This has been identified as a fault with the setup of the SVMi-20 s hard drive. The affected SVMi-20 cards can be fixed in the field using the following procedure after obtaining a replacement hard drive from Samsung. Please note if the SVMi-20 cannot be booted to the System Shell from the boot menu the SVMi-20 hard drive can still be replaced with a replacement unit but to recover the customers configuration and any recordings the faulty unit will have to be sent back to Samsung for repair. Hard disc drive exchange procedure 1. Set the IP address on the SVMi-20 using HyperTerminal through the SIO port 2. Reboot the SVMi-20 Note points 1 and 2 are only necessary if there is no valid IP address already programmed on to the SVMi-20, an alternative is to start from point 3 using the default IP address of with a gateway of and subnet of , but it is advised to set a valid IP address. 3. Connect your PC to the SVMi-20 LAN port using a cross over cable, setting the appropriate IP address on your PC so you can successfully ping the SVMi Using HyperTerminal and the SIO port connect to the SVMi20, reboot the card and follow the procedure below by entering the commands highlighted in Red Italic s below as the card reboots. 4 5. Create a directory on your PC called SVMi20 6. Download the entire contents of the SVMi-20 hard drive to your PC into the SVMi20 directory using ftp (Username: su Password: su) 7. Shutdown the system and replace the faulty hard drive on the SVMi-20 with the replacement SVMi-20 hard drive supplied by Samsung. Remove the hard drive by removing the four screws that hold the complete hard drive caddy assembly to the circuit board and take care when removing the ribbon cable connector from the hard drive to ensure that no pins get damaged. Attach the replacement hard drive in the reverse order as the removal in step Power the system back up and set the required IP address on the SVMi-20 as per points 1 and Reboot the SVMi Repeat Step Now upload using ftp (Username: su Password: su) all the files and directories previously stored in Step 6, to the SVMi-20 overwriting any files already stored on the SVMi-20.
