2 Quickstart EDIT CONFIGURATION General Interface Hardware (IR/Serial) Config Name: Example House Example itach (itach WF/IPIR) URL: Template ipad/iphone x Assigned Controller(s) Theme Default Example Controller [Select Controller to Assign] Zones(s) Example Zone Cancel To create a new configuration go to and add a configuration by pressing + button in the Configurations panel. This will open an EDIT CONFIGURATION page with four panels which need to be completed in order for the Configuration to operate correctly on the Controller. Please ensure you have sufficient credits on your user account available to complete the configuration. One credit per zone, and one credit per controller is required. General. Name the configuration.. For the Template dropdown option, choose the ipad/iphone V. The Theme is preassigned Hardware Interface configuration. Add the hardware by pressing the + button in the Interface Hardware (IR/Serial) panel. Name the hardware and configure IP address accordingly. GUI Template - choose a generic or device specific template, button assignments can be changed in the Custom Buttons option later. Friendly name (the name of the device that appears in the GUI). Code Set Search: see below. Comms - in order for the Controller to communicate with the hardware via wi-fi, an interface device that bridges wi-fi and the existing control protocol is required. For example: IR, Serial or Contact Closure. The interface device and port selection is made in this setting. Naming and setting the IP address of the interface devices is done in the Interface Hardware panel. All these settings can be edited later by using the Edit Settings button in Editing Tools. Select the appropriate Code Set. If no appropriate Code Set can be found, use Command Manager to enter IP, Serial or IR codes, or use the learning function to learn-in IR codes. Command Manager can be downloaded from the Tools menu or by entering portal.controlx.com.au/mgr/ cxmgr.application. Use the arrows to order the Zone Device(s) accordingly Device Config. Device Image selects the device icon displayed in the Device Chooser menu of the Controller GUI. Page Image selects the device icon displayed on the page if External Device GUI Template is chosen. IP Connection TCP is chosen as default. For IR connections Always-on should be selected, for other connection types such as Serial or HTTP, Always-on should be deselected.. Display as allows device to be seen as source or hidden from view to perform only volume/ mute and source switching duties 5. Power Type - to select Toggle or Discrete power commands if either code is available in the code set 6. Power On selects whether the device is turned on with Zone Power On macro, On Demand, or Manually 7. Power Off selects whether the device is turned on with Zone Power Off macro, On Demand, or Manually 8. Display Button ID will display the number of the buttons in the device GUI that can be reassigned. Once this button is toggled these numbers on the Controller GUI only with the next download. Edit Device Allows these settings of the Zone Device(s) to be changed after initial setup:. GUI Template. Friendly name (the name of the device that appears in the GUI). Code Set. Add new Device Inputs with the + button of the Input Selection Macro.. Multiple commands can be selected with intercommand delay settings.. Insert as many commands as required for correct input changes. Including a display input command (as well as usual HDMI switching) with the Input Selection Macro is recommended. 5 Editing Tools Favourites Use Channel Favourites to configure the station selection page of your Set Top Box or Television. Choose 9 or 6 channels to populate either a x matrix of channel favourite buttons, or a x matrix. Channel graphics are preloaded. Use the Up / Down arrows to change the order that the channel favourites appear. Zone Macros are configured in the Zone Details menu App Launch will launch any app that has a known URL Scheme available, and are selected from the Action dropdown menu Buttons can be assigned any of these functions by selecting the associated button number in the dropdown menu. The button number dropdown contains numbers for either iphone or ipad GUI template buttons. GUI templates on the following pages show the button position on the GUI template, the button number and the default commands of each button. Macro creation and editing is done via clicking the EDIT icon. Edit Zone Macro Name Example Macro Steps Index Device Command Delay Example Command 000 Cancel. Macro commands are created by selecting the + button in Zone Macros. Commands are then added with the + button in Macro Steps. Any device and it s associated command within the selected zone can be selected. Delays are added before the command (ms). 7 Registering Controllers & Loading Configs Registering Controllers. Go to Controllers in the menubar of the ControlX portal - use the + button to add a Controller. Add a name or description for the Controller. Press. Follow the instructions in the window after installing iviewer from the Apple AppStore Add/Edit Controller Description AutoReg URL Example Name Status Waiting for Device... Refresh Cancel Apply To complete the controller registration process: Enter a description for the controller, then click 'Apply Install 'iviewer ' on your idevice from the Apple AppStore In 'Settings', select 'iviewer ' and enter the AutoReg URL in the 'File URL' field exactly as it appears above Start 'iviewer ' on your idevice Click 'Refresh' above once iviewer has launched on your idevice Loading Configs. Once the status displays as licenced in the Portal, enter the Configuration URL from the General Configuration window in the File URL field of the idevice. Close down and restart iviewer. The new GUI file will now load from the cloud.. Turn off Reload GUI layout and Reload GUI Assets in the settings of iviewer. Congratulations. The GUI is now loaded and ready to use. 16 Configuring the hardware interface Power LED Reset / IR Learning Port Ethernet (IP) itach Getting Started.. Apply power to the Ethernet (IP) itach. To determine the itachs IP address download the Global Cache ihelp application from downloads.. Run ihelp on a Windows PC connected to the same network. ihelp listens for itach multicast beacons and displays every itach MAC ID and IP address within one minute. Configure your itach by selecting it from the list and right-clicking on Configure to display the itach web pages in your local browser.. Select the itach Network page. If prompted for a password, select, if no password was previously entered. Enter your device IP settings and select Apply to permanently store them.. The itach unit LED status light will the itach power LED will blink once per second once it has connected to the network. WiFi itach Getting Started. Initially, the itach WiFi is an unsecured adhoc device that is discoverable with any wireless Windows laptop.. After applying power, view the available wireless networks and select itachmacid. The MAC ID is printed on the bottom label. For example, if the MAC ID is 000CE0B5C, the wireless network name will be itach000ce0b5c.. Once the connection is established, open a browser and enter IP address and select the itach Network page. If prompted for a password, select. Change the Network Type to Infrastructure and enter the SSID, Security Type, and Passphase to agree with your router settings. The router and itach entries need to be identical. Enable DHCP if you are not entering a static IP address, and select Apply to permanently store the settings.. The itach requires 0 seconds to connect to a network whenever a new security setting has been entered. Note, the itach power LED will blink once per second after it is connected to the infrastructure network.. To determine the itach IP address if required, download the Global Cache ihelp application from and run it on a Windows PC connected to the infrastructure network. ihelp listens for itach multicast beacons and displays every itach MAC ID and IP address within one minute. Troubleshooting. This process may be restarted at any time by resetting the itach back to factory defaults. Insert a metal pin (a large paper clip is ideal) into the opening approximately /8 inch ( mm) until the reset sequence begins. The reset sequence is indicated by the LEDs on the front of the itach beginning to blink during initialization. Use a light touch when resetting the product; force may damage the IR learner.
