3 Quick Guide to Marvin Marvin is bootloaded as an Arduino Leonardo. The white connectors are called Grove connectors, made by seeed studio. They have many different sensors, all with the same connector cable. On their Wiki page, for each sensor they provide example arduino code. Go DIY or... Download your preconfigured arduino code from the Marvin - Don t panic application, Upload your code to the Marvin Plug Marvin into any USB 5V power source and Marvin is measuring Marvin will automatically start sending data See your data arrive in the dashboard of the Marvin - Don t panic application Add triggers using Triggi and receive a notification on your phone!

4 1 - Register Go to and register your account

5 2 - Configure Marvin - download.ino-file From the Plug & Play screen, select your sensor and download the.ino file Your browser will block the popup, make sure you disable this by clicking this icon: Use the Arduino IDE to upload the sketch. Follow instructions on pop-up after downloading.

6 3 - Configure Marvin - add library (optional) Some sensors need a library added to the Arduino IDE. They will be automatically downloaded with your code, but you need to manually add them to the Arduino IDE. 1. Go to Sketch - Include Library - Add.ZIP library 2. Find your libraries and click Choose

7 4 - Go to your IoT Dashboard

9 But soon enough it will start showing data

10 5 - Now Setup Triggi (1/7) 1. Download the Triggi app on your phone & register

11 Now Setup Triggi (2/7) 2. Go to Triggi Connect in your web browser. Login and create a connector 3. Copy the URL

12 Now setup Triggi (3/7) 4. Go back to your IoT Dashboard 5. Click on Rules

13 Now setup Triggi (4/7) 6. Make a new threshold rule > name it > select sensor > set rule > add marvin

14 Now setup Triggi (5/7) 6. Paste your Triggi URL and click SAVE

15 Now setup Triggi (6/7) 1. On your phone, open the app > Triggs > create new Trigg 2. When > my channels > triggi connect > connector is activated > [Your Connector Name]

16 Now setup Triggi (7/7) 1. Then > All channels > notifications > type your message 2. Use this action > I m done, name it > Activate this trigg Now wait for your Marvin to exceed your specified threshold, send a LoRa message which creates a notification on your mobile phone! Feel free to play around with different Trigs

17 6 - Now you re up! Play around with the different sensors available Try adding conditions with your Trigs: If marvin sends, AND weather is above 60 degrees, AND its 9PM New to arduino? 18 MarvinBlink On Github, in the Software folder, open MarvinBlink and click Raw Plugin Marvin to an USB port Make sure that Tools > Board is set to Arduino Leonardo Make sure that Tools > Port is set to the COM # with (Arduino Leonardo) next to it Go to Sketch>Upload or press upload (or Ctrl + U) to upload the MarvinBlink code to Marvin. The Marvin should start blinking with one LED. Open the serial monitor by clicking the symbol (or press Ctrl + Shift + m) The serial monitor should print: Starting program and Hello World for each time the led blinks. This is the basic Hello world program, also known as the first step for developers: it works, you did well!

19 MarvinMultiSerial Now we will check if the LoRa module is connected to the Atmega32u4 microprocessor correctly by verifying the serial communication between the two modules which are connected over UART. Open MarvinMultSerial.ino in Arduino IDE from your repository Upload the file to your Marvin and open the serial monitor Verify that the serial monitor is set to Line ending - Both NL + CR and baud Here you can type various AT commands, which is bare serial communication between your Marvin s microprocessor and the RN2483 module. Try for example: sys get ver and the lora module should respond with its date and version number. If this happens, we know your module is working correctly. In case nothing happens, upload the code again, close and re-open your serial monitor and try again. On the drive a manual you can find a manual to see all available commands for the RN2483, see for yourself! Try some commands like mac get deveui, mac get dr, mac get status or mac pause and radio tx 1

20 Try playing around with your own logic For every sensor we have chosen a threshold value on basis of which Marvin will send a LoRa message. Typically you can find this statement at the bottom of the void loop() section in your arduino program. Look for the following statement: if(a > 3000){ payload = payload+ "A" + String(A)+ "B" + String(B)+ "C" + String(C)+ "D" + String(D)+ "E" + String(E) + "F" + String(F); send_lora_data(set_port, payload); //4 bytes. Go ahead and play around with the threshold value that works for your application
