5 Before You Begin 2D DESIGNER V2002 Installation Guide Before You Begin System Requirements 2D DESIGNER Version 2002 requires the following system configuration: Pentium (or higher) based PC CD-ROM drive Approximately MB of hard disk space per application for Standalone and Network Server installations. 32 MB of RAM Windows 98/ME/NT 4.0(SP3 or higher)/2000/xp AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, or 2002 CD Contents Purchased Software and Evaluation Modules The 2D DESIGNER installation CD contains a full version of the software you purchase. In addition, each CD contains evaluation versions of all other 2D DESIGNER products. You may install one or more of the evaluation modules as required. Documentation The installation CD contains PDF copies of all 2D DESIGNER manuals. All documentation files are located in the Manuals folder. Installation Overview There are two steps to installing 2D DESIGNER: Installing a licensing system Installing 2D DESIGNER applications If you use CrypKey Software Licensing, you must perform one additional step: entering site keys. 6 Before You Begin License Installation Options 2D DESIGNER does not function fully unless it is properly licensed. There are three options for installing licensing: Install 2D DESIGNER applications and CrypKey Software License Manager on the same computer Install 2D DESIGNER applications and CrypKey Software License Manager on separate but networked computers (including network installations) Install 2D DESIGNER applications with a Rainbow Hardware Key If you do not purchase Rainbow Hardware or CrypKey Software Licensing options, you can install and run any 2D DESIGNER application in evaluation mode. Choose an Installation Path 2D DESIGNER installation follows different paths, depending on your goals and licensing choice. For each installation path, different dialog boxes may appear. Use the chart below to determine which installation path to follow. 9 Installing 2D DESIGNER Installing 2D DESIGNER Always install CrypKey Software License Manager (or Rainbow Hardware key drivers) before you attempt to install application modules. Dialog 1: Autorun Insert the installation CD into your CD drive. The 2D DESIGNER V2002 Autorun dialog box appears. Note to Network Administrators: When installing on a network, ensure all 2D DESIGNER application users can access the licenses folder located at [drive + directory]\2d Designer V2002\CrypKey Server\Licenses. 17 Installing 2D DESIGNER Dialog 10: Review Settings Installation Path All installs Action Verify that the licensing, location, and feature options are correct Click Next Go to Copy Files Copy Files The installer begins to copy files from the CD to your system. Once the installer copies the files to your system, go to the next dialog box as indicated below: Installation Path Standalone User Network Administrator All other installs Action Go to Dialog 11: CrypKey Manager Go to Dialog 11: CrypKey Manager Go to Dialog 12: Finished Page 13

18 Installing 2D DESIGNER Dialog 11: CrypKey Manager Installation Path Standalone User; Network Administrator Action Follow the procedure below: Generate a Site Code Go to Dialog 12: Finished Generate a Site Code 1. In the Applications list, click the application you want to install. A system generated Site Code appears in the Site Code box. This code is a unique numerical identifier for your computer. 2. Copy the displayed Site Code into an message. If you do not have , manually record the Site Code number. 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for each application you want to install. 4. Enter the sites code(s) and the following information in an addressed to: support@procad-software.com Include the following information: Your Name Your Company (if applicable) Street Address City Province or Sate Postal or Zip code Country Phone Number Your address Name of application(s) you want to license Number of licenses required for each application If you do not have , provide the requested information by phone using the phone numbers listed in the next step. 19 Installing 2D DESIGNER 5. If you have not already done so, provide PRO-CAD with payment or credit card information. Do not send credit card information by . Contact PRO-CAD Software Ltd. at: or We will you a Site Key to unlock the requested application(s) after we verify payment. 6. Click OK to exit the CrypKey License Manager dialog box. Page 15

20 Installing 2D DESIGNER Dialog 12: Finished Installation Path All installation paths Action Click Finish If a dialog appears that lets you choose whether or not to restart your computer, select the Yes, I want to restart my computer now option. Note to Network Administrator: Ensure that 2D DESIGNER application users have read and write privileges for the license folder at [drive + directory]\2d Designer V2002\CrypKey Server\Licenses. 21 Entering Site Keys 2D DESIGNER V2002 Installation Guide Entering Site Keys You cannot enter Site Key(s) or initialise 2D DESIGNER applications until you do the following: Install the CrypKey License Manager and send Site Code(s) to PRO-CAD Install the 2D DESIGNER application(s) Receive Site Key(s) from PRO-CAD Entering Site Keys To enter site keys 1. Open CrypKey License Manager, located in [drive + directory]\procad\2d DESIGNER V2002. The CrypKey License Manager dialog box appears. 2. In the Applications list, click the application for which you received a Site Key. 3. In the Site Key field, do one of the following: Type the site key you received from PRO-CAD. Copy the site key from the PRO-CAD and paste it into the field using the Paste button to the right of the Site Key field. 4. Click the Save button to the right of the Site Key field. Your license, options, and duration update to reflect the new license arrangement. 5. Repeat Steps 2-4 for each application for which you have a site key. Page 17

22 2D DESIGNER Installation Guide Entering Site Keys 6. When you are finished, click OK to close the CrypKey License Manager dialog box. Initializing the Software To initialize the software This procedure is required the first time you open a 2D DESIGNER application. 1. Open the required 2D DESIGNER application. The Browse for Folder dialog box appears. 2. Select the network path to the license folder. 3. Click OK. If the licenses move, or if you need to change this network path, you can access this dialog box from within any 2D DESIGNER application. From the Configure System tab, click Select License folder. 25 Trouble Shooting 2D DESIGNER V2002 Installation Guide Trouble Shooting Environment Variables Warning Use this procedure if the Launch 2D DESIGNER V2002 warning appears. 1. Click OK. 2. From your desktop, right-click the My Computer icon. 3. Select Properties. The System Properties dialog box appears. 4. Click the Advanced tab. 5. In the Environment Variables pane, click Environment Variables 6. Under the System Variables pane, click New. The New System Variable dialog box appears. 7. In the Variable Name box, type 2DDSGNR In the Variable Value box, type x:\programs\procad\2d DESIGNER V Click OK. Note: Replace x with the correct drive name. 10. Repeat Steps 6-9 using the following: Variable Name: 2DDSGNR2002TEMP Variable Value: x:\programs\procad\2d DESIGNER\TEMP Page 21
