Other names may be trademarks of their respective owners. What is Tablature Maker? The TABLATURE MAKER is an application designed to create new tablatures for your FR-18 diatonic accordion. Using the TABLATURE MAKER you can also edit the tablatures that are already provided in your FR-18 diatonic. This guide explains how to create, edit, import and export tablatures. MEMO: This document applies to both the Windows versions and the Mac versions. The operations are described using the Windows version as an example. Installing Tablature Maker TABLATURE MAKER requires no installation. It s a directly executable Java(TM) application To run TABLATURE MAKER you need a computer with Java (JRE) installed on. Check the following points before you begin running TABLATURE MAKER. You must log onto your computer with administrative privileges. To run TABLATURE MAKER you need a computer with Java(TM) version 6 or upward installed on. Please download latest Java(TM) version from (Free of charge) and install it 1. Double click on TablatureMaker.jar. The license agreement window appears. 2. Read the license agreement and, if you accept it, click on the I Agree, Proceed button. The following window appears: 1

2 Items in the screen [Import] button This button lets you read a tablature configuration file, that has been previously created by using TABLATURE MAKER. [Export] button This button lets you save the edited current tablature set. Filename drop down field This field lets you choose the name of the tablature set. You can save 4 different tablature set files. Name field Use this field to assign a name to each tablature. Tablature drop down field This field is used to choose one of 12 different tablatures. Key drop down field This field is used to choose the original key of each tablature. [Configure Treble Keyboard] button Use this button to open the treble keyboard configuration window. [Configure Bass Keyboard] button This button allows you to open the bass keyboard configuration window. 2

3 Functions Description Editing Tablatures The TABLATURE MAKER editor allows you to edit a tablature or create a new one. The TABLATURE MAKER editor contains 12 factory tablatures, the same ones as those you have in your FR- 18 diatonic accordion. 1. Use the Tablature drop down field to select the tablature you wish to edit (1~12). 2. If necessary, select the Key of tablature in Key drop down field (C, C#, D, Eb, E, F, F#, G, Ab, A, Bb, B). This key value is referred to the tablature you wish to create. This value is detected by FR-18 diatonic to understand what is the original key of the selected tablature. The default Key value is G (The same as FR-18 diatonic). Configure the Treble Keyboard 3. Click on the [Configure Treble Keyboard] button. The following additional Treble Keyboard Configuration window appears: 4. If you want to reset all treble button values, click on the [Reset All] button. All treble buttons are set Off/Off 5. Click on a single treble button you want to edit. The following additional Editing Key window appears: 3

4 6. Use the Closing Note drop down field to select the note you wish when closing bellows. 7. Use the Opening Note drop down field to select the note you wish when opening bellows. 8. Click on the [Set] button to confirm. Otherwise click on the [Cancel] button to exit without changing any value. 9. Repeat steps (5) to (8) to edit other treble buttons. 10. Close the Treble Keyboard Configuration window. Configure the Bass Keyboard 11. Click on the [Configure Bass Keyboard] button. The following Bass Keyboard Configuration window appears: 12. If you want to reset all bass button values, click on the [Reset All] button. All bass button are set Off/Off 13. Click on a single bass button you wish to edit. The following additional Editing Key window appears: 14. Set the Chord check box if the edited key is a chord button. If you set the Chord check box, the Editing Key window changes as follows: 4

5 15. Use the Closing Note drop down field to select the note you wish when closing bellows. 16. Use the Opening Note drop down field to select the note you wish when opening bellows. 17. If you have previously set the Chord check box, select your desired chord as the Closing Note and Opening Note (maj, min, 7 th, dim). 18. Click on the [Set] button to confirm. Otherwise click on the [Cancel] button to exit without changing any value. 19. Repeat steps (13) to (18) to edit other bass buttons. 20. Close the Bass Keyboard Configuration window. If you are satisfied with your changes and wish to preserve them, export the tablature Set. See Exporting a Tablature Set below. Exporting a Tablature Set The Export function lets you save tablature set files. 1. Select one of four tablature set name by the Filename drop down field. You can save 4 different files with fixed name: RDKC1, RDKC2, RDKC3 and RDKC4 2. Click on the [Export] button A window lets you navigate through folders in your mass storage device. 3. Choose your desired location and confirm. Importing a Tablature Set into TABLATURE MAKER editor The Import function lets you load tablature set files. 1. Click on the [Import] button A window lets you navigate through folders in your mass storage device. 2. Select the tablature set file you want to import and confirm. Importing Tablature Set into FR-18 diatonic Accordion. The following procedure lets you import tablature into FR-18 diatonic Accordion. IMPORTANT REMARK: Each tablature file contains 12 tablature settings. Loading one of them will overwrite your own 12 tablature settings that you may have created with the special software (page 34). You cannot select just a single setting from a Tablature Set file. 5

6 1. Connect an optional USB memory to the computer s USB port. 2. Copy any desired tablature set(s) (RDKC1.XML, RDKC2.XML, RDKC3.XML, RDKC4.XML) into USB memory root folder. 3. Disconnect the optional USB memory using safe removal procedure of your computer. 4. Connect the optional USB memory to the FR-18 diatonic s USB MEMORY port. 5. Press and hold the [SET] register (it flashes slowly). The treble keyboard doesn t play. 6. Press button 37 on the treble keyboard to select the Import Tablatures parameter. 7. The [SET] register flashes quickly and registers [1], [2], [3], [4] light yellow or red: Red means that the USB memory contains no tablature file (the corresponding treble register does nothing). Yellow means that the USB memory does contain settings for the corresponding tablature file (1, 2, 3 or 4). 8. Press treble register [1], [2], [3] or [4] to select the Tablature Set (12 settings!) you want to load. 9. Press the [SET] register again to exit Function mode. If one of the treble registers flashes red, the FR-18 diatonic has noticed an error: Missing USB memory Load error Do not rename the tablature set file (RDKC1.XML, RDKC2.XML, RDKC3.XML and RDKC4.XML). Using different names your accordion doesn t recognize them as tablature sets.
