1 OCENSMail and Satellite Dialer for Mac Installation Notes OCENS Mail supports the following satellite phones: IsatPhone Pro Iridium 9555/9575 Iridium 9500/9505/9505a (via a Keyspan USA19 USB serial adapter) Globastar GSP1700, GSP1600 (via Keyspan USB adapter), GSP2900 Inmsarsat FleetBroadband terminals

2 Page 2 Installing OCENSMail OCENSMail can be downloaded over the Internet from our website at Download the DMG file save it to your desktop or insert the CD. To install OCENSMail: Double click on the DMG file to open it, Copy the OCENSMail.app icon to the Applications folder (or other preferred location) on your hard drive. If you are using a Keyspan USB Serial adapter to connect to your satellite phone you will need to install the drivers for this if you have not already. In the Drivers folder of the DMG you will find keyspanusadrvr***.pkg. Run the appropriate file for your operating system by double clicking on it. Now "Eject" the OCENSMail.DMG. Launch the OCENSMail application that you have copied to your computer. The first time your run OCENSMail a registration wizard will open. The wizard will guide you through registering and configuring OCENSMail and your satellite connection. Note: If you are using this for only use with WeatherNet then you will choose the WeatherNet Only User option. If you have purchased OCENS Mail via the web and received a Voucher code choose this option to register your software. If you have already submitted a service agreement to OCENS or already have a username and password then select Enter a Pre-assigned Username and Password. If you have not submitted a service agreement then select New Account Using Credit Card.

3 Page 3 When the Registration Wizard asks How do you connect to the Internet? If you are running OSX 10.7 or earlier: Select Satellite Phone and click Next this will then launch the Dialup Network Location Installer. If you are running OSX 10.8 or newer you will need to select the To be configured later option (skip ahead to the instructions section for Setting Up connection OSX 10.8 on page 4 to continue). Make sure your satellite phone is connected at this time. ***SPECIAL NOTE*** When installing the modem you will reach a screen that says "Finishing Installation" or Running packing scripts and the progress bar may seem to freeze... if you drag this window to the side you will see a window behind it that requires you to select a "provider" this should be Iridium Direct Connect and a "com port"- this should be KeySerial 1 or USA19xxx if you are using the Keyspan adapter or usbmodemxxxx if you are using an Iridium 9555 or a Globalstar GSP1700. Once you do this the installation will be completed. Once the application is running, you can access this phone installer by going to the Program menu and select Modem/Dialup Installer to configure your modem and dial up location.

4 Page 4 Setting up a satellite connection on OSX 10.8 Follow these steps to make a new location for using an Iridium satellite phone (9555/9575): Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu. Choose Network from the Internet & Wireless menu. Choose Edit Location from the Location menu. (You may need to click on the unlock icon on the lower left of the network window to make changes) Click on the "+" to create a new location. Type a name for your new location, such as IRIDIUM, then click Done. The name of your new location appears in the Location menu. Any changes you make to the Network pane now apply to this location. The previous location ("Automatic" by default) will remain as you left it. Notice the list of connections in the box on the left of this window. You can remove all connections other than the Iridium Handset by clicking on the item and then clicking on the "-" near the bottom left of the list. Once you have removed unwanted ports - click on the Iridium Handset port. In the Telephone Number field enter: In the Account Name and Password fields enter: IRIDIUM You will now need to click on the Apply button to save these settings and location. You can then change the location back to Automatic to reconnect to your regular internet connection at any time. In OCENS Mail you will need to set the connection to this new Iridium location. You can do this by going into the OCENS Mail Preferences under the OCENS Mail menu. Then select the Connection option, in the Default Connection set this to the new Iridium location that you set up. You will need to set the Type as well to Iridium.

5 Page 5 For WeatherNet to use this new connection, you will need to set WeatherNet s connection setting to Satellite Dialer. When you choose to download a file - WeatherNet will then tell the Satellite Dialer (built into OCENS Mail) to dial out so that it can set up a data connection. After the files have been downloaded the Satellite Dialer will automatically disconnect the call. Use to following settings for other satellite phones: Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro: Location Name: IsatPhone Pro Telephone Number:#28 Account Name/PW:inmarsat Globalstar GSP1700: Location name: Globalstar Telephone number: #777 Account Name/PW: _blank_ When using phones connected via a Keyspan USB adapter you will need to select the Keyserial port from the connections list when you are setting up the location.

6 Page 6 If you have chosen to Enter a Pre-Assigned Username and Password the you will now be presented with a Settings screen. With the Gateway tab selected, enter your: Real Name: This is the name that you want to appear on outgoing . Assigned Username: Your OCENS assigned login ID. Password: The password assigned to your account. Finally click on the Connection tab and set the Default Connection to Iridium Direct Connect and Type to Iridium. The default 'Network Connection' will work over standard Internet connections. You may want to put a check next to "Use another connection if already open" to allow OCENSMail to use an existing open internet connection if available instead of dialing the selected "Default Connection". Click OK when done. Using OCENS Mail Use the following instructions to send an with OCENSMail. Run OCENSMail Click on the icon on the tool bar to bring up the default e -mail client (iscribe). Compose an and hit "Send". Hitting "Send" in the client queues the message for deliver with OCENSMail at a later date. The oscillating flag on the OCENSMail icon indicates that there is mail pending to be sent. Bring up OCENSMail. This can be done in a number of ways. If OCENSMail happens to be hidden you can click and hold the mouse button over the mailbox icon in the launch pad and then select "Restore" from the popup menu.

7 Page 7 Hit "Start Transfer". OCENSMail will establish a connection to the server either using an Open internet connection of the Default Location specified in your preferences, send/ receive . Use the following to read with OCENSMail. Bring up OCENSMail and hit Start to download any on the server. Click on the icon on the tool bar to bring up the client. Click on the Inbox to view new messages. Note that you may need to hit "Get Mail" on the client toolbar to transfer mail from OCENSMail to the clients Inbox. Upgrading form a previous version to a newer version of OCENSMail OCENSMail stores all modifications to the program including settings, mail, address book, XWeb book marks and other data files in the "~/Library/Application Support/GMN XGate.d" folder. Make a backup of the spool folder before upgrading to save your current settings. To upgrade your OCENSMail from version 2.0X, exit the current instance of OCENSMail if you happen to be running one. Now open the new DMG file and copy OCENSMail to its destination location. Now restore the original spool folder by overwriting the content of the newspool folder with the old. The old spool folder lives in "/Applications/MaXGate/spool". The new spool folder is called "~/Library/Application Support/GMN XGate.d". Run OCENSMail and go to preferences to confirm that all the settings are correct. Then Hit OK.

8 Page 8 To upgrade from a previous version of 3.X just delete the old copy of OCENSMail and copy in the new from the DMG distribution. Not other changes or modifications are required. IMPORTANT NOTE: do not delete the new spool folder. Copy the old spool folder over the top of the new one replacing any files with similar names. Uninstalling OCENSMail To completely uninstall the program move the OCENS Mail application folder to the trash. Then remove "YOUR_HOME/ Library/Preferences/GMN XGate Preferences". Also remove "YOUR_HOME/Library/Application Support/GMN XGate.d". To uninstall an older version of OCENSMail move the entire OCENSMail folder into the trash. Also remove the preferences as described above. Configure Mac Mail client for use with OCENS Mail. Note that OCENS Mail comes bundled with the Mozilla Thunderbird client which works out of the 'Box'. The following steps are only necessary if you prefer to use the default Mac client instead of Thunderbird. 1. Run OCENSMail 2. Go to preferences and click on the settings tab and confirm that the pop and smtp port numbers are set to the following POP3 Port #: 1100 and SMTP Port #: Click OK and then Exit and re-run OCENS Mail only if the POP and SMTP port numbers were changed from their default values. 3. Run the Mac Mail Application and select File->Add Account 4. Set the Account type to POP

9 Page 9 5. Enter OCENSMail for the description 6. Enter your Full Name. 7. Enter your address (user@ocens.net). 8. Set the Incoming Mail Server to Enter your OCENS assigned username and password. (this must be the same as the username and password entered above when configuring OCENS Mail). 10. At this point you will get an error that states that the pop server is not responding. Don t worry and hit continue. 11. On the next screen leave the 'Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)' unchecked and set the Authentication to Password (the default) 12. Enter for the outgoing mail server. The 'Use Authentication' should be left unchecked. You will receive an SMTP server not responding error when you hit continue. This is expected. Hit continue. 13. On the next screen leave 'Outgoing Mail Security' unchecked. 14. Finish the wizard. 15. Next go to Mail->Preferences. If you have more than one account listed then move them around so that the OCENS account is at the top. You will want to 'disable' all accounts except your OCENS account. This will prevent your program from trying to check non OCENS (i.e. non compressed ) accounts when using the mail program. 16. Now click on the OCENS account and under the Account information tab click on the Server Settings... button. Set the server port to 2500 (the value entered in the previous section for SMTP port number. Hit OK. 17. Next click on the Advanced tab. Set the POP port number to 1100 (the value entered above for the POP port number). Also check 'Remove copy from server after retrieving a message:' 18. Finally click on Signatures and then on the OCENS account and enter a signatures that will let your users know that you are using a satellite phone to send you and that care should be taken with attachments and other content.

10 Page Back in OCENS execute "Tools->Launch Default Client" to bind the toolbar icon to Mac Mail. 20. Test your settings by composing and sending an e- mail. You should see the flag on the OCENSMail icon on the launch bar start to go up and down. This means that you have an message ready to be sent out. 21. Bring up OCENSMail and push the "Start" button to send your .
