3 INTRODUCTION / Strictly Confidential Introduction Overview The AutoCAD - DLM Integrator allows drawing data to be imported into DLM via managed methods. The automatic detection of document open, save and close events allows for auditing of document actions in addition to the ability of being able to update DLM with the documents current Title Block Data. The parsing of Title Block Data is configurable allowing the specific block reference name to be configured, something that may be required depending on your organization s drawing structure and existing business practice. 4 / Strictly Confidential Set Up Your processes and system In order for the DLM Integrators to work correctly, you will need to have a shared drive that is accessible to all relevant staff where your working drawings will be kept. In this drive there should be a root folder created for each project. Install on each computer You will need to install the AutoCAD integrator on each relevant computer. Do this by running the.msi file. This will be available on the server where Union Square is installed; your system administrator will be able to get you the latest copy from the folder: C:\UnionSquare\web\WorkspaceComponentInstalls\Client\AutoCADDLMIntegrator. You will also need to ensure all users have Working Files of at least version 1.49 installed on their machine. Again, the latest version will be available on the server where Union Square is installed; your system administrator will be able to get you the latest copy from the folder: C:\UnionSquare\web\WorkspaceComponentInstalls\Client\WorkingFiles.zip Configuration files The Integrator uses a configuration file called u2dlm.config in order for it to process data. The configuration file is automatically added to the project root folder, for each project when you follow the steps below. If this file is not created or accidentally deleted, this will prevent the Integrator from recording data Union Square Software Ltd Page 4 of 8

5 / Strictly Confidential You will create the u2dlm.config file via the Project in Union Square. The following steps demonstrate how this can be achieved FOR EACH PROJECT: 1. Click on the Edit Project Settings icon within the Administration Tools section of DLM: 2. Fill in the details for the fields provided: UNC Root path is the shared drive where all the work in progress AutoCAD files are stored as per the Set up. Title Block Reference is the name of the Title block set up in AutoCAD Note: The value for Title Block Reference is case sensitive. 3. Click Apply Union Square Software Ltd Page 5 of 8

6 / Strictly Confidential How it works Title block schema configuration In order for DLM to correctly import the Title Block data retrieved by the AutoCAD Plugin, your Union Square consultant will set up the configuration file to suit your title blocks. The file contains definitions that map fields in Drawing Title Blocks to the Union Square based values used within DLM. Therefore if any of the definitions / attributes get re-named or changed in the Title block, this will prevent the integrator from picking up the required information. Integrator initialisation The Integrator will only work if the user is opening the source drawing on a UNC share, (your shared drive); therefore other drawing sources are not supported. During the startup procedure AutoCAD attempts to load the Integrator based on the registry information configured as part of the Integrator installation. If the references are correct and the Integrator successfully loads then a message similar to the one below can be seen in the AutoCAD output window: Open/Close/Save event detection The Integrator hooks into the Open, Save and Close events for any given document and will attempt to log data with the Union Square product. When a user opens a drawing file, the Integrator will attempt to find the u2dlm.config data by first searching within the current directory before recursively searching parent folders. If the configuration file cannot be accessed, the following message is displayed in the AutoCAD output window: 2012 Union Square Software Ltd Page 6 of 8

7 / Strictly Confidential If the configuration data was loaded successfully but there was an error in publishing the data to DLM, a message detailing the circumstances is displayed in the AutoCAD output window: Successful data transfers will not cause a message to appear in the AutoCAD output window to avoid filling the UI with unwanted text Union Square Software Ltd Page 7 of 8
