1 TECHNICAL WHITEPAPER IMAGINiT Technologies Utilities for Revit 2014 Network Licensing Setup Guide In this guide you will learn how to setup the network licensing using the IMAGINiT Technologies Setup Helper and start the service to grant licenses. In This Paper I highly recommend you use the Setup Helper as it makes the process very easy. Pre-work (must be done by your portal administrator) Note: this process is essentially the same for version 2011 through 2014, so the images are not changed. Pre-work (must be done by your portal administrator) 1. Login to the IMAGINiT Technologies ProductivityNOW Portal ( and download the network version. Installation and Configuration Additional information About the Author: Jeff Lotan 2. While still logged into the ProductivityNOW Portal generate a license/activation code. Installation and Configuration You should install the license manager (IMAGINITNetworkLicSrv.exe) onto a server or a computer that will be on all the time. If the license manager machine is turned off, then no licenses will be available for anyone. Once you ve downloaded and installed the license manager (extract and run IMAGINITNetworkLicSrv.exe from the.zip file you downloaded) run the Setup Helper (fig 1) In Windows click Start->Programs (or All Programs)->IMAGINiT Technologies Solutions->License Server->Setup Helper. 2 This will launch the setup helper where you will go through each tab. Figure 2 Click the Authorize License on the License File tab and paste in the code you generated from the Client Portal, then click Authorize (see Fig 3). 3 And finally the message that you must setup an Options file Figure 7 Now select the Options file tab and it should show you a line: INCLUDE IMAGINiT IMAGINiTRvtUtilities USER username Where username is the current login name (fig 8). Jeff was my login name when I ran the Setup Helper. Figure 8 You can copy/paste that line multiple times and change the username to reflect who you want to access the utilities (fig 9). Only the names listed will be able to access the IMAGINiT Technologies Utilities for Revit There was a name change with the 2012 and later utilities from AvatechUtilities to IMAGINiTRvtUtilities. So with the Utilities for Revit 2012 and later use the IMAGINiTRvtUtilities (use the default example that comes up). If you need to add/remove names, just run the Setup Helper again and modify it. You will also need to run lmtools (see fig 1), select the Start/Stop/Reread tab and click ReRead License File. Note: It takes 12 hours for these changes to take place. 4 Click View Log to verify that everything seems to be working (fig 11). Figure 11 The key things to look for in the Debug Log file are the INCLUDE USER lines to ensure the names you entered are showing up and the line Number of INCLUDED entries for USER_BASED feature IMAGINiT TechnologiesUtilities is x, maximum is y where x is the number of names you entered and y is the number of seats able to be granted to users. Now select the Help tab (fig 12) and you can scroll through the information about your setup/configuration/ authcode/etc and you can also bring up the Flexera Software (formerly Acresso ) help file by clicking the FLEXlm Documentation link. 5 Additional information: Here is some important information from our ProductivityNOW Portal page: These IMAGINiT Technologies productivity tools, which sell for up to $395 each, are available exclusively for IMAGINiT Technologies Autodesk Subscription clients at no charge. Activate up to 50 seats right now. After downloading your software, look in the My Authcodes section to see if you already have an existing authorization code. If you don t have an existing AuthCode, then you ll need to generate one. Our blog on creating a standalone is the same process, however instead of selecting the standalone license select the Named User version. Important: For products that have both a Stand-Alone and Named-User Network versions, you will only be able generate authorization codes for a specific version type and not both. You can have multiple Flex License Managers installed, however you should not use the same one to configure/run all the services. Run the IMAGINiT Technologies lmtools to manage your IMAGINiT Technologies Utilities for Revit 2014 licenses. It can be confusing because each license manager will see the other services. This happens because they all share the same registry settings. If you only use one lmtools to manage all services it can cause the license manager to become confused and typically takes quite a while to fix it.
