2 1 Register and Configure Hi-Gate Let s explore how to register and configure Hi-Gate to hiotron IOT Device Management Platform (HIDMP). We must have to create an account to access HIDMP. If you don t have an account please click here to register for free account. First of all make sure Hi-Gate is in the configuration mode. Hi-Gate by factory default ships with configuration mode. This means whenever we power-up Hi-Gate for first time it will be in configuration mode. Now to get start, we have to login to HIDMP Console. Then browse Devices ADD GATEWAY To add new gateway to our dashboard we must provide information about Name, Gateway ID and Passcode. Now in this case: Name: Main Hub, Gateway ID: G-1, Passcode: your password. Now we re ready to hit ADD. Once gateway added successfully, we would have to configure gateway. The next step is to simply hit configure button. And we will get new popup box.

3 This configuration pop-up box will allow user to set the configuration for Main Hub. Since we want to make Main Hub as a Gateway, we must choose USE AS A: GATEWAY, CONNECTION MODE : Wifi, PROTOCOL: ZigBee. Once it is done hit SET button followed by OK. Now press the RESET switch once and REFRESH the page. And we will get Main Hub configured and connected to Wifi [Section 2.1 how to configure WiFi]. This is how we can register and configure gateway to user dashboard. In next section of the document, we will add sensor node to the Main Hub. Gateway can also be act as Node but this topic will be covered in Section 3.

4 1.1 Add Sensor Node Let s add Hi-Node as a sensor node to the Main Hub. Before we proceeds any further make sure node that we wish to add is already in Configuration Mode. In configuration mode Green LED on Node keeps blinking. When Green LED gets stable that confirm Node is in the RUN Mode. In devices section of dashboard, just hit plus button to add a node under selected gateway. This will popup new window to set node credentials. And we will have to insert Node Id, MAC Address and Passcode. In this case, NODE ID: Node-1, MAC ADDRESS: 00:13:A2:00:41:05:00:66, PASSCODE : Your Password and hit OK to proceed. The next step is to configure sensor node that we just added. This can be done by simply clicking on configure button on a dashboard. The new pop-up will appear where we will have to wait at least 40 seconds to successfully configure node. And then hit Configure button followed by OK. We are just a one step away from adding a node to gateway.

5 Once these steps performed press SETUP switch followed by RESET button (only once). We will find Green LED on node will goes OFF for forever which confirm successful node integration with gateway. The next step is just to create a project and explore all the features of HIDMP, Gateway and Node.

6 1.2 Create a Fresh New Project This section will show you how easy it is to create a project in few minutes and in couple of steps. Let s create a project which will demonstrate all features of HI-Gate, Hi-Node with HIDMP Services. We have to browse Project Manager and then hit Create Project. This will open a pop-up box where we have to give a name to the project. In this case, we will give it Demo Project. Since, we have already added devices to user dashboard. We can select G-1 as a GATEWAY from dropdown menu and select Build your Own IOT Project option. And simply hit a CREATE button to proceed. This way we will setup credentials for a project. The next step is click on gear icon to setup project properties. This will take you to new option called CONFIGURE. Here in this case we will have to select Node as Node-1 and hit NEXT.

7 The next page will be customization options where we can set Input and output Channels. Now in general we have plenty of selection but in this case Node-1 is a Four Channel Node. Which will allows us to setup a pair of input and output channel. Let s setup two ON/OFF buttons to control relay and two analog channels to read data from sensors. Enable all the buttons from input and output channels. As soon as we enable them they will be automatically added into mobile view in right side. Hit Next and we are ready. The next window is to simulate project that we have build. There are Toggle and View two options to explore each for a toggle and view sensor data respectively. Let s hit Finish and then Close to upload project to user dashboard. The next step could be just simulating a project and see real magic happening by putting all sensor and relays together.

9 1.3 Project Testing on Real Hardware Finally we came to the point where we will have to evaluate functionality of Demo Project. The one we have built in previous sections. Let s go back to our user dashboard and then open a project navigate, Simulate and Select Demo Project. This option will bring a project view pane. Where we will find Toggle and View section. The toggle section will list two ON/OFF buttons which will toggle both IO Pins (O1 and O2). The view section is to watch sensor data on Channel 1 (A1) and Channel 2 (D1). We can connect any two analog sensors and view sensor data. We can not only view data from sensor but also plot them into graph. HIDMP dashboard supports different type of graphs to monitor and plot data on real-time.

10 1.4 Troubleshoot Guide There are several ways one can troubleshoot the issues while integrating Gateway to HIDMP 1. Make sure provided Gateway ID and PASSCODE is valid/correct. 2. PROG1 Jumper settings (Two of them will be closed by default). 3. After adding Gateway to HIDMP, make sure RESET gateway and refresh page. 4. While adding Node, make sure It s in Configuration mode (green LED keep Blinking) 5. After Configuring Node from HIDMP, Press SETUP once and then RESET once (green LED OFF forever which means RUN Mode)

11 2 Connection Modes: WiFi, GPRS There are three different ways to provide connectivity to Gateways which include WiFi, Ethernet and GPRS. This section will explore a procedure to configure WiFi hotspot on Hi-Gate.

14 3 Hi-Gate as a Node In general there are two modes of operations supported by Hi-Gate. This includes Hi-Gate as a Gateway and Hi-Gate as a Node. This means, even with only gateway user can able to control devices using HIDMP or Mobile App. Since we already have seen configuration of Hi-Gate as a Gateway [Section: 1]. Let s configure Hi-Gate as a Node. The first step would be browse DEVICES section on dashboard. Then select a Gateway which we wish to configure as a node and hit CONFIGURE button. This action will pop-up new window. There we should select USE AS A Node. Then press SET button, followed by OK. Now with simple refresh, we will reflect the changes on dashboard. This is how we can configure Gateway as a Node.

15 4 Add Multiple Nodes There are several situations where you may wish to add one or more sensor node to same gateway. As we already have seen in section 1.1, how to add sensor node. We must follow same steps to add additional sensor node. In continuation to previous section let s add sensor node Node-2 to the existing gateway Main Hub. Let s hit Add node under G-1 button. This will take us to Add Node section where we will have to insert node credentials of Node-2. In this case NODE ID: Node-2, MAC ADDRESS: 00:13:A2:00:41:56:CE:31 and PASSCODE: Your password. Then simply hit OK. Once, the newly added node listed in DEVCES LISITING. The next step will be to configure Node-2 (Follow Section 1.1). Lets hit configure button on dashboard in front of Node-2. This will give us pop-up box which can allow us to configure Node-2 in few clicks.

16 5 Switch Sensor Node When it comes to adding Sensor Node to Gateway we can add multiple Nodes under single Gateway. HIDMP provide its user very intuitive device management console. Which provide Node customization in just few clicks. In this section, we will see how one can easily switch Sensor Node from one another. Let s first browse project section on a user dashboard Project Manager Click on gear icon next to selected project. We will find drop down menu in CONFIGURE section. There we have to select Node-2 and hit Next. And here we have switched Node-2 as a sensor node for our Demo Project.

17 6 Set Rules and Conditions Rules give your devices the ability to interact with HIDMP services. With just few clicks we can add rules to particular channel and perform conditional operation without even writing single line of code. In this section we will see how one can add rule to existing project. Let s browse Project Manager Settings Configure Customize Hit gear icon of VIEW option on Mobile View. The new pop-up window will allows us to Add Rule. Just simply hit ADD RULE. We can add rule to any channel. Here in this case we have chosen Channel 1. Likewise we can add for Channel 2 as well. Once rule been added we can expand setting under rules. This can be done primarily by expanding + icon next to rule that we have juts created. Here we must add MODELS and make a choice between Action, Push Notification, and Interval Action. For this demo we have selected ACTIONS. As shown in the picture next page:

18 Once it is done. We have to add more information on what exactly we want to do. Here in this case we have connected analog temperature sensor LM35 at Channel 1 and we wish to turn on LED connected to O1 when temperature goes beyond 30 o C. Now whenever temperature goes beyond 30 0 C, LED at O1 turns ON. This is how we can add conditional statements to Channels output.

19 7 Rename Options User can easily rename Gateway at any point in time. Let s rename the Gateway under user dashboard. The first step to do is to browse DEVICES and select registered gateway. Then click Edit option. As shown in picture below, This will pop-up new window on screen. Here user can rename a gateway G-1. In this case we will rename existing Main Hub to Demo Hub. And then simply hit rename button. This is all. We can see the changes will quickly reflect onto user dashboard. As shown in the picture below:
