2 1. SOUNDFIT Overview The SOUNDFIT Customization tool enables you to modify the appearance, database products and images, and labels and messages that appear in SOUNDFIT. Use this application to personalize SOUNDFIT to meet your own or your customers product and language requirements and to create a distribution package to send out into the field. 1.1 Computer Requirements This application runs on a PC with Windows 98SE or a more recent Windows operating system. SOUNDFIT must already be installed on the PC. This application must be installed into the same directory as the SOUNDFIT application. 2. Application Window 2.1 Overview The application (see Figure 1) displays eight tabs: 1. Devices for SOUNDFIT: lists library and product information, model names and features (including output, gain, description, fitting range). 2. Model Images: shows photos of shell styles and lists each image s file name. 3. Translations: allows you to edit labels and messages. 4. Splash Screen: allows you to specify a jpg image of your company s logo or other preferred image to be shown when the application is launched. The default image is SOUNDFIT. 5. Logo: allows you to display your company's logo (static or animated) in the top right corner of the main SOUNDFIT screen header. The default image is SOUNDFIT. 6. ANSI Files: allows you to specify IDS files describing an ARK based device's ANSI test parameter settings to include in the installation. The ANSI configurations will be accessible on Step 3 of SOUNDFIT via the Tools Menu. It is not required to perform this step for Advanta based devices. 7. Set ICON: Allows you to specify the ICON to be shown in the Start Menu and on your desktop. 8. Distribution Package: creates a set of files that can be sent out into the field to install your modified version of SOUNDFIT April of 16

Note: If this check box is not selected, the standard English labels and messages displays in SOUNDFIT. If there are any blank fields in the Translations column, then the standard English labels and messages are displayed. The same word may be listed multiple times as it is used within SOUNDFIT in different contexts and therefore, in some languages, may require different translations. 8. Click the Use Unicode check box if the new labels and messages use extended (non-ansi) characters such as UNICODE or UTF-8 character sets. 9. Click Save. 2.5 Splash Screen Tab The splash screen displays upon launching SOUNDFIT. You may wish to display a custom splash screen whenever SOUNDFIT is launched. Click the LOGO tab April of 16
11 3. Select whether your logo file is static or animated. A static logo must be a 108 pixels wide by 59 pixels high JPG image An animated logo must be a BMP file with each 108x59 frame being arranged horizontally within a wide image. For example, a five frame animation will be 59 pixels high and 540 pixels wide (108 pixels x 5 frames). 4. Click browse (...) beside Current Logo to select the logo file. 5. Select the file that contains your logo image. The file can be stored anywhere on your hard drive. 6. A preview of your custom splash screen appears in the lower portion of the screen. 7. Click Use Default to revert to the standard SOUNDFIT Logo 8. Click Save. 9. Any changes that you have made will not be seen until the next time that you launch SOUNDFIT. 2.7 ANSI Files To create the specifications for a hearing aid, the ANSI file specifies all of the parameters used to place a hearing aid into special configuration. By temporarily placing a hearing aid into this configuration, an audiologist can quickly determine if the hardware is performing properly. A hearing aid using an ARK based hybrid requires that an IDS file has been specified which contains all of the ANSI parameters. These parameters are automatically loaded from the AdvantaIDS idsa file when an Advanta based hearing aid record is created on Tab 1 (Devices for SOUNDFIT tab). Figure 6: The ANSI Files tab April of 16
12 To specify a new ANSI configuration file for an ARK based hearing aid: 1. Download ARKbase from the following link and then install it: 2. Launch the Interactive Data Sheet (IDS) application. 3. Select the Library and Product used within the hearing aid for which you wish to create an ANSI Configuration File. 4. Manipulate the displayed parameters to correspond to the ANSI test configuration. Click Save Configuration found under the File menu item and name the IDS file appropriately. 5. By default, this file will be stored to C:\Program Files\Sound Design Technologies\ARK on your hard drive. 6. Any new configuration files that you have made will not be seen within the Customization Tool until the next time that you launch the Customization Tool. To include a product configuration file for use on Step 3 of SOUNDFIT to place a hearing aid into an ANSI test condition: 1. Click the ANSI Files tab. 3. Select the ANSI IDS files that you would like to include by clicking on the check box in the COPY column. The customization tool shows ANSI IDS files found in the C:\Program Files\Sound Design Technologies\ARK directory on your hard drive by default. Only IDS files that relate to Libraries and Products specified in your Devices for SOUNDFIT (Tab 1) will be shown. 4. Once you have selected the configuration files that you would like copied into SOUNDFIT, click COPY to copy your selection(s) into the ANSI files currently assigned area. 5. Click Save. 6. Any changes that you have made will not be seen until the next time that you launch SOUNDFIT April of 16

Click Set Icon to browse to the ICO file that you would like to use for desktop and Start Menu shortcuts: Any Windows ICO icon file can be specified. A preview of the icon will be shown on-screen. 4. Click Use Default to revert to the standard SOUNDFIT icon. 5. Click Save April of 16
14 2.9 Distribution Package Tab This tab allows you to create a set of files that can be used to distribute your newly modified version of SOUNDFIT to your customers. Figure 8: Distribution Package tab To create a Distribution: 1. Confirm that the folder where the SOUNDFIT application is currently located is correct. 2. Specify a Destination Folder for Distribution Files. This is a location on your hard drive where you would like the set of installation files to be copied. 3. Enter an Application Name. This is the name that your application will be called when it is installed on your customer's computer(s). 4. Specify a Default Installation Directory. This is the suggested installation location that the application will suggest during a customer install process. 5. Checking the Overwrite Translations option will force the installation to update any translations found on the destination PC during an installation. If this option is not selected, any translated labels and error messages found on the destination PC will be maintained but new labels and messages required by the latest version of SOUNDFIT will be added. 6. Enter a text string to be displayed at the top and bottom of the install screen during a customer install process. This is optional. 7. Click Create Distribution Package. All of the files required for a distribution package are copied to the location on your hard drive that you specified in the Destination Folder for Distribution Files text box (see step two above) April of 16
15 8. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the distribution folder you entered in step two above. Copy all of these files to a second computer or burn them to a CD to ensure that you do not over write your existing installation. 9. Test your installation package thoroughly by running Setup.exe to ensure that the application installs and works as expected. To get a complete understanding of your users experience, be sure to test your new installation on a PC other than the PC on which it was created. 10.Test the uninstall process via Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs April of 16
