5 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account In the Cloud9 dashboard, select Accounting Settings icon in the top right hand corner: Click to access your Account Settings menu in the Cloud9

7 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account A popup screen will appear requesting that you Sign in to GitHub Authorize Application You must verify your address before you can authorize the application. Click the Authorize Application button!

8 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account You have successfully connected your Cloud9 Account to GitHub account when you see the following screen!

9 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account In Cloud9 in the Account Settings screen, select the SECOND option. Click in the screen for the Connect to your private Git repository and copy this key in the buffer!!!! CTRL + C (Windows) or Command + C (Mac)

10 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account In order to add the SSH Key from Cloud9 to GitHub, go to GitHub and select the Settings option using the View Profile and More icon in the top right corner.

11 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account In GitHub, select the SSH Keys option. Select the Add SSH Key button.

12 Step #2: Link Cloud9 Account to GitHub Account Give this SSH Key the following Title: Cloud9 Paste the SSH Key in the Key textbox. (CTRL+V for Windows; Command+V for Mac) Press Add Key button.

13 Step #3: Configure git in Cloud9 In Cloud9, open the workstation for the current Lesson by clicking the following icon in the top right hand corner in the Cloud9 dashboard: and then select the button to open the desired workstation. In the Terminal in Cloud9, configure your Cloud9 workstation for git by entering the following commands below: COMMANDS TO ENTER IN THE Cloud9 TERMINAL: (Type commands AFTER the $ ): $ git config --global user.name PUT YOUR NAME HERE $ git config --global user. PUT YOUR ADDRESS HERE Example: $ git config --global user.name Mary Smith $ git config --global user. msmith@fsu.edu

14 Step #4: Move Files to Local Repository (Cloud9) In Cloud9 Terminal, create the local git repository by entering the following commands: COMMANDS TO ENTER IN THE Cloud9 TERMINAL: (Type commands AFTER the $ ): $ git init $ git add. $ git commit -m first commit for lesson 3

19 Step #6: Push (Backup) files to the Remote Repository (GitHub) In GitHub: Select the SSH button in the new remote repository Copy each statement in or push an existing repository section or just click the copy button

20 Step #6: Push (Backup) files to the Remote Repository (GitHub) In Cloud9: Paste or enter the commands that were copied in the previous step in the Cloud9 Terminal to PUSH (or copy) the code to your remote repository in GitHub by typing the following commands: COMMANDS TO ENTER IN Cloud9 TERMINAL: (Type commands after the $ ) $ git remote add origin git@github.com:your-username/project-title.git $ git push -u origin master REPLACE WITH YOUR LINK!

21 Step #6: Push (Backup) files to the Remote Repository (GitHub) An example of adding files to a remote repository from a local repository. This is done by pushing the files to the remote repository. (See below) **NOTE: Your statements may not match exactly!! You should see the last statement indicating that the branch is set up!

22 Step #7: Verify! New Remote Repository (GitHub) contains Files from Local Repository (Cloud9) Go back to GitHub and refresh the browser to view the newly PUSHED files!
