3 Chapter 1 Software Overview XTOOL is the newly developed upgrade tool of RGBlink. It supports the mainstream products of RGBlink, and can realize the visual control and management on Windows or macos system. Every device has different ways for upgrade, but XTOOL eliminates the diversity and makes the upgrade easier. Features: 1) Unified interface and style; 2) Upgrade for different devices; 3) OSD, Mask, Logo and Still settings; 4) Language switcher; 5) Visual control; 6) Support Windows and macos; 7) Individual subprogram can be selected from the upgrade package; 1

4 Chapter 2 Installing Software Requirements Processor: 2.5GHz i5 or above processor (32 bit or 64 bit) Memory: 4GB or above Graphics: Support DirectX 9 128M or above (open AERO effect) Hard disk space: Above 128G (primary partitions, NTFS format) Monitor: Resolution must be pixels or above (if the resolution is lower than , some functions will not be displayed normally) Operating system: Windows 7 (non-ghost version or compact version) Software version: V Installation (1) Double click the icon, and a dialog box will pop up. Select the target language, for example, select English, and click OK to confirm. (2) Click Next to install: 2

5 Chapter 2 Installing Software (3) Select Browse... to select the destination folder: Note: When installing the software to disk C (Windows 7 or above), user should get the rights in Roles Management. (4) Click Install : In the process, a dialog box will pop up: 3

6 Chapter 2 Installing Software If the user installs the XTOOL software for the first time, click Next : Then click Install", as shown in the figure below: 4

7 Chapter 2 Installing Software (5) Click Finish, as shown in the figure below: Then click Next to complete the installation. If user has installed the XTOOL software before, click Cancel, and the dialog box will pop up: Click Yes to cancel installation. 5

8 Chapter 2 Installing Software Click Finish to exit installation. Then the dialog box will pop up, click Cancel to exit the installation. Click Finish and run the XTOOL application: 6

9 Double click the icon, and enter the interface as follows: XTOOL software contains the functions - Connection, Version, Toolbox, Language, Help and New File. In the following parts, we will introduce them in detail. 3.1 Connection Click Connection, and the dialog box will pop up: Serial Comm, Net Comm and USB Comm can be selected. Click Confirm. 7

10 3.2 Version The version interface is shown as follows: This is for software upgrade. XTOOL supports VENES X1, VENES X1 PRO, VENUS X2, VENUS X3, VENUS X3LIVE, VENUS X7, VSP 628PRO, CP 3072PRO, M-ONE, T-ONE, MSP 216, MSP 225, MSP 226, C1, C4 and C480. The operations are basically the same. The followings are the upgrade operations for VENUS X1PRO and VSP 628PRO. VENUS X1PRO Software Upgrade 1. Connect the device to PC Method 1: Connect the USB port of the PC to the USB port in the CONT area (Figure 3) of the VENUS X1PRO back panel with a USB cable (A to B) (Figure 1). Figure 1 USB Cable (A to B) Method 2: Connect the USB port of the PC to the RS232 port in the CONT area (Figure 3) of the VENUS X1PRO back panel with a USB to RS232-RJ11 cable (Figure 2). 8

Open XTOOL Open XTOOL software. Click Language to switch the language. 4. Communication settings Serial Comm and Net Comm can be used to connect X1 PRO to PC. 4.1 Serial Comm 9

12 Click Connection, select Serial Comm in the dialog box. Select the corresponding serial number, and set Baud Rate as , click Confirm. If the device is connected, the circle indicating connection status at the bottom left corner turns green. If the connection fails, the circle remains red. Device type and SN are shown at the bottom right corner. 4.2 Net Comm (1) Use a LAN cable to connect X1 PRO to PC. (2) Check the IP address of X1 PRO from the menu: System Ethernet IP Address. 10

13 (3) Set the IP of the Connection Settings dialog box as the same with that of X1 PRO. Click Confirm to connect. 5. Select the *bin file in the upgrade package Click "Choose File" to select the bin file in the "Firmware Package" folder of the upgrade package. 6. Select the upgrade program (1) Click All, XTOOL will compare the version number and the subroutine version number of the package automatically. Only the items with different version number will be chosen for upgrade. 11

14 (2) Click "Upgrade", and a dialog box reading "Do you want to upgrade the firmware?" will pop up. Click "Confirm" to upgrade. (3) Check the upgrade progress by scroll bar. User can press the "Stop" button to stop the upgrade. (4) After the upgrade is completed, the New Version Upgraded! dialog box will pop up. At the 12

15 same time, the device will display UPGRADE SUCCESS! PLEASE RESTART! (5) Click Confirm, and reboot the device. VSP 628PRO Software Upgrade 1. Connect the device to the computer Connect the USB port of the computer to the USB port in the CONT area on the rear panel (Figure 2) with a USB cable (A to B) (Figure 1). Figure 1 USB Cable (A to B) Figure 2 CONT Area 2. Boot the device Input or output is not needed during the upgrade. 3. Open XTOOL Double click the XTOOL icon, and get into the main interface. Click Language to switch the language between Chinese and English. 13

16 4. Set the Comm Click Connection and choose USB Comm in the dialog box of Connection Settings. Remarks: Only USB comm can be used for VSP 628PRO connection. If the device is connected, the circle indicating connection status at the bottom left corner turns green. If the connection fails, the circle remains red. Device type and SN are shown at the bottom right corner. 14

Select package For upgrading VSP 628PRO, the packages can be divided as below: (1) If the software version of the control panel is lower than V2.88, upgrade the MCU package (VSP628PRO_MCU_V2.XX.bin) first, and then upgrade the Package [VSP628PRO_Packge_V2.XX.bin (the version is V2.88 or above)]. (2) If the software version of the control panel is V2.88 or above, upgrade the Package [VSP628PRO_Packge_V2.XX.bin (the version higher than V2.88)] Push the MENU button, choose Tech Support with the rotary knob, and enter Version No. to check the version No. of VSP 628PRO. Note: XX refers to the version No. of software. 5.1 Upgrade the MCU package (1) Click Choose File, and choose VSP 628PRO_MCU_V2.XX.bin in the upgrade software document. (2) Click ALL, XTOOL will automatically compare the version number of the local program with that of the subprogram in the package. If the version numbers are the same, ignore the option. If 15

18 the version numbers are different, the it indicates that the subprogram needs upgrade. Refer to the picture below: (3) After the program upgrade is finished, the reminder reading New Version Upgraded! will pop up. Meanwhile, red marquee will appear on the front panel buttons of the device. Click Confirm, and reboot the device. The upgrade of MCU program is finished. 5.2 Upgrade the Package (1) Click Choose File, and choose VSP 628PRO_Package_V2.XX.bin in the upgrade software document. 16

19 (2) Click ALL, XTOOL will automatically compare the version number of the local program with that of the subprogram in the package. If the version numbers are the same, ignore the option. If the version numbers are different, it indicates that the subprogram needs upgrade, as shown in the picture below. Besides, subprogram can be checked by scrolling mouse. (3) Click Upgrade, choose Confirm to upgrade when the dialog box reading Do you want to upgrade the firmware? pops up. The single subprogram and the whole upgrade process can be checked with scroll bar. If the upgrade needs to be suspended, press stop button to suspend it. (4) After the upgrade is finished, a dialog box indicating New Version Upgraded! will pop up. Meanwhile, the LCD screen on the front panel will also indicate the successful upgrade. 17

20 (5) Reboot the device and reset the device to the factory default settings. Make sure the program load is finished. 3.3 Toolbox Click Toolbox : It includes Custom OSD, Custom Mask, Custom Logo and Custom Still. 18

21 Custom OSD Select Custom OSD in Toolbox : OSD ON/OFF: Enable or disable the OSD function. Set the position and size: Adjust the position and size of OSD by setting the value of X, Y, width and height. Set the font: Set the font, font type, font color, strikeout or underline. Font transparency: Enable or disable the font transparency function. Background transparency: Enable or disable the background transparency function. Background color: Set the background color. Text entry: Type the text content that user wants to display, and set the size and position. Import text: Import the subtitle text saved before. Save text: Save the subtitle text for future use. Scrolling Speed: Set the scrolling peed, the adjustment range is between 1~16. Scrolling direction: Select Scroll Left or Scroll Right. After setting, choose Save To Device or Save To Computer, and click Apply. Save to Computer: 1. The file should be named as in order. Disruption of order is not permitted. 2. The file should be saved in the folder called #####\OSD. create a folder if no such folder is found. 3. After completion, insert the U Disk into the USB port at the Comm area. Import the file with the guidance of menu. 19

22 4. The format of U Disk must be FAT32. ##### varies by different devices. For example, if the device is VENUS X3LIVE, it should be named as X3LIVE ; If the device is CP 3072PRO, it should be 3072PRO. Make sure that the device is connected before operating Save To Device, Clear OSD and Apply. Custom Mask Select Create a Mask in Toolbox : File: Click File (*BMP) to choose an image. Background Color: Click Background Color and select the color. Create a Mask: Click Create a Mask, and save the mask to the USB disk. Note: 1. The picture format must be 24-bit BMP, and the size should not be larger than the output resolution. 2. The picture background should be solid-colored. It s white by default. 3. There should be only one mask on each picture. It s advisable to put the mask at the top left corner for position adjustment. 4. The file should be named as in order. Disruption of order is not permitted. 5. The file should be saved in the folder called #####\EFFECT. Create a folder if no such folder is found. 6. After completion, insert the U Disk into the USB port at the Comm area. Import the file with 20

23 the guidance of menu. 7. The format of U Disk must be FAT32. ##### varies by different devices. For example, if the device is VENUS X3LIVE, it should be named as X3LIVE ; If the device is CP 3072PRO, it should be 3072PRO. Custom Logo Select Custom Logo in Toolbox, get to the menu as follows: File: Click File (*BMP) to choose an image. Background Color: Click Background Color and select the color. Create a Logo: Click Create a Logo, and save the logo to the USB disk. Note: 1. The picture format must be 24-bit BMP, and the size should not be larger than The picture background should be solid-colored. It s white by default. 3. The file should be named as 1-50 in order. Disruption of order is not permitted. 4. The file should be saved in the folder called #####\LOGO. Create a folder if no such folder is found. 5. After completion, insert the U Disk into the USB port at the Comm area. Import the file with the guidance of menu. 6. The format of U Disk must be FAT32. ##### varies by different devices. 24 Custom Still Select Custom Still in Toolbox : File: Click File (*BMP) to choose an image. Background Color: Click Background Color and select the color. Create a Still: Click Create a STILL, and save the STILL to the USB disk. Note: 1. The picture format must be 24-bit BMP, and the size should not be larger than The picture background should be solid-colored. It s white by default. 3. The file should be named as 1-50 in order. Disruption of order is not permitted. 7. The file should be saved in the folder called #####\STILL. Create a folder if no such folder is found. 8. After completion, insert the U Disk into the USB port at the Comm area. Import the file with the guidance of menu. 9. The format of U Disk must be FAT32. ##### varies by different devices. For example, if the device is VENUS X3LIVE, it should be named as X3LIVE ; If the device is CP 3072PRO, it should be 3072PRO. 3.4 Language Click Language to switch language between Chinese and English. 22

25 3.5 Help Click Help : Software profile, including software name, version, supported comm and upgrade file requirement. 3.6 New File When there is new version for the device or software, a reminder reading New version is available. Do you want to upgrade? will pop up. Click Confirm to upgrade. After upgrade, the dialog box indicating Loaded! will pop up. Click Confirm. Then, the bin New File icon flashes. Click the icon, and the dialog box will pop up: It indicates that the bin file has been saved to the path automatically. Close the box, and the icon will not flash. 23
