This version of QWS has security enabled by default (hence the name). Since our system doesn t use SSL, we have to disable this so remove the check mark as noted in the next graphic. 9

Under the menu QWS3270 select Connect. This will bring up a box, and in the Session Name pull-down, select the name you made above (FRS, HRS, SIS or TSO). Press Edit to bring up the Session Options.

11 Adjust the colors: Select Colors, then select 3279 blue and change it to light blue. Adjust the font: Select Display, then press Select Font.. and change it to Lucida Console regular 10pt. 11

12 Copy by area instead of by line: Select Copy/Paste, then (up at the top) select Copy and Paste in Block Mode. Make the Backspace key delete backwards (this is what you d expect the backspace key to do, and it isn t set up by default) Close the Options window if you are still viewing it. Select the menu Options / Keyboard. In the new window press the Enter key, press Remap Key then select Backspace (destructive). 12

13 Change Transfer Type: If you re going to upload files from your PC to the mainframe, this will save you a step: Select File Transfer, then change Host Type to TSO. Use the mouse wheel: (Optional) This will allow you to use the mouse to scroll ISPF panels. Select Mouse, and at the bottom, you will see options for the mouse wheel. 13

Change Terminal Type: (Optional) If you are using an LCD monitor that runs at 1280x1024, the default font may seem too tall. Select Connection and change Terminal Type to IBM-3278-3-E.

This will add more rows to the display and therefore reduce the font height. If the font is the wrong size on your system, you may have to experiment with a few settings.
