1 K-Tools for NAV Projects Part 1 Before we start K-Tools; Startup; Setup; Create NAV Project Rel. 05 November 2013 Introduction The purpose of this part of the guide is to briefly explain how K-Tools works and how we benefit from it s usage in NAV Projects. It also contains a Step-By-Step Guide for creating a new project and processes to be followed. The guide is accessible from K-Tools Help Menu. Contents 1. 2 Introduction The purpose of this part of the guide is to briefly explain how K-Tools works and how we benefit from it s usage in NAV Projects. It also contains a Step-By-Step Guide for creating a new project and processes to be followed. The guide is accessible from K-Tools Help Menu. 1. Before we start K-Tools 1.1 How K-Tools works K-Tools works as a link between the engineer, Axapta and Team Center. It reads project information from Dynamics Axapta and based on the HW and SW requirements there creates a project model and upon request automatically generates drawings, procedures, manuals, lists using DMS and PLM (a copy database of Team Center meant to be used only by K-Tools to gain speed). Before creating a new project in K-Tools Axapta Sales Lines are to be completed, Product Line and Location Info entered as well. K-Tools uses these when sorting documents and chapters. If changes in Sales Orders are done after the project is created there is an option to Update the K-Tools project so it will reflect the changes. 1.2 Assigning Product Lines and Location Info in Axapta Product Line is a very important information for K-Tools. Almost all documents generated by K-Tools use Product Line as a sorting option. Product Line Structure is to be established in Ax Installation Register before such can be assigned to the SO items. It is responsibility of the engineer to establish correct Product Line Structure. It is very important not only for K-Tools, but also for CRM. Location info also need to be filled, K-Tools has the option of sorting the items based on it s location and also it gives a clearer overview where they are to be installed/located.

1.3 The difference in using K-Tools for NAV Projects compared to K-Chief, K-Pos and K-Thrust The most significant difference is the Cable Layout drawings.

NAV Project does not use automatically generated drawings, this has been tested numerously and found to be inefficient and very time consuming both for project use and maintenance of the database. That is why we have our Cable Layout Templates. Still Cable Layout drawings are to be used by K-Tools for update of the CableDB, for export of Cable List in XLS format, for Import Yard Cable No s. And we need to run once the Cable Layouts Generation because the Cable Layout drawings with the names originally generated will be the only ones that K-Tools will search W-Numbers in when updating the CableDB! 2. Starting K-Tools and creating new project 2.1 Startup To have access to latest functionalities, users in Norway shall use the K-tools latest release, not via Citrix, the current version is K-Tools Users out of Norway shall always use K-Tools via Citrix Receiver and with the proper settings which will be described further below!

4 2.2 Setup Select Default Family - once you open K-Tools for the first time you must select your Default Family. It is under menu Configuration, Local Options. Apply settings for site: NAV Users in Norway shall choose Kongsberg, NAV Dept:

5 NAV Users out of Norway shall choose Kongsberg, NAV Dept on Citrix: Pay special attention to Project Online Folder make sure it is \\tango\01040\projects_nav Also check the PLM Directory Folder it must be located in \\tango for users in Norway:

7 2.3 Create NAV Project Select Online Projects and press New Online : The Dynamic Wizard appears listing the steps to pass:

Select System Family Navigation and a release, usually latest release : Choose HW Responsible and type in the Top Project No in the field Project Number Begins With.

Double click on the project and you ll get a list with all Available Sub Projects. Double click on the NAV one, it will appear in Selected Projects window and then press Next :

9 Choose Sales Orders to be included in the project. Then press Next: Choose the Sale Lines you want to be included. Normally Select All is used and press Next :

10 A list of items not found in PLM appears. Just press Next : System Mapping view appears based on System and Product Lines. Press Next if no items in red:

11 Visual Edit view all items you want to be included in the project must have Part of System filled! If same items are listed many times - terminals, fuses, brackets, and you don t want all of them to appear in the Project Model then you may delete them. You may also add items here. When the list is as you wish press Next : Select the System SW Release and press Finish :

12 Project Model will be generated : Your Project is now created in K-Tools!
