AutoPilot application based on UML RIM 1.30 (or higher) with Tree-like Structure ON Or a Rochade AutoPilot application based on PWRDESBUS-RIM 1.24 or higher with Tree-like Structure ON The new Rochade product WebAccess or Metability should be used for work with applications which were filled by PWRDESBUS upload to Rochade (XNS). There are certain limitations when you use AutoPilot for such applications. If you open such an application, you receive an AutoPilot message that explains these limitations. 3

9 PWRDES/LOGICAL-COLUMN-PAIR 3.6 PWRDESBUS handling about Item Type deletion 4 Compatibility PWRDESBUS and PWRDESBUS using XNS with Namespace=Rochade Database work as follows: "Independent" items like subjectareas, entities, relationships and value sets are never deleted by PWRDESBUS. This is because these item types can be used by more than one model within the same Rochade application (if more than one model is uploaded into on Rochade application). "Dependent" items like attributes, identifiers and allowed values are deleted by PWRDESBUS when the owning object is uploaded and does not longer contain the dependent item. 13 6 Installation Instructions Installation Prerequisites for PWRDESBUS Note: Every single BUS has to be installed in a separate subdirectory. Prerequisite for PWRDESBUS is that the BUS will be installed in a separate subdirectory (e.g. c:\rochade\pwrdesbus). Application based on PWRDES-RIM, CDM RIM, RDM RIM, RQM RIM or UML RIM PWRDESBUS works with the PWRDESBUS-RIM 1.24 (or higher), the CDM RIM 1.53 (or higher), the RDM RIM 1.24 (or higher), or the UML RIM 1.30 or higher. PowerDesigner.CDM (or PowerAMC.MCD) and.ldm files can be uploaded to an application based on the CDM RIM, or the RDM RIM. PowerDesigner.PDM or PowerAMC.MPD files can be uploaded to an application based on the RDM RIM. PowerDesigner.OOM files can be uploaded to an application based on the UML RIM. PowerDesigner.RQM files can be uploaded to an application based on the UML RIM. PowerDesigner.CDM,.PAM,.PDM,.WAM or PowerAMC.MCD or.mpd files can be uploaded in a application based on the PWRDESBUS-RIM. In order to install the CDM RIM, the RDM RIM, RQM RIM or the UML RIM, please call the ADM installation first (NT/Unix/...), and then the Application installation. The PWRDESBUS-RIM is included in your PWRDESBUS installation package. After the ADM installation and Application installation for PWRDESBUS, you have to generate the PWRDESBUS-RIM and create an application based on that RIM. If your Rochade contains already an application based on the PWRDESBUS- RIM, the CDM RIM, the RDM RIM, or UML RIM of a lower version, and you want to use this application with PWRDESBUS, then this application has to be reorganized. Please also check if all item types of your application are activated (via Update View in the AutoPilot Application Administration). 13

14 6.1 System Requirements During installation, you temporarily need about 5 MB of free disk space. 15 6.2 Installation Rochade applications, such as PWRDESBUS, are installed in two steps, the ADM installation and the Application installation. The ADM installation requires that you have Operator or Administrator rights; hence this installation should be carried out by a system or database administrator. PWRDESBUS is not yet available to the end user after the ADM installation. The application installation installs PWRDESBUS on the local computer. This includes copying all the required programs and libraries to the local directories, as well as setting up the installation program for applications. The only prerequisite is that the applications have been installed in the administration environment. After the Application installation has been completed, PWRDESBUS is available to the end user. To start ADM installation 1. Double-click the icon of your Rochade ADM installation (ADM icon) for starting the ADM installation. 2. In the subsequent dialog select PWRDESBUS. To start Application installation 1. Double-click the icon of your Rochade Application installation (Application icon) for starting the application installation. 2. In the subsequent dialog select PWRDESBUS. Remark: PWRDESBUS can also be installed and executed from a File Server. A default target directory is suggested, but you may choose a different directory if you wish. The installation directory will be created, and all necessary files will be copied into this directory. A PWRDESBUS icon will be created in the ROCHBUS folder. Note: Customization of the TOOLBUS interface is described in the PWRDESBUS User's Guide. 6.3 Starting and Using PWRDESBUS Starting and using PWRDESBUS is described in the PWRDESBUS User's Guide. 15
