4 Introduction This user manual is providing a detailed introduction and guidance to Tick Tool. The content is presented in the bookmark-navigation as a toolbar, in case the bookmark function is enabled in your PDF-viewer. Search function (ctrl+f) can be used in the bookmark-navigation to find quickly the desired information. The document contains linked references that navigate the reader within the user manual- marked with blue, elsewhere to Tick Cad YouTube-channel - marked with purple, to demonstrate Tick Tool`s functions and how to -s. 5 Getting started Installation Tick Tool Manage installation file is provided via e- mail with an attached and temporary accessible installation link and license key. By opening the link, Tick Tool Manage installation file automatically starts downloading through the internet. Open the file, once it is downloaded. Select Next two times, Yes and Close. Run Inventor and enable Tick Tool Basic application in Inventor Add-Ins. Activation Once Tick Tool Manage is installed on the computer, run Autodesk Inventor and open/start a new document (any type, except.ipn). Go to Manage,, which is always accesable under Tick Tool tab and on the very first tab of most Inventor file type. In Manage go to the Settings, then License tab to activate the product with the license key provided by Tick Cad via . Write the license key and company name into the fields and press Activate License. Number of days left appears, showing the duration of the valid key. Licences used indicates the remaining number of free licences in the company. Tick Tool Manage add-ons features are listed the window, under Features. To manage the package add-ons (add/remove functions), please contact your supporter. 1

6 Get started Manage is accessible on Tick Tool and on the first tab of Inventor panel list in most file type (.ipn is not included). Once Manage is open, it appears on an independent new window, that also takes place on the computer task bar. 7 User Interface Overview Get project data Get Data - lists the parts and subassemblies of the active Inventor assembly/model in a hierarchical view and also collects the element(s) data, like iproperties and related files like.idw,.stp. Once data is collected in Tick Tool Manage, a colour-system gives information to the user about files status: Green the file is updated Yellow the file is not updated Red the file is not created the file name is different from the Part Number Refresh File Status updates the colour of a cell if a related file to the model (.idw,.stp, etc. ) has been created/ deleted/modified/ updated. This function can be combined with Refresh iproperties if needed. Get Open Parts lists.ipt-s that are currently open in Inventor, only if the active file in Inventor is not an assembly, otherwise Manage will list the parts of the assembly. Reset Filter disables the set rules of row visibility. Get ERP Data 3

8 Create all documents Manage creates and saves documents from every listed parts and assemblies in the selected form. The visibility of the functions and the address of the created files must be defined in settings. JPG creates a picture about the model in Home view. Selected documents JPG created Manage creates and saves documents only from the selected parts and assemblies in the desired form. Multiple models can be selected in Manage with Ctrl. The visibility of a function must be defined in settings. Open Drawing Update Refresh iprops - updates the selected file iproperties from Inventor ERP Data to File Models, assemblies and drawings can be directly open from Manage and new drawings can be created from the selected model. 4

9 ERP Export Export BOM - exports the defined columns to Excel, that can be specified in settings Most of the functions are accessible via right click on a cell. Navigation to the file location is also available on the list. Note: files can be opened and created only in Overview tab. Parts-list table layout Displayed data in the table can be customized via the Column Chooser function, that is accessible with a right click on the name row. Drag and drop a property or file to de/activate it on the table. Custom properties can be added to the list as well, that must be defined in the settings. Filter The order of the listed models can be sorted a/descending. The function is available from the list or on the right side of a column label cell. On the column label Filter function is accessible, shown on figure, for reducing the listed models. Other display settings are available from the list, such as Group by settings and Best Fit. All changes can be set back to the default view with the Reset Filter function. value Filter and Filter Editor are the same function, they are only distinct in user interface. 10 Note: the theme of interface can be also selected Project Get Data is automatically loaded for the first time on Project view. This function reads the data from Overview, so overview must be refreshed first, when changes occur in the model. Refresh File Status and Reset Filter function the same as previously discussed. Remote copy- creates copy from the selected files, that exist on the Overview layout and saves it to the defined address, which can be specified in settings. These addresses temporarily can be override on the Remote Path window, in case a document should be saved to a different address than it is defined in the settings. Notes: click on R-PDF or other, opens the folder Remote paths window can be extended by clicking on the icon. 6

11 Open Folder - same function as on Print PDF window Export BOM - exports the defined columns to Excel, that can be specified in settings Prints the marked document(s) according to settings Count set how many pieces is need from the entire project then select Multiply to apply changes to Manage data Unlock Qty - allows to manually overwrite the Total Qty value of each model, however Total Qty will set back to the original value when Get Data or Count is applied. Print PDF Tick Tool Manage creates separate and merged PDFs with the Print PDF function, that enables further formatting on the printed files. Data and properties related to the drawing can be written on the margins of Print PDF sheet, like project, week and even more properties selected form the drop-down list. The displayed data and properties can be customized in setting. Add Folder - creates a folder with the Project name on the same location as it is defined in Path and places the Print PDF files into the created folder. Path - defines the address of Print PDF file 7

12 Process - execute the command Copy Files creates copies from the selected file format, that exist on Overview layout and saves them to the same location as the Print PDF. Total PDF name - title of the merged PDF document Note: the set up will be locally saved, therefore the edited fields will appear when next time Manage opens Open folder - shows the documents on the defined address Send to printer - executes printing command, the printers shall be defined in settings Keep Changes - saves the settings Sort Format - sorts.pdf-s based on size property (A4, A3, A2 etc.) Project vs Overview Summarizing the difference between Project and Overview functionality, it can be stated that Overview loads data from Inventor and Project loads data from Overview. Files can be created in Overview, meanwhile Project is extended with Total Qty and Where Used columns to track and to amplify models, plus edited and merged PDFs can be created. Settings Settings - open Tick Tool manage setting window Workspace Workspace is the definition of the appearance/displayed columns of Overview and Project layout. 8

13 On Workspace drop-down: Capture Workspace saves the current layout with a new name or replaces old one Workspaces - opens the Workspaces window, where workspaces can be loaded, removed, saved or copied. Note: The existing workspaces are listed under Workspaces on the drop-down list, which is the same as in the Workspaces window or on the Active drop-down list. Migrate - custom properties can be added to the Column Chooser list in settings, which must be applied to the interface by selecting Migrate. Reset Workspace change the columns to default Column Caption - overrides column names Configuration Configuration is the definition of Tick Tool Manage settings, like enabling functions and specifying address of created files. 9

14 Save config - saves the changing in setting as a new configuration or updates old one, selected from the list Existing configurations can be selected from the Configs drop-down list and activated by pressing Load Config. About gives information about the current product version and ect. 10

15 Settings In settings, a configuration can be customized by enabling and defining functions; specifying created file autosave addresses or adding/modifying properties. General Under General tab, Tick Tool Manage interface, program tracking options, print.pdf format, Vault functions and custom properties can be set and customized. Settings Enable Tool Tip - brief description of a function appears when the cursor stands on it Project filter same as Overview - automatically applies the Overview sorting to Project tab User Settings Folder - specification of configurations location, if pointing to a shared drive address, then ensures that each user runs the same settings Piece Unit - can be defined in stk or pcs form 11

16 Thumbnail Size - customize width and height properties of model preview picture Logging Enable Logging - saves a log file on the defined address, that Tick Cad Support group cab analyze, in case of unresolved error occurs. Vault Tick Tool Manage includes Vault Basic / Workgroup / Professional data managing. Enable Vault - activates functions that are related to Vault, like Model state When Processing File State Check Download - downloads every file from Vault related to the model Download and checkout - besides downloading every file from Vault, related to the model, checks them out under the signed in user name Keep Checked Out - once a file is checked out, it stays checked out When Processing Fileformat These settings are related to the command of creating a file, like.pdf or.sat, in Tick Tool Manage. 12

17 Check out if needed to update checks out the file before creating a new document, when it is older than the model. For example:.pdf shall be created about a drawing, that is older than its model. Check in Model after Processing File formats - 3D model is checked in to Vault after it is converted and saved in a different format Check in Drawing after Processing File formats - 2D drawing is checked in to Vault after it is converted and saved in a different format Important: When Vault function is enabled in Tick Tool Manage Setting, new icons appear on Overview toolbar and new properties are available from the Column Chooser, like MState (Model State), Workflow Status D (Drawing`s Workflow State) Workflow with Vault functions After loading data from Inventor with Get Data function, select Refresh Vault Status to syncronize the loaded data with Vault. On Create all documents tab, Model State and Drawing State can be separately refreshed for each listed part in one operation. 13

18 On Selected Documents tab, chosen parts` Model State and Drawing State can be updated and their drawings can be checked in to / out from Vault. Vault Log in Access also appears on Tick Tool Manage toolbar, that automatically signs in with the active user account. Print Print Configurator 14

19 Printed.pdf files can be formatted with custom texts and properties stamped on the sheet margins. Custom text 1 and 2 are unique data, that must be filled out on Tick Tool Manage Print PDF user interface, that is placed on the Project tab. Property 1, 2 and 3 can be selected from the drop-down list, which will be filled out automatically. The positions of the text can be defined by marking Top or Bottom field. Font Size can be set between 6 and 72. Keep merged only - individual.pdf for each drawing will NOT be created. Incl. page number - add page number to the lower-right corner Enable Export BOM to Excel - export the grid directly to excel Data Aware Excel Export all cell data will be exported, EXEPT images Printer Settings Printed PDF Relevant sheet sizes` printer must be defined in the indicated fields, so that the Send to printer command can run for activation. 20 New Properties or Inventor iproperties can be added to Tick Tool Manage data. A data type can be text, date, number and yes/no value. Once a property is added, on Setting tab select Migrate to apply the property to the Column Chooser list, so that it can be visible on the workspace. Created properties can be deleted by selecting the unwanted property in the table and select Remove. Layout 16

21 On Layout-tab the user interface of Overview and Project are separately customized by enabling the desired tabs and functions, marking them on the drop-down list. Workspace and Configuration options displays the existing workspace and configurations on the toolbar. Config String Once a layout of a workspace is defined, it can be shared with other users or configurations. First, select Make Config String, which fills out the Config String field with the currently selected functions. The first icon after the field copies the string to a clip folder and the second one loads the configuration to the current layout. 17

22 Models Within Models tab, assembly, standard and sheet metal parts related settings can be defined. General DXF FP (flat pattern), STP and SAT file can be created automatically and simultaneously, as the user manually create a document of a model in the selected master format, which command generates further on new files, defined on the Also make with master". Example This set up automatically creats an STP and a SAT file, as the user creats a DXF FP-if the Flat Pattern view alredy exists in Inventor- file and additionally, the master model will be saved / updated again. Derived Assembly Structure - derived assemblies are listed Include Virtual Components - files with virtual components BOM structure are listed Part Include All open Part in Part only lists every part, that is opened in Inventor Refresh File Status Refresh iproperties if needed automatically runs refresh iprops command when the model is newer, than the latest update in Tick Tool Manage DXF Flat Pattern Features visibility and line properties can be set in the table, that are applied to the DXF file style. Desired AutoCAD version can be set 19

24 File placement Each processed file saving option are generally built up the same way, therefore it is discussed only once with an example based on DXF Flat Pattern file placement. DXF path same as IPT - created DXF file saved on the same address as the model DXF Path - created DXF file saved on a specific address, that is independent from the model location Output format -selection of file type, this function is only available in DXF Flat Pattern, DWF 3D and DWF file creation Advanced remote path set up a dynamic path for DXF file location 20

25 Origin Path - base of the dynamic path Sample source folders - can be any address, as it only represents the created address structure the Sample source folders Source folder to skip - ignore folders from Folders to insert destination name(s) of new level, that is created as the DXF file is created and saved with Tick Tool Make DXF function Insert folder at level defines the new folder location in the address CalcFolder - gives a preview of the new address Source folders to copy All the entire sample address added to the new address content, except the skipped folders as previously defined and the content of Source folder level is ignored. 21

26 Latest copies defined amount of levels from the samples, starts with the first level after the skipped ones and ends with the defined level in Source folders level. Note: C is not counted. A new inserted folder is created as it is defined in Insert folder level. Force Create DXF - creates DXF file for every sheet metal part that has a Flat Pattern View in Inventor, even if the DXF file already exists and it is updated Close after create - closes the master file after a new file is created about it. Example: Create PDF command will open the IDW (master file) in Inventor, and as the PDF is created, Manage closes the IDW. This function cannot be applied at every format type. Note: Force create can be activated on the user interface as well, with Ctrl + right click 22

27 File naming Option 1- Create with simple Naming The created file gets the same name as its master file has. Include prefix in FileName - add expression-defined in field- before the master file name section Revision -add model/drawing revision number after the master name in the structure Always include Suffix - add expression-defined in field- as the last section of the new file name stucture Option 2- Create with Dynamic Naming Advance file name structure can be designed by selecting the name section properties from the Drop-down list. The selected properties can be separated with any kind and amount of character, defined in the Delimiter field. JPG Settings Resolution settings of created JPG files can be customized under JPG tab. 23

28 Drawings Within Drawings tab, part and assembly drawing templates and related processed file setting can be defined. General PDF, DWG, DXF, DWG, PCL file can be created automatically and simultaneously, as the user manually create a document of a model in the selected master format, which command generates further on new files, defined on the Also make with mater field. Example This set up automatically creates a DWF and a DXF fileif the Flat Pattern view already exists in Inventor-as the user creates a PDF and additionally, the master IDW will be saved / updated again. 24

29 Scan for unattached annotations - checks the IDW files if the selected annotation types are attached to an object. It keeps the drawings open in Inventor, when failure occurs and skips the actions. IDW/DWG Templates Standard or custom IDW templates of IPT and IAM files must be described in the appropriate fields. View orientation when drawing is created through Tick Tool Manage function, a view of the model is automatically placed to the drawing as it opens. The desired view must be selected from the drop-down list. IDW Close after create - Inventor closes the drawing as it created one Drawing type - can be selected as.idw or.dwg Get Drawing Revision - add a Revision Number field to Tick Tool Basic interface Get Drawing Sheet Size - reads a drawing sheet size and writes it to Manage Drawing Sheet column in the table 25

30 Get Drawing Migration Info Add information about a drawing style update, if a drawing is migrated to the new version of Inventor, then Yes is written into the field otherwise No means that the drawing should be migrated. Save IDW Option 1 Drawing same path as model file IDW saved next to the model Option 2 Dynamic Drawing Path - independent from model location, selected from the folder browser Copy Drawing saving option defined the same way. The following tabs contain the same structures related to Enable function, File Placement and File naming definition as under Model tabs, therefore only the additional functions are presented further on. In Advanced Path Setup the Sample source folders filed automatically points to the Model/Drawing source path. PDF 26

31 Print range Current sheet - creates PDF about the last active sheet Sheet Name - a specific sheet is exported as PDF, defined by its name, ex Sheet: 2 All sheets - creates multiple PDF-s if a drawing has several sheets in Inventor First Sheet, Last Sheet, Current Sheet - creates PDF about the specific sheet Print Settings All colors as black - lines that are differentiate from black color are printed in black Remove object line weight - lines are printed in the same thickness Print resolution van be set between 400 and DWG export The definitions on DWG, DXF, DWF and PCL tabs are identical. Into the first field, the address of an INI file must be defined, that contains the DWG file settings. Underneath, the export range can be defined, either every sheet or just the first/last sheet or the ones with identical name will be exported. 27

32 PCL All colors as black Remove object line weights In the filed the Printer Driver must be specified. Remote Files All the file types have identical remote file setup. 28

33 Remote files can be created only on Project interface of Tick Tool Manage. Remote file can be saved to an independent location, defined in the first field or with Advanced Path setup. Dynamic Filename Note: The addresses can be modified on the user interface, but it will not be saved locally, so that the next occasion Manage opens, the addresses from settings will be displayed. 29

34 Exporter Export to xls(x) Tick Tool Manage data can be exported to Excel. Several configurations can be created. A configuration defines custom setup for overview and for project under the same name, just like the interface configuration of Manage. Overview Overview and Project tabs functions are almost identical, therefore only the additional functions of Project are discussed separately. XLS Enable - displays the function on the user interface of Overview. Several configurasion can be defined. Select Add, define Name. Once multipule configurations are defined Manage requests a config definition, before the application runs. XLS Template path - set as default for the first time Default Location the address where the exported excel is saved XLS Template - costume template can be selected, which displayed properties are listed in the included properties column. 30

35 Start Row - definition of the first row of the exported table in the excel sheet Sheet Name - if this field is not edit as a costume sheet name, then the exported data is written on the first sheet Included properties window lists the exported properties. With the left/right arrow properties can be added / removed from certain list and their position in their current list can be changed with the up/down arrows. On Columns field the properties excel sheet location must be defined. Re-Index Columns - pars the excel sheet columns in alphabetic order to the exported properties as it is organized on the included properties window. Top assembly properties can be exported into specified cells. 31

36 Project Use Print PDF path as default - the created excel is saved on the same address as the Print PDF files Use Total PDF Name as default Gives the same name to the excel file as the merged PDF has Extra Properties Custom Text 1 and 2 can be added to the excel table into the defined cells. Note: on Project tab extra properties are added to the list, like R-PDF Hyperlink. 32

37 CSV Comma Separated Values Overview and Project Overview and Project tabs are completely identical. Tick Tool Manage data can be exported as comma separated values, that can be reused in other programs. CSV Enable - displays the function on the user interface Location define the created document location Static Name - if it is not marked and field out, the document is saved with the first model name of Tick Tool Manage Button Name override the function name on the toolbar Text Format select the text format from the drop-down list Delimiter - define a character, that divides the values Properties selection 33

38 Tick Tool Manage Extension External Connection External Connection functions enables the user to compare the model properties from Inventor with the company external database properties, that are collected in excel for example. Connection On the Connection tab, the external database location, access and specific table/view must be defined. Once the information about the external database is described, select Test Connection to examine the result, then select Add All Columns to apply the data to Tick Tool Manage. 34

39 Con. Properties When the external data is applied to Tick Tool Mange, as discussed before, the property types are listed on Connection properties tab. Properties of a property The properties of selected property from the list can be reviewed and added. Data Name displays the active property from the list Data Type can be selected from the drop-down list, that contains Text, Digits, Date and Yes/No options 35

40 Compare to prop Inventor property that is compared to the external data Alternative if the property set in Compare to prop field has no value in Inventor, then a secondary property can be defined External Color - on Tick Tool Manage interface, the ERP cell is marked with a defined color after the operation is finished, if it does not match with the Inventor property Inventor Color - on Tick Tool Manage interface, the defined property cell is marked with a defined color after the operation is finished, if it does not match with the external property Remove/Add if the database is not defined on Connection tab, then properties can be manually defined Update saves the modifications of a property Same colors copies the color definition of the active property to each property External Key The Primary Key of the external database must be defined, which is normally the Part number property. ERP Naming The functions name can be override on Tick Tool Manage interface. Web Service Web Service data definition is also available to connect to the company IRP system. 36

41 Note: once the setup is ready, run Migrate in Tick Tool Manage to activate the ERP columns on the column chooser list. Calculate Tick Tool Manage Calculate function gives an estimated price of sheet metal parts manufacturing costs, with a combination of operational cost, material selection, plus/added material, surface treatment and etc.. 42 Enable Calculate - displays the calculate function on the Overview user interface Note: when this function is marked on the user interface, then it automatically runs the calculation command, which can take a while Machinery Excel Path points to a built-in location, where several machinery and material costs are stated, which can be activated/ selected on Calculate user interface iprops to write to Inventor properties calculated or added in Tick Tool Manage can be exported to the Inventor model as well, so that they are listed on the custom property list of Inventor Also flush to drawing - the selected properties are added to the Inventor drawing of the model Cost decimals and Other decimals - precision of number value Units - length unit definition, mm; cm; m Calculate user interface Calculate window is accessible on Project interface, just as Print PDF or Remote paths. Select sheet metal parts Extra Length and Extra Width - material can be added to the flat pattern in with and in length as well for manufacturing purposes and for a more accurate cost estimation Machine select the excel sheet that states the manufacturing costs of a specific machine Marking Group selecting a desired operation type, that will be calculated Apply applies the values to the grid, so that the properties are displayed on the Column Chooser window Apply and Flush exports the values as iproperties to the Inventor model and applies the values to Tick Tool Manage grid Calc runs the command 38

43 Note: the excel sheets of pricing must be added manually by the costumer as the original content is not valid. Properties of Calculation function listed in the Column Chooser window: Bends Up, Bends Down; Calc_Mass; Calc_Scrap; Calc_Square; Cout Top Total Count; Cut Top Total Length; Extra Length; Extra Width; Total Cost; Total Mass; Unit Cost; Machine; Markup Group; SM Length, SM Width, SM_Scrap; SM_Square; SM_Style; SM_Thickness Project The application exports data to server database, so the information is accessible by non- Inventor / Tick Tool Manage users. User profiles are created in a secondary package, called Tick Tool Project. In Manage users cannot be created or modified. Through Manage a database can be accessed by Login with the created user name and password. In Settings, server tab, the user can connect to the server where Tick Tool Manage project files will be published. Set server back will overwrite the given definition and sets the default server (Tick Cad) back. Once the user connected to the server, the existing databases are listed on the drop-down list. 39

44 Property Setup (only accessible by Administrator users) On Property Setup the published properties can be selected and renamed in the Display Name field. The selected properties value can be overwritten in Tick Tool Project. To activate the modification and custom selection Is Editable must be marked. Publish On Publish window the existing project files are listed. New folder structure can be created and existing folder structure can be modified on the server by right clicking on a Project name. Select Publish from the list to share the active project in Manage. 40
