About this manual In Adobe Reader, you can navigate around this document using the bookmarks provided (and the Back button, if desired). The Contents table is also hyperlinked to the corresponding sections, but is intended primarily for readers who like a printed copy. Various cross-references appear throughout the text. Blue text links to other sections of this document, while blue underlined text hyperlinks to external web sites (you may need to give Adobe Reader permission to access external sites). Most sections of this manual are common to both Mac and Windows versions of JetPhoto Studio. Their headings are shown in brown text. But a few sections are different for the two versions. The Mac-specific section headings are shown in red text, while the Windowsspecific section headings are shown in green text. Terminology In some sections, we ll talk about thumbnails being highlighted or spotlighted. These modes serve different purposes, and mean different things! Here s what each looks like: The first thumbnail is spotlighted (appears normal ) but is not highlighted, the second thumbnail is highlighted (has a blue border) and is also spotlighted, the third thumbnail is highlighted but is not spotlighted (it s greyed-out instead), and the fourth thumbnail is neither highlighted nor spotlighted (just greyed-out). So spotlighted means a thumbnail that appears normal rather than greyed-out, whereas highlighted means a thumbnail with a blue border around it. And for those people confused by even common Latin abbreviations: e.g. (exempli gratia) means for example ; i.e. (id est) means that is. Page 2 of 74

What is JetPhoto? Overview JetPhoto Studio is a feature-rich and easy-to-use digital photo program that enables photographers to organise, edit and share photos flexibly. With JetPhoto Studio, you can create professional Flash or web galleries, geo-tag photos with GPS data, and send photos to mobile phones as well as publish photo albums to the Internet. JetPhoto Studio exists in both Windows and Mac native versions, each with mostly the same features (there are some minor differences; see Appendix 1 Differences between Mac and Windows versions). System requirements JetPhoto Studio for Windows Operating System: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 CPU: PIII800 or higher RAM: 256MB or more HDD: 1GB or more free space Video: preferably supporting True Color display (16.7 million colours) JetPhoto Studio for Mac OS X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 (Snow Leopard) CPU: PowerPC G4/G5 or Intel RAM: 512MB or higher HDD: 1GB or more free space Video: preferably supporting True Color display (16.7 million colours) Installation Unzip the installer package (if applicable), saving it in an appropriate folder (where you can find it again!). In Windows Explorer (or similar), double-click the JetPhoto_Studio exe file to start the installer. Follow the on-screen instructions to install JetPhoto Studio in the default folder. If you re updating JetPhoto Studio to a later version, you needn t uninstall your earlier version. Just run the later version installer, and the program will update your JetPhoto Studio version automatically. If you had already registered the Pro version, you needn t register again, as the updated program will be kept as the Pro version. When you first run JetPhoto Studio, your firewall software may warn you that it is trying to access the Internet. If you re planning to use JetPhoto s geographical features (maps/satellite images with photo locations marked), you should allow Internet access so JetPhoto can download the necessary maps/ satellite images and other related information. 8 Album storage JetPhoto Studio stores photos in album packages. Each album package is one folder with a specified structure that contains copies of the original digital photo files and metadata saved in an XML file. Importantly, each album folder must have a.album extension (file-type). For Mac OS X users, the album package is displayed as a document icon, which JetPhoto Studio opens by double-clicking in the Finder file-browsing window. For Windows users, the album package is a folder that has a special icon and a.album extension. You can browse album folders with Windows Explorer or Album Manager. JetPhoto Studio opens the album by right-clicking and choosing from the context menu: Open with JetPhoto when selecting an album in a Windows Explorer file-browsing window. In the same way, now you can even open any general folder contains photo files as an album by choosing the context menu item Open as a JetPhoto album when you select a general folder in an Explorer window. Album Manager is a built-in module of JetPhoto Studio for Windows, which can help you to browse, manage and open photo albums saved on discs. Choose menu item File Open Album to launch Album Manager in JetPhoto Studio. Create new album There are two ways to create a new album: On a Mac: 1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item File New Album, name the new album and set its location in the file system. 2) Activate Finder, create a new folder with the postfix.album in any Finder window. In Windows: 1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item File New Album, name the new album and set its location in the file system. 2) Activate Album Manager in JetPhoto Studio, choose the location where the new album is to be saved, and name the new album. Convert folder to album There are two ways to convert a folder to an album: On a Mac: 1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item File Convert Folder to Album, and select a folder containing photo files in the file system. 2) Activate Finder, select the folder that you want to convert in any Finder window, add a postfix.album for this folder. In Windows: 1) Activate JetPhoto Studio, choose menu item File Convert Folder to Album, and select a folder containing photo files in the file system. 2) Open Album Manager in JetPhoto Studio, select the folder that you want to convert in Album Browser. Click the right mouse button, and choose the context menu item Convert Folder to Album. Page 8 of 74

Album window layout On opening an album, JetPhoto Studio has a simple window to view the album, and browse digital photos as thumbnails. The Extra Panel is a side panel attached to the main album window. For the Mac OS X version, the side panel looks like a drawer, so we sometimes call the panel the Extra Drawer in this document. Album windows on Mac and Windows (with Extra Drawer/Panel) The album window usually contains a couple of tabbed view pages to present photos and edit album contents. For example, the photo thumbnails of this album can be browsed in the Thumbnail view page, the full-view photo can be shown in the Detail view page, and album information can be edited in Album page. You can click on tabs to switch pages shown in the album window. Album page Show and set the title, short name and description for the current album. Thumbnail page Browse all photo thumbnails contained in the current album. Detail page Display the current photo in full-view. Page 9 of 74

Press and hold the left mouse button to apply a magnifier to see the picture s fine detail in that area (with one screen pixel per photo pixel, commonly referred-to as 1:1 ). Map page Display a map on which locate, track and browse photos (requires an open Internet connection). Actions page (Mac only) Collect all importing, creating, sharing and publishing action buttons. Extra Panel There are a couple of tabbed panels in the side panel, such as Information panel, Notes panel and Calendar panel. Click the small button with the >> icon in the top bar of the album main window to show or hide the Extra Panel: Information panel Show and edit photo properties, such as File Name, Camera Model, Aperture, Capture Date and Location. Notes panel Show and edit descriptions, keywords (tags) and stars for photos. Calendar panel Show a calendar interface that helps you to review photos by date/time. Geotag panel Locate photos with a map or GPS, and show the location of photos on a map. Edit panel (Mac only) Collects image cropping, adjusting, enhancing and effects action buttons. Action buttons There is a difference between the layouts of JetPhoto Studio Windows version and JetPhoto Studio Mac version. The Windows version collects all action buttons in toolbars of the Thumbnail and Detail view pages. But there are no corresponding toolbars in the album window of the Mac version. Instead, the Mac version collects all importing, creating, sharing and publishing action buttons in an Actions page of the album window, and collects editing action buttons in an Edit panel of the Extra Drawer. 13 Importing and exporting Now you know how to create an album, which is a container to save photos and their metadata for organising them. You can import external photo files into an album, or import photos from digital cameras, scanners or an iphoto library. Wherever the photo is from, all imported photo files are copied into an album folder. At this stage, JetPhoto Studio doesn t allow you to move external photo files into an album, or make shortcuts in an album for external photo files. This is because the software designer believes only copying is the absolute safest way to protect your digital assets (leaving your originals untouched, no matter what you do in JetPhoto). When importing photo files, the metadata of the photos are also read from the EXIF and IPTC data in original JPEG files. Importing photos from cameras JetPhoto Studio enables you to import photos from digital cameras and flash card readers. JPEG is adopted as the standard to store photos by most digital cameras. JetPhoto Studio can import JPEG files directly from cameras, and always makes JPEG copies automatically while importing camera RAW files, and TIFF, PSD and PNG image files. Import photos from camera Create a new album, or open an existing album. Choose the menu item File Import Photos From Camera, or click the Import from Camera button. Select a connected camera or flash card reader, and then click the Continue button to download photo files into the current album. Import camera RAW files JetPhoto Studio allows storing of camera raw files in albums. The raw files can be Nikon NEF, Canon CR2, and some others. You can choose to copy or move external raw files into JetPhoto albums, and JetPhoto will always automatically create a JPEG copy for each imported raw file: Page 13 of 74

When browsing photos in JetPhoto albums, right-click (or control-click) a thumbnail, and you can find items in the context menu to reveal either the JPEG file or the RAW file for each photo: Importing photos from iphoto (Mac only) JetPhoto Studio Mac version enables you to import photos with comments and keywords from an iphoto library. Import photos from iphoto Create a new album, or open an existing album. Choose the menu item File Import Photos From iphoto Library, or click the Import from iphoto button in the Actions panel. JetPhoto will connect to iphoto through an internal AppleScript. All iphoto albums will appear in a list. Select an album to import, and then click the Continue button to import photo files with comments and keywords into the current album. Working with Finder or Explorer Finder is the shell program of Mac OS, and Explorer is the file manager in Windows. You can use Finder or Explorer to manage files or other desktop resources on your Mac or PC. In either case, JetPhoto Studio allows you to import photo files from Finder/Explorer, or export photo files to Finder/Explorer by drag-and-drop, or copy-and-paste. Import photos Select the photo files or the folder that contains photo files in the Finder/Explorer window, and drag-and-drop them into the Thumbnail view of JetPhoto Studio s album window. Export photos Choose Thumbnail view in the album window, select the photos that you want exported, then drag-and-drop them into the destination Finder/Explorer Window. Replace photos Select a photo in Detail view, drag a new photo file from Finder/Explorer and drop it into this Detail view to replace the old photo. Page 14 of 74

Using copy-and-paste, photos can be transferred between JetPhoto album and Finder/ Explorer, or be exchanged between two different JetPhoto albums. Working with other applications JetPhoto Studio enables you to open photo files with other applications, by drag-and-drop. For example, to open a photo file in Photoshop, select one or several photos in the Thumbnail view, drag and drop them onto the Photoshop application icon (or task button 1 ). In order to open the selected photos in other application, you can also right-click (or Ctrlclick 2 ) on the photo in Thumbnail view. Choose item Open with in the context menu, and select an external application to open this photo. 1 In Windows, you cannot drop an item onto a button on the taskbar. But, if you drag there and hover over the task button without releasing the mouse button, the application window will open and you can then drag the item into the application window and drop it there. 2 Ctrl-click is only available on Mac Page 15 of 74

Organising JetPhoto Studio enables you to organise photos by notes, keyword tags, camera tags, time, and geographical location. Photo Information You can retrieve and edit some photo properties in JetPhoto Studio. Select the Information panel ( i ) in the Extra Drawer to show an information list that contains some items, such as Image Size, Camera Model, Shutter Speed, Capture Date, etc. Some items can be edited in this list; double click the value field to edit its content. Property Editable Description File Name YES File name of the original image file Size (Bytes) NO File size in bytes Width NO Image width in pixels Height NO Image height in pixels Created Date NO Date and time this image file created Modified Date NO Date and time this image file last modified Archived Date NO Date and time this image file imported into album Camera Maker YES Camera maker name, e.g. Nikon Camera Model YES Camera model, e.g. D200 Aperture YES F-number Focal Length YES Focal length (mm) Focus Distance YES Focus distance (metres) Shutter Speed YES Shutter speed (second) ISO Speed YES Sensitivity, e.g. ISO 100, ISO 400, ISO 800 Flash YES Flash status, On or Off Capture Date YES Date and time this shot taken (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss) Longitude YES Longitude ( 180 to 180 ) Latitude YES Latitude ( 90 to 90 ) Elevation YES Altitude in metres (zero altitude is sea level) Heading YES Camera Heading (0 to 360 ) Page 16 of 74

File Name If you want to change the file name for the current photo, just double click the item File Name in the photo information list, and then you can type a new file name in an editable text field. EXIF Tags When you take a shot, digital cameras usually write additional camera parameters as EXIF data saved with the picture data together in a JPEG image file. The Photo Info properties are primarily retrieved from the EXIF data tags contained in a JPEG file, such as Camera Model, Shutter Speed, Flash status, etc. The photo info properties are editable, but the modified properties aren t written into the EXIF data of the album JPEG files automatically. Instead, JetPhoto Studio saves them in a separate XML file to keep all metadata for all photos in the album. JetPhoto Studio by default avoids changing the contents of album photo files (though this can be overridden). Location Tags One of the key features of JetPhoto Studio is to organise photos by location. So any photos in a JetPhoto album may have a set of properties defining the place where the photo was taken. These geographical properties are Longitude, Latitude and Elevation. For more details, please also refer to the section GPS and geotagging in this document. After editing Longitude, Latitude or Elevation property, you can optionally choose the menu item EXIF Tools Merge GPS Metadata into JPEG to write location information into the album s JPEG files [Pro version only!]. Notes and keywords You can create notes and keywords for each photo in a JetPhoto album. Select the Notes panel in the Extra Drawer, where there s a text box for editing notes, and a keyword list. Notes (Descriptions) Select one photo in thumbnail view, or switch the current photo in detail view. Type a note to describe the selected photo in the Notes panel. [The Cover Photo check-box relates to publishing a web album (page 61). If ticked, the selected photo will be used as a cover photo for the album.] Set photo notes in batches You can set notes for several photos in batches. Multi-select several photos in the thumbnail view. Type a note to describe these selected photos, click the button with gearwheel icon in the Notes panel, and select Set Notes for Multi-selected Photos in the pop-up menu. Copy filenames to photo notes Before importing into JetPhoto Studio, photo files are often named with the photo titles. If you imported your titled files into JetPhoto albums, you may want a convenient tool to quickly transfer the photo titles from the file names to the photo notes. Well, you can do just that with an easy mouse-click: select the menu item Edit Copy Filenames to Photo Notes. In the example below, the photo file name is Birthday Cake.JPG. After performing the copy-to-notes action just described, the corresponding photo note becomes Birthday Cake. Page 17 of 74

Keywords (Tags) In the Mac OS X version, double click the keyword list in the Notes panel to add or edit the assignable keywords for the current album. You can also copy keywords between two lists in different albums by drag-and-dropping the selected keyword item. Or, you can first prepare a keywords list in a text file, then click the Import button to load the keywords from the file into your album at any time. Select one or several photos in Thumbnail view, or switch the current photo in Detail view. Click the checkbox of the desired item in the keyword list to assign this keyword for the selected photo(s). In the Windows version, there are three buttons below the keywords list; click them to add, remove or modify keywords: Add, Remove and Modify buttons Select one or several photos in Thumbnail view, or switch the current photo in Detail view. To select keywords from the list, click the Assign checkbox button to assign the selected keywords for the selected photos. To cancel the assigned keywords, click the Unassign checkbox button. Assign and Unassign buttons You can also exchange keywords between different lists by copy-and-pasting. Select some items in a keywords list, right-click and choose Copy from the context menu to copy the selected keywords onto the clipboard. Select the keywords list in another album window, right-click and choose Paste from the context menu to transfer the copied keywords to the new list. Or, you can first prepare a keywords list in a text editor, then copy the keywords from the text file and paste them to your album at any time. Favorite Keywords Presets (Mac only) JetPhoto Studio Mac version provides functionality to manage your keywords with Favorite Keywords Presets, a mechanism to flexibly organise global keywords: Page 18 of 74

The Favorite Keywords Presets combo box appears below the keywords list in the Notes panel. To save the current keywords list to a Favorite Keywords Preset, please enter a name in the combo box first, then click the Save button. To load a Favorite Keywords Preset to the current keywords list, please select a preset listed in the combo box, and click the Load button. To update a keywords list, JetPhoto provides two user-selectable modes: Replace or Merge. Favorite Keywords (Windows) At present, the Favorite Keywords Presets feature is only available in the Mac version. However if you d like to save your favourite keywords in files with the Windows version, you just need to select keyword items in a list, copy them to the clipboard, then paste them to a text file. In this way, it s very easy to edit and manage your keyword groups with any text editor software. Also easy is the inverse operation, copying a favourite keywords list from a text file and pasting it to an album window. Stars For your favourite or specific photos in an album, you can mark them with a star. Select one or several photos in Thumbnail view, or switch the current photo in Detail view. Click the Star button in the Notes panel to add or remove a star for each of the selected photos. Photo marked with a star One application of this facility is to select the photos marked with a Star before running some processing (for example, to make a Flash gallery with all star-marked photos in this album). All you need to do before the processing is select the menu item Edit Select star-marked photos. Page 19 of 74

Search photos Type text in the search bar in the Notes panel and press the <Enter> key (or magnifier icon) to search for photos with the specific note or keyword. This search is case-insensitive, so a search for, say, paris will find any photos with a keyword or note containing Paris too. Click the button with the gearwheel icon in the Notes panel, select Find All Noted Photos in the pop-up menu to find all photos with a non-blank note. Click the button with the gearwheel icon in the Notes panel, select Find Photos with Selected Keyword in the pop-up menu to find photos with the selected keyword. All found items are spotlighted in the thumbnail view. Choose menu item Edit Select Spotlighted Photos or press Ctrl-A to select all matched photos. Note: make sure you have not already highlighted other thumbnails, as Select Spotlighted Photos /Ctrl-A will add the spotlighted thumbnails to the group of already-highlighted ones. IPTC After editing notes or keywords, you can also choose the menu item EXIF Tools Merge Notes/Keywords into JPEG to write notes and keywords into the IPTC data of the album JPEG files. (Note that this function may not work properly with Eastern Asian character sets.) Filenames In the Info Extra Panel, you can see the filename of the currently selected photo as stored in the album. If you d like to change the filename of the photo file, just double-click the File field in the file information list, and then you can edit the filename. You should keep the same file extension (e.g..jpg ) while renaming files. RAW files can be archived in JetPhoto albums, but the filename shown in the File field is for the JPEG copy of the RAW file. The information for the RAW file is listed in the section Camera Raw of the list. RAW filenames are not editable in JetPhoto Studio. Rename files in batches with multiple modes By choosing the menu item Edit Batch Rename Files, you can change filenames in batches for the selected photos. This tool performs flexible renaming of photo files as a series of uniform names with the same prefix (or/and the same suffix), adding an index number or a date/time string into each filename automatically. The program can read the EXIF photo capture time tags and write them into the filenames. In this way, you can easily sort your photo files by events or categories in any situation, even (once renamed) outside of JetPhoto Studio. For numbering files consecutively (with or without prefix and/or suffix), you have the choice of just the minimum number of digits for each number (1, 2, 10, 11, etc) or all four-digit numbers. The latter is preferable if you have more than nine photos with the same name prefix to be renumbered, so they display in alphanumeric order in directory lists. In what order will the renamed photo files be numbered? In the order they appear in the Thumbnail view. So before renaming using sequential numbers, be sure to check the Edit menu, select Arrange Photos and ensure the thumbnails are sorted in the order that you want them numbered. Page 20 of 74

Example 1: rename files by appending index numbers Example 2: rename files by appending photo capture time Example 3: rename files with a prefix-time-suffix combination As shown above in Example 3, you can very simply rename photo files with a system such as Event + Time + Location, or many other variants. Page 21 of 74

Calendar For most people, the easiest and most efficient method to organise photos is based on the date and time when the photos were taken. Using JetPhoto, you can log your travel by taking photos, using a digital camera to create your multimedia diary. JetPhoto Studio offers a calendar interface to help you review photos. There is nothing for you to do!! JetPhoto obtains the accurate photo capture time automatically, as long as photos are imported from a digital camera whose clock has been correctly set. The dates or times when you took photos will be highlighted in Month View or Week View. In this way, you can quickly identify desired photos based on the timeline. Month view Click the Month View button in the Calendar panel to show a month calendar view in the Extra Drawer. There will be twelve months displayed in one calendar view. The dates when you took photos will be highlighted with white flags. The date of the currently selected photos will be highlighted with red flags. Click a date cell to find the photos taken during this day. Week view Week view and Month view Click the Week View button in the Calendar panel to show a week calendar view in the Extra Drawer. Every hour in the 7 days will be displayed as one cell in the calendar view. The hours when you took photos will be highlighted with white marks. The hour of the currently selected photos will be highlighted with red marks. Click an hour cell to find the photos taken during that hour. Time difference retrieve When you travel and take photos in different time zones, you should adjust the internal clock of your digital camera to match the local time. But if you forgot to do this, you can still retrieve the local photo capture time with JetPhoto Studio. Select the photos in Thumbnail view, click the button with the gearwheel icon in the Calendar panel, and select Adjust Time Zone for Selected Photos in the pop-up menu to show a dialog box. There you select the number of hours time difference by which to change the photo capture times. If you don t know how to calculate the time difference, please click the Calculate time difference between time zones >> link to display an interface in which you can choose the home and destination time zones of your trip. Page 22 of 74

Capture Time Corrector Digital photos are usually saved with a time stamp recording the capture time, so you should ensure the internal clock setting of your digital camera is correct. If your camera clock setting was incorrect when you took some photos, you can update their capture time in batches for album photos. Select the photos in Thumbnail view, click the button with the gearwheel icon in the Calendar panel, select Correct Capture Time for Selected Photos in the pop-up menu to display a dialog box, in which you can set the time offset (in days, hours, minutes, seconds) by which to correct the capture times. Arrange photos by time Click the button with the gearwheel icon in the Calendar panel, select Arrange All Photos by Time in the pop-up menu to rearrange all photos in the order they were taken. And you can find more options to sort your photos in the album page menu Edit Arrange Photos. Map JetPhoto Studio enables you to locate and track photos on a digital geographical map, using GPS technology. In JetPhoto Studio, you can browse photos with a map view, on which markers show the places where the photos were taken: Map view Page 23 of 74

You can also review photos with an associated detailed map showing the photo location, in the Geotag Extra Panel: Geotag Extra Panel For more details about organising photos with a map, please see the section GPS and geotagging (overview) in this document. Due to their different system designs, there are many differences in the GPS and geotagging functionality between the Mac version and the Windows version. So there are two separate sections to introduce the detailed GPS and Geotagging features for Mac users and Windows users: Quick start with GPS (Mac only) and Quick start with GPS (Windows only). Album Manager (Windows) JetPhoto Studio Windows version provides an efficient tool to help you organise all albums located on your discs. After JetPhoto Studio is launched, you will see the Album Manager window. It helps you to manage electronic photo albums conveniently. There are three icons in the upper-left corner, which are shown as My Photo Albums, My Computer and My Desktop. Click one of these icons to find albums you want in any location. For more convenience, we suggest that you re best off organising your albums in My Photo Albums. Incidentally, you can always return to the Album Manager later, by clicking the Album Browser button near the middle of the top bar of the album main window: and then selecting Open Album. If you see a number after a folder name listed in the tree view, such as Selected (3), it means that the folder named Selected contains three albums. You only need to left-click the folder and the three albums will appear in the album browser view: Page 24 of 74

While browsing albums, for your convenience there are two options to sort albums listed: by album name or by created date. Change photo albums library path The default My Photo Albums directory is located at folder My Photo Albums of My Documents. If you want to modify the default library path, you can select the menu item Edit Options, and set your new directory below My Photo Albums Library Path in the Options window. New category If you want to add a new category in the tree view, you can click the button New Category, and name the new category. A category is just a folder in the file system. New album Firstly, select a category listed in the tree view. Then click the button New Album below the album browser view, or select the menu item File New Album. Name the album. An empty album will be created and automatically opened. Open album Click an album title-bar in the album browser view; it will expand to show some relevant information for this album. Click the OPEN button enclosed in the title-bar to open this album. Page 25 of 74

Move album If you want to move an album from one category to another, you only need to select an album in the album browser view and drag it into a category in the tree view. Global Search JetPhoto Studio Windows version also provides a module to search photos in all albums saved in any place on your disc. Choose menu item File Global Search to launch the Global Search window (or click the Global Search tab from the Album Browser window) Set the text filter for searching in the tab panel Search Set the time and location filters for searching, if necessary Select the places on the disc where the albums are saved Click the Search button, and the results will be listed in the tab panel Result Double-click an item in the result list to open it in the album window. The matched photos will be spotlighted in the thumbnail view Page 26 of 74

GPS and geotagging GPS and Geotagging Overview JetPhoto Studio enables you to review and browse photos with an associated map on which to show the locations where the photos were taken. Besides directly positioning the photo on the map to set the location manually, you can also use a very easy way to locate thousands of photos automatically, with GPS tracking. JetPhoto adopts a patented method to match digital photos with time-synchronised GPS track logs. The particular location of a longitude-latitude coordinate will automatically be set for each photo, and links for all located photos can be created for Google Earth and Google Map Gallery as well as websites with geotagging support, such as Flickr. In JetPhoto, the photo location is expressed as a WGS84 (World Geodetic System 1984) coordinate value; the WGS84 coordinate system is also adopted by GPS (Global Positioning System) devices. The latitude needs to be a number between -90 and 90 degrees (a negative number is for South, and a positive number is for North). The longitude needs to be a number between -180 and 180 degrees (a negative number is for West, and a positive number is for East). The elevation is an altitude in metres (a negative number is for below sea level, and a positive number is for above sea level). JetPhoto Studio users can directly see and edit the latitude, longitude and elevation values for a photo, in its information list. To obtain the benefit of automatic photo locating, you need a GPS receiver, and turn it on during your photographic trip. JetPhoto supports Garmin, Magellan and Sony GPS handhelds, watches and loggers, and also imports track logs from GPX, NMEA and OziExplorer files. 28 Quick start with GPS (Mac only) This assumes you had a GPS logger that recorded the tracks while you were taking photos. Now you ve returned home, and imported all those photos into an album in JetPhoto Studio. Connect the GPS device to your Mac (a USB serial adapter may be required for connecting some models). After that, we can finish photo-locating with just three steps. STEP 1: Select the Map tab in the album main window or the Geotag tab in the Extra Drawer, and click the Locate Photos with GPS button. The GPS Logs window then displays, in which you click the GPS Importing button and select Download from GPS receiver from the pull-down menu, to retrieve your GPS tracks. (Or, use vendor s software bundled with your GPS device to download track logs into files in GPX, NMEA or OziExplorer format. After that, import these track log files into JetPhoto Studio.) STEP 2: Click the Automatic Locating button, and select Match all photos with GPS tracks from the pull-down menu. After JetPhoto s processing to match the photos with timesynchronised GPS tracks, voila! all located photos are indicated on a map. Wow!!! STEP 3: In the Map view page, you can now browse photos by location. And in the Geotag Extra Panel, a Wikipedia box will give you some information about the places near your photos. That s done automatically with reverse geocoding. Page 28 of 74

Click this button to launch Google Earth with links for all located photos, or generate KMZ or KML files that can be opened with Google Earth Click this button to make a dynamic web gallery to link located photos on Google Maps Locating photos with tracks A track is a kind of GPS log; it is a series of sequential time-location pairs. Import tracks Select the Map tab in the album main window or the Geotag tab in the Extra Drawer. Click the Locate photos with GPS button to display a GPS Logs window. Click the GPS Importing button, and select Download from GPS receiver from the pull-down menu to show a dialogue box. Choose your GPS receiver type, connection port and select the Download Tracks option. Click the Import button to download all track logs from the connected GPS receiver. Besides directly downloading tracks from GPS devices, you can alternatively click the GPS Importing button to get more importing options. JetPhoto Studio can import GPS tracks from GPX, NMEA, OziExplorer, Sony GPS-CS1 log and Magellan SD files. List tracks All downloaded track logs are listed in the GPS Logs window. To correctly display time values in a track list, select the time zone where the track was logged. Click the button with the pencil icon to change the name of the currently selected track log. Click the button with the (-) icon to delete the currently selected track log. Page 29 of 74

The time zone of the tracks is a very important setting here it must be the same as that of your digital camera s capture time. Automatic locating matches photo capture times with time-synchronised GPS tracks, so you must keep the camera time and GPS time in the same time zone! Match photos with tracks Click the Automatic Locating button in the GPS Logs window, and select Match all photos with GPS tracks from the pull-down menu 3. JetPhoto Studio will add geographical location properties (longitude/latitude) for each of the photos that were tracked with the GPS. JetPhoto Studio finds the track point with logged time that most closely matches the photo capture time. All matched track points will be displayed in the map view, with a point marker corresponding to each matched photo. Each one of the matched photos will have Longitude and Latitude properties assigned. You can check them in the photo information list by selecting the Information Extra Panel, or review the photo location on a map by selecting the Map Extra Panel. Write GPS EXIF After adding or changing Longitude, Latitude, Elevation or Heading properties, you can choose the menu item GPS & Geotag Write GPS EXIF Tags into Files to write the location information into the JetPhoto album copy of JPEG or camera RAW files. Time Calibration Because photographers who bring a GPS receiver sometimes forget to check that the time setting of the camera is the same as that of the GPS receiver, the photo locating results are sometimes inaccurate based on time-synchronised matching. For accurate matching, JetPhoto Studio provides two methods to calibrate photo capture times. You can find two menu items in the Calendar Extra Panel: click the Gear button to choose Time difference retrieve or Capture Time Corrector. Our suggestion is to take a picture of the GPS receiver monitor displaying the standard time 4. From this standard time and the time-stamp in that photo s EXIF data, it s easy to find the time offset between your GPS and your camera. 3 To match just selected photos with GPS tracks, you can also choose Match selected photos with GPS tracks. 4 The GPS always gets standard time from the GPS satellites, and GPS time is always very accurate. But if your GPS unit doesn t have a monitor to display time, you can just find the standard time on your Mac instead (Mac OS X can set date & time automatically synchronised with an accurate Internet time server). Page 30 of 74

In the above sample picture, the time offset is 23 seconds. You need to add 23 seconds to each photo s capture time before matching photos with the GPS tracks. And then, using JetPhoto s Capture Time Corrector, correcting the capture time for all photos in a batch is very easy. Page 31 of 74

Locating photos with waypoints A waypoint is another kind of GPS record; it is a time-location pair with a name. Import waypoints Select the Map tab in the album main window or the Geotag tab in the Extra Drawer, and click the Locate photos with GPS button to display a GPS Logs window. Click the GPS Import... button, and select Import Waypoints/Tracks from GPS Receiver from the pop-up menu to display a dialogue box. Choose your GPS receiver type and connection port, and then select the Download Waypoints option. Click the Import button to download all waypoints from the connected GPS receiver. List waypoints All downloaded waypoints are listed in the GPS Logs window. Click the button with the pencil icon to change the name of a currently selected waypoint. Click the button with the (-) icon to delete the currently selected waypoint. Click the button with the (+) icon to add a waypoint manually (you could first select one photo that has been located on the map to get a starting longitude/latitude coordinate for a new waypoint). Locate photos with waypoint Select photos in Thumbnail view. Click the Manual Locating button in the GPS Logs window, and select Locate photos with selected waypoint from the pull-down menu. JetPhoto Studio will add geographical location properties (longitude/latitude) for the selected photos from the currently selected waypoint. Or, click button Generate KMZ or Generate KML to generate a KMZ or KML file that can be opened with Google Earth. With the checkboxes, you can decide to also show tracks on Google Earth. KML (Mac and Windows) A Google Earth window showing photos and tracks KML is an XML file that can be opened with Google Earth. JetPhoto Studio exports the location information of the photos (and track data) into a specified KML file. This file will be saved on your disc together with the referenced album package. A KML file is only an index file; it doesn t contain any photo data yet. So to share this KML file with others, you must copy both the KML file and the associated album package. KMZ KMZ is a compressed package file that can be opened with Google Earth. JetPhoto Studio exports all location information of the photos (and track data) as well as all referenced photo files into one binary package. So to share this KMZ package, you just need to copy one file. If you use Google Earth version 5, you must make a necessary setting. Open the Preferences/ Options in Google Earth, select the General tab, and enable the option Allow placemark balloons to access local files and personal data. Otherwise the photos may not be shown correctly in Google Earth. Make Google Map web gallery Click the Make Google Map web gallery button to make a dynamic web gallery to link located photos on Google Maps (please refer to Making Google Map Gallery for more details). Alternatively, just select GPS & GeoTag Make Google Map web gallery. Page 50 of 74

A Google Map Gallery Address Lookup (Reverse Geocoding) As well as showing your photos in maps after locating them, you can also choose the menu item GPS & Geotag Address Lookup (Reverse Geocoding) to run an Address Lookup program. This will connect to a Google Maps server and invoke the reverse geocoding services to convert the latitude/longitude data to a human-readable address. Magically, JetPhoto Studio will add photo notes and keywords automatically for your photos! For example, I took a photo in the Stanford University campus. The photo has been located at latitude N º and longitude W º in JetPhoto Studio. Then, the Address Lookup program works to add a photo note and three keywords for the photo automatically: Photo Note: Stanford Memorial Church, Stanford Keywords: Stanford, CA94305, USA Page 51 of 74

GPS Log Manager (Windows only) GPS Log Manager 8 is a special program to manage and preview your GPS tracks and waypoints. All listed waypoints in GPS Log Manager will also appear in a combo list Search the map when you open the Locate Photos on Map window. Backup GPS Logs Normally, if you want to backup the GPS logs or transfer data between different computers, you just need to export the tracks or waypoints into a GPX file, and import this file again to restore the tracks/waypoints. All GPS logs managed by JetPhoto Studio are saved as files in a specified folder on your computer disc. The default location for this folder is the directory My Documents\JetPhoto User Data\GPS Logs, and so you can also freely copy, backup and restore this GPS Logs data folder if preferred. 55 Making Flash Gallery Creating and sharing With only several clicks, JetPhoto Studio can turn your digital photos into a beautiful Flash gallery with a professional look! Standalone Flash JetPhoto Studio can create a Flash-based slideshow with your selected photos, and add crossfade effects for inter-slide transitions. The generated Flash is only one standalone SWF file that contains all the photo clips inside. So it s very easy to copy, and publish it to the web. The standalone Flash file is compatible with Flash version 6; you can play it on a Mac, Windows and Linux with your web browser, Flash player or QuickTime player 9. Deluxe Flash JetPhoto Studio can also make an interactive Flash gallery to display photos as thumbnails or a slideshow. We call it Deluxe Flash. The software saves a Deluxe Flash gallery as a file package with a SWF file and a set of separate JPEG files, which can be played on both Mac and PC using your web browser with Flash 7 or higher version Flash plug-in. See demo There is a file named index.html in the generated Deluxe Flash package. You can also refer to the code of this file to create a customised HTML container in which to embed the Flash gallery file (JetPhotoView.swf). Select photos in Thumbnail view to make a Flash gallery. If nothing is selected, JetPhoto Studio will make all photos in this album into a Flash gallery. 9 On Mac OS X, Flash playback is disabled in QuickTime v7.1 under the default settings. To fix this problem on your Mac, you just need go to your System Preferences, and click the QuickTime item, select the Advanced tab, and then check Enable Flash option. Otherwise the generated SWF file may not be played with the QT-based preview program in JetPhoto Studio. Page 55 of 74

Click the Make Google Map Gallery button, or choose the menu item Create and Share Make Google Map Gallery to display a window in which are all the necessary options for generating a map gallery. (In the Mac version, the Make Google Map Gallery button can be found in the Actions panel, but in the Windows version the Make Google Map Gallery button is in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Create & Share pop-up menu) Change settings for the map gallery being generated, such as Map Zoom Level and the Google Maps API Key 10, etc. Making Phone Wallpaper JetPhoto Studio supports hundreds of models of cell phones and PDAs. It is easy to crop and resize your photos to fit the screen dimension of a mobile device, and carry your photos in your pocket. You can send photos to a mobile via infrared, Bluetooth or WAP. Select a photo in Thumbnail view, or switch the current photo in Detail view. Click the Make Phone Wallpaper button, or choose the menu item Create and Share Make Phone Wallpaper to display a window in which you select your phone model and crop your photo to fit it. (In the Mac version, the Make Phone Wallpaper button can be found in the Actions panel, but in the Windows version the Make Phone Wallpaper button is in the toolbar of the Thumbnail or Detail view pages, in the Create & Share pop-up menu) Choose a mobile device model from the list, or specify a custom screen size. 10 To better understand some concepts here, you can learn more at the Google Maps developer site Page 58 of 74

Using the mouse, adjust the size or position of the selection box in the main picture view to set the cropping area. You can also zoom or rotate the photo displayed in the main picture view: Click one of the buttons in the group Send to Mobile to send the cropped photo to your mobile device via Bluetooth, Infrared or WAP. For the WAP transfer, you will get a PIN after sending. You then need to go to with a mobile Internet browser (or WAP browser) on your phone, and type that PIN there to fetch the phone wallpaper. For Bluetooth or Infrared, your computer must be fitted with the appropriate hardware. Making Wallpaper and Screensaver Presently, making wallpaper and screensaver is only available in JetPhoto Studio Windows version. Make Wallpaper Pick two or three favourite photos, and JetPhoto Studio can generate a beautiful personalised desktop background collage for you. Page 59 of 74

Select 2 or 3 photos in Thumbnail view. Click the Make Wallpaper button, or choose the menu item Create and Share Make Wallpaper to display a settings window. (In the Windows version, the Make Wallpaper button can be found in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Create & Share pop-up menu) In the settings window, select a wallpaper mode. For example, you could make a wallpaper containing a background picture and a two-picture collage (like the one shown above). You can reselect pictures for the wallpaper background and the collage, if necessary Make Screen Saver With JetPhoto Studio, you can turn an album into a screen saver that sequentially presents your photos during your computer s idle time. Open an album in JetPhoto Studio. Click the Make Screen Saver button, or choose the menu item Create and Share Make Screen Saver to display a window. (In the Windows version, the Make Screen Saver button can be found in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Create & Share pop-up menu) In the settings window, select a screen saver program. You could present your photos with Windows XP s pre-installed slideshow program, or a special JetPhoto screensaver program. You can preview the screen-saver before applying it. If you want to disable the screen saver from a JetPhoto album, you need to open the applet Display in Control Panel, and click the Screensaver tab to disable or select other screensaver programs. Note that the screensaver created with this JetPhoto facility will include all the photos in the current album (even if you select just a sub-set). So if you want only a sub-set of the album photos for your screensaver, you ll need to create a new album containing just those desired photos. Page 60 of 74

JetPhoto Server Web album publishing JetPhoto Studio can work with JetPhoto Server to publish complete photo albums to the web. JetPhoto Server is a full-featured digital photo publishing service software using PHP. With JetPhoto Server, you can set up your very own themed photo website very easily and quickly. JetPhoto separates album data storage from page appearance. JetPhoto Server allows you to customise templates for different albums, which will support multiple views (e.g. thumbnail, picture story, Flash-based slideshow, and even custom views designed by you). Album data can be packaged and uploaded by JetPhoto Studio s WebSync program. When the photo album is prepared, you can use WebSync to publish the album on a web server. All uploaded pictures will be resized and watermarked automatically while publishing. Once the album is published on a web server, you can still modify its content in JetPhoto Studio. The online web album will be updated and synchronised with the local album automatically, as long as WebSync is executed again. So all you need is one click! You can also use Website Manager to manage your photo website set web album appearance templates, categories, listing order and access control, etc. Presently, JetPhoto provides two major versions of JetPhoto Server for different users. JetPhoto Server v1 is the basic version that is easy to set up and use, and JetPhoto Server Pro v2 is an advanced version for professional or commercial uses. For connections to JetPhoto Server v1, WebSync uses an FTP interface to upload albums. But, for connections to JetPhoto Server Pro v2, WebSync uses an HTTP interface to upload albums. To learn more about JetPhoto Server, please visit this web page: WebSync Once your photo album is organised, you can use WebSync to synchronously publish the album to a web server with JetPhoto Server software installed. You needn t do anything to upload album files by yourself. WebSync is embedded with FTP and HTTP engines for automatically uploading album files to JetPhoto Server and JetPhoto Server Pro. Click the Web Sync button, or choose the menu item Web Album Web Sync publish album to a JetPhoto Server to display a Web Sync dialog box. (In the Mac version, the Web Sync button can be found in the Actions panel, but in the Windows version the Web Sync button is in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Web Album pop-up menu)!!! NOTE!!! The beginner need only follow Step 1 (below) to understand how to set your JetPhoto Server connection. Page 61 of 74

1 Server Settings Click the Server tab. You need to select a mode to publish the album to JetPhoto Server v1 or JetPhoto Server Pro v2, and enter the connection parameters. If you want to publish albums to JetPhoto Server v1, you need set up an FTP connection account to upload album files. You must first install JetPhoto Server software on a web server, and enable FTP access on it. The Directory setting should be set as the home path of the JetPhoto Server software installed on the Web server. For example, assume you have installed JetPhoto Server to path ~/Sites/jpserver on your local computer. Then the FTP connection account settings should be as below: Server Address: Login name: USERNAME Password: PASSWORD Directory: Sites/jpserver (Assumes the short name of the account to login to your computer is USERNAME, and its password is PASSWORD) If you want to publish albums to JetPhoto Server Pro v2, you need enter your server URL and an editor user account there. Before that, you must install and run JetPhoto Server Pro software on a web server. Then go to the admin pages (Website Manager) on your JetPhoto Server Pro. In Users admin page, add a new user whose permission type is Editor or Administrator, for you to use with WebSync. For example, assume you have installed JetPhoto Server Pro to the web documents path of the web server on your local computer. The settings for a connection to JetPhoto Server Pro would be these: Server Address: Login name: admin Password: (A user named admin is created automatically when JetPhoto Server Pro is first installed, whose default password is ) 2 Resize Settings (optional) Click the Resize tab, and set the size of the pictures that will be included in the published online Web album. As the default settings, JetPhoto Studio will resize each photo to three copies: a thumbnail-size image (128x128), a preview-size image (256x256) and a viewing-size photo with custom size (default is 640x640). Normally, please just keep all settings at defaults if you use JetPhoto Server to publish your photo album to the web. [If your photos are rectangular, the copies will be resized maintaining their aspect ratio, but to fit within the pixel sizes listed above.] Page 62 of 74

3 Watermark Settings (optional) Click the Watermark tab, and set the watermark to be stamped on the online photo copies. You can design the watermark mask image using Photoshop or other image editing software, and save it as a transparent PNG, TIFF or any other general image file (we highly recommend that you save your watermark mask as a PNG file that has an 8-bit alpha channel; GIF is not recommended). Drag the watermark mask file into the box located in the top-left corner of the Watermark pane. Then you can also set the position of the watermark on the stamped photo: choose Top-Left, Top-Right, Center, Bottom-Left or Bottom-Right. When stamping watermarks, JetPhoto Studio will automatically resize the watermark image to fit your target photos. Actually, you can t determine the final size of your watermark on the target photo when you design it. Normally, the size of the watermark image you prepare will be much bigger than the size of the watermark you want to see on the web album photos. Here is a typical setting to make a quality watermark image: Image Size: 512 x 512 pixels Image Format: PNG with alpha (transparent) Image colour mode: 8-bit grey or RGB 4 Advanced Settings (optional) By clicking the Advanced tab, you can find more options if you want to only publish a selection (rather than all) of the photos in the album. For example, you can publish only photos that have been assigned with stars. Finally, click the Synchronise Now! button to publish album photos to your website installed with JetPhoto Server. WebReady WebReady is an alternative method to publish your album to the Web. You could use WebReady to export an album as a file package with a.data filetype, and manually upload Page 63 of 74

this package to your web server later. Your server also needs to have JetPhoto Server software installed, and keep all.data packages in a data folder. Besides Web publishing, WebReady is an individual image utility. WebReady is similar to WebSync, in that it can resize your photos into multiple copies, and add watermarks for your photos (in batches). The exported picture files after resizing and watermarking are saved in a file package that also includes an HTML web page for previewing these photos. Click button WebReady, or choose menu item Web Album WebReady batch resize and add watermarks to show the WebReady dialog box. (In the Mac version, the Web Ready button can be found in the Actions panel, but in the Windows version, a Web Album button can be found in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Web Album pop-up menu) Click the Resize tab, and set the size of the pictures that are to be included in the exported album data package. As the default setting, the exported package includes three copies of each photo: a thumbnail-size image (128x128), a preview-size image (256x256) and a viewing-size copy with custom size (default is 640x640). Click the Watermark tab, and set the watermark to be stamped on the exported photo copies. (For more details about watermarking, please see the specific section in WebSync [above].) Click the Export Now! button to export the album data package onto your desktop. It includes an HTML Web page for album preview, so you can burn this package on CD etc, and send it to someone who can preview the album with a Web browser. Of course, you can also upload this package to the data folder of your JetPhoto Server for full-featured Web publishing. Website Manager After uploading your album data package to the JetPhoto Server s data folder using WebSync or WebReady, you can continue to use Website Manager to manage your photo website. For example, to set the web page appearance for each online album, or to set an access password for the website.!!! NOTE!!! Website Manager for JetPhoto Server v1 and Website Manager for JetPhoto Server Pro v2 are very different. The Website Manager for JetPhoto Server v1 is a program in JetPhoto Studio to remotely manage the server, but the Website Manager for JetPhoto Server Pro v2 is a web-based program integrated in JetPhoto Server Pro. With the Website Manager program in JetPhoto Studio, you can manage a website using JetPhoto Server v1. In this document, we only discuss this Website Manager program. For managing the website using JetPhoto Server Pro v2, you need never use this program. The Page 64 of 74

Website Manager for JetPhoto Server Pro v2 has been integrated with the web pages on your server; you can just login to your JetPhoto Server Pro v2 and go to the admin pages to find it. Click the Website Manager button, or choose the menu item Web Album Website Manager manage a remote JetPhoto Server to display the Website Manager dialogue box. (In the Mac version, the Website Manager button can be found in the Actions panel, but in the Windows version a Web Album button is in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Web Album pop-up menu) Enter the FTP connection account to access your JetPhoto Server. You first need to install JetPhoto Server software on a Web server, and enable FTP access on it. The Directory setting should be set as the home path of the installed JetPhoto Server software on the Web server. Click the Connect button to connect to JetPhoto Server through an FTP connection. All settings information for the connected site is displayed in a Site Info panel. You can edit Site Information, set Access Control and change Site Appearance for your website. All online web albums are listed in the Album List panel. You can set the Appearance Template and Category for each online album, or change their list order. Page 65 of 74

Click the Update button to save the changes in JetPhoto Server. Flickr Flickr is one of the most popular web photo sharing services. JetPhoto Studio is user-friendly software to help Flickr users organise their photos on a desktop computer. JetPhoto Studio allows you to describe photos with notes, or tag photos with keywords. With only one click you can upload selected photos or a whole album onto Flickr. The enclosed Tags and Descriptions will be uploaded with the photos, too. A new uploaded album will appear on Flickr after a short time. Click the Upload to Flickr button, or choose the menu item Web Album Upload to Flickr to begin photo uploading to Flickr. (In the Mac version, the Upload to Flickr button can be found in the Actions panel, but in the Windows version a Web Album button can be found in the toolbar of the Thumbnail view page, in the Web Album pop-up menu) The first time Flickr upload is run, JetPhoto Studio requires your authorisation before it uploads photos to Flickr. Click the Authorize button, and finish the authorising process in your web browser. Page 66 of 74

Return to JetPhoto Studio, and continue to set uploading parameters in the dialogue box, such as image resizing, permission setting etc. And then click the Uploading button. Page 67 of 74

Rotating Photo Editing The most common editing required for photos is rotating. With JetPhoto Studio, you can easily rotate photos anticlockwise or clockwise. Select photos in Thumbnail view or switch the current photo in Detail view. Choose the menu item Edit Rotate Left (or Rotate Right ) to rotate photos 90 degrees counter clockwise (or clockwise). Enhancing The corresponding buttons to rotate photos can be found in the album window top bar (Mac version) or bottom toolbar (Windows version) JetPhoto Studio performs enhancing of image brightness and contrast for photos, automatically with one click. Even if the original photo was taken under incorrect exposure, only one click is needed to quickly enhance picture quality (see sample pictures below). The effect is almost identical to that performed by Auto Contrast in PhotoShop: Select photos in Thumbnail view or switch the current photo in Detail view. Click the Auto Enhance Image button, or choose the menu item Image Process Auto Enhance Image. (In the Mac version, the Auto Enhance Image button can be found in the Edit Extra Panel, but in the Windows version the Auto Enhance Image button is found in the toolbar of the Detail view page) The enhanced photo will never overwrite the original album photo file; instead, it will be saved into the current album as a new photo. Cropping The cropping tool of JetPhoto Studio is quite easy to use. It crops photos by specifying an aspect ratio to fit a 6x4 print, a 7x5 print, a VGA screen, a DVD wide-screen, or others. Select photo in Thumbnail view or switch the current photo in Detail view. Click the Crop Image button, or choose the menu item Image Process Crop Image to show this photo into the Crop Image window. Page 68 of 74

(In the Mac version, the Crop Image button can be found in the Edit Extra Panel, but in the Windows version the Crop Image button is found in the toolbar of the Detail view page) Select a specific aspect ratio or Any Aspect Ratio in the Crop Image window. Using the mouse, you can move or resize the selection to crop the photo. Click the Crop button once you have adjusted the desired cropping. The cropped photo will never overwrite the original album photo file; instead, it will be saved into the current album as a new photo. Adjusting With JetPhoto Studio, it s easy to fix photos for colour balance, brightness, contrast, etc. Also, you can fix a photo s white-balance with Adjust Image. Select a photo in Thumbnail view or switch the current photo in Detail view. Click the Adjust Image button, or choose the menu item Image Process Adjust Image to show this photo in the Adjust Image window. (In the Mac version, the Adjust Image button can be found in the Edit Extra Panel, but in the Windows version the Adjust Image button is found in the toolbar of the Detail view page) You can fix an image s white-balance by sliding the three colour adjustment sliders individually, or enable the Keep Color Balance option to adjust just image brightness (using any one of the three sliders). Contrast can also be adjusted by moving the Contrast slider. Below is a sample where the original photo was taken near sunset, so the sky colour looks too warm (yellow). With the colour/brightness adjustment of the Yellow-Blue channel, the blue sky was quickly returned to its normal colour: Page 69 of 74

Before adjusting After adjusting The adjusted photo will never overwrite the original album photo file; instead, it will be saved in the current album as a new photo. Effects Give Black & White or Sepia effects to your photos. Select photo in Thumbnail view or switch the current photo in Detail view. Page 70 of 74
