This will void all warranties of this capture card. Warning This card contains sensitive electric components, which can be easily damaged by static electricity. Please take extra precautionary efforts, as mentioned below before unpacking and installation. 1. Turn off the PC and unplug power supply. 2. Use a grounded wrist strap before handling computer components. 3. Place components on a grounded antistatic pad or on the bag that came with the components whenever the components are separated from the system. 4. Do not power up the system if there is any damage on the card. 7

(2) The product is not support SiS chipset main board. Suggest Item 1. We suggest recommend that you divide your hard disk into partitions. One partition for installing Windows OS and system software (suggest to 5GB), and the other partition for storing audio/video file and system log data. 2. When formatting hard disk, NTFS should be selected as the file system on both logical drives 3. If your system is set in Firewall, please open network port as 80 and (default, but changeable) before you connect to server from remote site. 9

12 To install the E-Vista capture card: 1. Power off the computer and monitor, and then disconnect the power cable from the back of the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. If necessary, consult the computer manual for help on removing the cover. 3. Locate an empty PCI slot. If necessary, remove the metal cover from this slot; then align the E-Vista capture card with the PCI slot, and press the card down firmly until it is fully inserted. 4. Hold the card in place with a screw. Repeat step 3 and 4 for each capture card. 12
13 5. Put the cover back onto the computer. Plug a video cable into the card; then turn on the computer and monitor. 6. Proceed to the installation of audio and video drivers. 13
14 1.2 Driver Installation Here we suppose the CD-ROM in your system named [E:\]. (Below pictures of installation are introduced with windows 2000 pro, if use other operating systems, procedures are almost the same.) 1. Power up the PC with the E-Vista capture card in a PCI slot. Windows will detect a new video device, and [Found New Hardware] dialogue box will appear. 2. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended), and then click Next. 3. Select Specify a location then click Next. Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive, select the directory [E:\Driver], and click OK. 14
15 4. Click Next. 5. Click Yes. 15
16 6. Click Finish to complete the [Video Device] installation. 7. Windows will detect a new multimedia controller device, and [Found New Hardware] dialogue box will appear. 8. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended) and click Next. 16
17 9. Select Specify a location then click Next. Ensure the installation CD is in the CD-ROM drive, select the directory [E:\Driver], and click OK. 10. Click Next. 17
18 11. Click Yes. 12. Click Finish to complete the [Audio Device] installation. 13. The installation of audio and video drivers is finished. Proceed to install the E-Vista Main Program. If more than one capture card is installed on the PC, repeat step 1 to 10 above for each of the remaining card. 18
19 14. After the drivers are installed, look under the [Device Manager], [Audio Device] and [Video Device]. If you use E-Vista 300 series. Each capture card should have one [Audio Device] and one [Video Device]. If you use E-Vista 500 series. Each capture card should have four [Audio Device] and four [Video Device]. Make sure the number of device matches the number of card installed in the system. 19
20 1.3 E-Vista Main Program Installation Please put E-Vista CD into CD-ROM, then it will auto run. Just according to the installation procedures below: (Example for E-Vista 2.3.2_V516P) Note: If insert E-Vista CD into the CD-ROM but it does not auto run, please click My Computer CD-ROM Autorun.exe to install. 1. Click Next. 20
21 2. Please read the following License Agreement. Click Next to accept the agreement, or click Cancel to stop the installation. 3. Please select video system. 4. Choose whether or not to create desktop icons for E-Vista DVR System, Media Player, and Remote Control Center. Click Next to continue the installation. 21
22 5. Click Install to begin installing E-Vista DVR System. 6. Upon completion, select Yes, restart the computer now to reboot the computer. 1.4 Uninstall E-Vista Main Program To remove E-Vista Main Program, click Start Programs E-Vista 2.3.2_V516P Remove E-Vista. Note: Event logs, system setup files and recorded images will not be removed. 22
23 1.5 Starting The E-Vista Main Program Please adjust your system configuration the same with example below. Click the right key of mouse, and click Properties, set system configuration as we recommend. The default value is according to the pictures below: Step1 Step5 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 23
24 Step 6 Step 7 Note: (1) The Main Program only supports 1024*768 resolutions. (2) If you use Windows XP OS, please close the item Start Setting Control Panel System System Restore When setting OK, You can start E-Vista Digital Surveillance System now. 24
25 Chapter 2 E-Vista Main Program Operation Instruction 2.1 E-Vista Main Screen Instruction Main Menu System Condition Bar System Condition Bar Function Bar Full Screen Minimize Close User Login When you start E-Vista main program, the system will ask the user to login correct name and password. First time to start E-Vista, the user s name is [Admin], password is empty. After that, please just click OK to start system. Note: The default system User Name is Admin ; first letter A must be capital letters and others are lowercase letters. 25
26 2.1.2 View Selection Click button to open or close the view 1 to 16. Gray means close. Green means open. You can click hot key [1 ~ 9 0] to independently separate open or close the view 1 to 10; [Shift + 1 ~ 6] to independently open or close the view 11 to System Condition Bar Show the system condition Function Bar (Record): Open all views to record. System wills auto-memory the previous record condition for every view. (Stop): Stop all recording. (Media Player): To View the recorded Media File be. Play any file. You can open many windows of different cameras for user to read many files. When you user open multi-media play program, windows interfaces are overlaid. Just drag windows to watch. (Channel Setup): Open Channel / Camera Setup interface. Please see P43. (System Setup): Open System Setup interface. Please see P45. 26
27 (Event View): Open event files. Ex: Trigger Alarm, Start Recording, System Start etc Full Screen, Minimize, Close Full Screen. You can also use hot key [Alt + F] to transfer to full screen. Click [Esc] or [Alt + F] to return main screen. Minimize main program to windows task work bar. When alarm be triggered or cameras signals loss, this icon will alarm user by [twinkling]. Close E-Vista Main Program Disk Status Shows left space of disk and file quantities. 27
28 2.1.7 Screen Control Tile screen to average small windows. Tile screen to focus windows and the others are small ones. Shows in a single window Sequence Control Previous view. Auto sequence to view all monitoring images. Next view Date / Time Display system date and time LOGO announcement below: Click this icon; it presents software information and the copyright 28
29 View Condition Description [Fig.1] No camera or video signal interruption. [Fig.2] User disconnects or without install Capture Card. The disconnected views can remote display. [Fig.3] Green camera name on northwest means the video is from local site. [Fig.4] Yellow camera name on northwest side means the video is from remote site. 29
30 2.2 Pop-up Menu Instruction Close (Record in secret) This closes the view box of the selected channel and stops the video images from being displayed on the monitor. Even though the video is not shown, it is still being recorded Close and Stop Record This closes the view box and stops the recording session for the selected channel Connect / Disconnect These will connect/disconnect the selected channel from the video source. As mentioned earlier, each channel can be connected to a local or remote server. To change the video source, first disconnect from the source and then make changes at the Source/Connection Setup menu. Please see P. 30
31 2.2.4 Connect (Specifying login user) If there is password protection for the E-Vista server whose view you want to browse, you should login correct user s name and password. Note: System can auto-memory your previous connection. If the previous login is anonymous, then system will connect directly. If password is necessary, E-Vista can t auto connect to remote because password protection Start / Stop Audio Channel Click here to start audio from the view, it doesn t affect audio recording. This means open Start / Stop PTZ Control (require hardware to cooperate) If your camera has support PTZ function, then you can up down left zoom in and zoom out your camera by software etc. 31
32 2.2.7 Record Continuously Select this function, E-Vista will record 24hrs everyday Record Motion Run motion detection recording. Start this function. E-Vista only records when video image changed (be triggered) in detection area. It records full screen, not only recording video of detection area. Example: We set recording rate in no motion is 3fps, 6fps on motion. Trigger threshold is 10. The recording rate is 3fps when motion detection area didn t be triggered. When image movement over trigger threshold, the recording rate will become 6fps. [Fig.1] Motion 0, it presents trigger threshold under 10, motion record doesn t be triggered and system recording rate is 3fps now. [Fig.2] Motion 16, it presents trigger threshold exceed 10, motion record doesn t be triggered and system recording rate is 6fps now Stop Recording Select this to stop continuously recording or stop motion detection recording Media Player Please see P Setup A. 33 C. Reset Motion Detection Area Instead of the previous motion detection area rectangle, click here motion detection area will extend to whole view. D. Setup Motion Detection Area Use your mouse to click on your screen, hold the left key of mouse, to drag a rectangle for your motion detection area. You can set Multiple Detection Area on motion record status. Enter [Channel / Camera Setup], click the option Multiple Detection Area, user can set 256 detection areas. [Step1] Click Set Motion Detection Area [Step2] Default detection area. [Step3] Self-Change detection area. [Step4] Click Stop Setting Motion Detection Area. 33

Remote Cancel Alarm When you remote surveillance from local server, the remote trigger alarm shows at your local screen with red [x] twinkling, you can cancel alarm from local server or call police immediately. 2.3 Main Menu Instruction About E-Vista About the program of E-Vista and the copyright announcement. 34
35 2.3.2 Tool Windows A. Media Player Channel Select Time Search Image File Select Function Bar Channel Select You can use to choose which channel to browse. After your selection, the screen will show the image of the channel. Time Search Key in date ( year month day ) or time ( hour minute second ) to search which file to browse. Image The file you choose is playing for browsing, more information on the screen are camera name, date and time. File Select After camera selection, it will show the files for choosing. Date and time are the beginning of the file; length is the file s length. 35
36 Function Bar Connect to: This function provides you to get remote files from local server without download, connecting to remote server directly. Click this button, the screen shows. Note: Only authorities level 0, 1, and 2 can connect to remote computer. [Remote Server]: To key in remote IP. Note: In LAN: Input Computer: demo or Virtual IP: X.X. In WAN: Input Real IP: X.X or Domain Name: [User Name]: Input remote providers name. [Password]: Input remote provider s password. After above correct key-in, the Media player will connect to the remote E-Vista server, and you can browse remote files. Note: Only privilege level 0 or 1 can download recorded files when user had being login to remote server. 36
37 Reload: Searching for any new file and arranging all the files by date. Snapshot: During playback to snapshot a picture, save as BMP or JPEG format to print, or store at other device. The file can edit by other image editing software. Like figure below: Save file: Copy the whole file or retrieve only one section Note: Recording file can t be copied or retrieved. [Path Filename]: Click Browse to change file storage path and file name. [Copy the Whole File]: Copy the whole file to pointed storage path. [Retrieve only One Section]: Retrieve only one section from a certain time to a certain time and save to a pointed path. 37
38 [Progress]: When the blue bar goes end, it means copy the whole file or retrieve only one section is completed, the numbers after the blue bar shows file s volume. Delete file: Delete the file what you pick Event Browser: Find out how many events occur in the video file that you select, when user double-click the event, player will jump to assigned position. Event Filter: Find out how many events occurs in all video file of one channel that you selected, when user double-click the event, player will jump to assigned position. 38
39 Seek backward: Backward play video in different rate(1/4x 4x 10x 30x) Play backward: Use regular speed backward file to play. Pause: Click this button to stop playing, re-press this button or Click button to proceed playing. Play: Play file in regular speed. Seek forward: Backward play video in different rate(1/4x 4x 10x 30x). Previous frame: When you press this button, the playback method is image to image, and the player condition is pause. You have to press playback for normal speed. Next frame: When you press this button, the play method is image to image, and the player condition is pause. You have to press play for normal speed. Seek Begin: Move video index to begin. Seek End: Move video index to end. 39
40 B. Recording Scheduler Use recording scheduler to setup recording term and recording mode as your wish. [Connect]: Connect to E-Vista of remote site and set it s Recording Scheduler by local E-Vista system. Note: Only privileged level 0 (highest), 1 can login to remote computer. [Enable]: Click Enable to start recording scheduler [ADD]: Add a new scheduler. [Modify]: Modify the setup of recording scheduler. [Close]: Close recording scheduler. 40
41 C. User Manager You can add or delete user and setup user s privilege level and password. [Connect]: Connect to E-Vista of remote site and set it s User Manager by local E-Vista system. Note: Only privileged level 0 (highest), 1 can login to remote computer. [Add User]: Login user name and setup privilege levels, 0 (highest), 1, 2, 3 (lowest). [Delete User]: If you want to delete user, just click on the user s name and click Delete User button 41
42 [Set Password]: If you want to setup password, just login new password and confirm password then click OK. If you want to cancel password, let the two bars empty then click OK. [Close]: Close user manager. D. Event View Display information about system event (trigger alarm, starting record, and system start time etc.) 42
43 2.3.3 View Management A. Display Detail Information Display camera name, recording rate, and motion detection area and trigger threshold etc. B. Source / Connection Setup 43
44 Local Server / Remote Server / Id Name Signal source can be local server or remote server, Local Server means signal is from local site. Remote Server/Id Name means the signal is from network, It have to input IP address of remote server. Note: In LAN: Input Computer: demo or Virtual IP: X.X. In WAN: Input Real IP: X.X or Domain Name: Port Number Assign you network port, the default is Look up from Name Serve When click this option on, you can connect to remote server through Name Server and the content of Remote Server/ID Name is have to be Compute Name of remote server. Channel Number Display video image to which camera assigned. Every channel number can be change by your own. Each channel displays video image of the camera. Requesting Video Format Video format receive from image. When select local server, video format display with original data (uncompressed). When you select remote server, you have two video format requests. One is Motion JPEG (slow but better video quality); the other is MPEG-4 / Selectable VCM Encoder (fast but worse video quality). Frame Rate You can setup the channel how many video frames per second (0~30) to receive from remote server. When you receive video and audio together from remote server through network, if the audio is not satisfied, you could adjust this frame rate less to provide more bandwidth for audio. Stream Buffer Time (Similar butter) If your network is unstable, you could set stream buffer time (0.1 ~ 3 sec) to get a better quality to playback. 44
45 2.3.4 Setup A. Channel / Camera Setup Name Camera name. Input letters or numbers whatever you like. Description Describe the utility of channel. 45
46 Video Recording Quality It depends on your need. Range is 0 ~ 100. Setup level higher to get better quality but huge file; lower level saves file volume but worse quality. Recording Frame Rate And Time [Continuous]: Set recording rate as continuous recording. (0 ~ 30 fps) [On Motion]: Set recording rate as on motion of motion record. (0 ~ 30fps) [No Motion]: Set recording rate as no motion of motion record. (0 ~ 30fps) [Sensor]: Set recording rate as sensor be triggered. (0 ~ 30fps) [Pre Record]: Set recording period before object into area. (0 ~ 5sec) Note: Pre Record will hold enormous memory. Please make sure your main memory is above 512MB before turn this option on. [Post Record]: Continuous recording when object left detection area. (0 ~ 20sec) Motion Detection [Trigger Threshold]: Setup the sensitivity of Motion detection, range is 0 ~ 1000 levels, (lower level is more sensitive). If trigger is higher than setup level it means in motion; lower means no motion. [Noise Filter]: When the noise filter comes too much from camera, the trigger threshold will start. You can setup a higher noise filter rate to reduce alarm triggered by noise filter. [Multiple Detection Area]: Set multiple detection area 1 to 256. Video / Audio Adjustment Each channel you can adjust Hue, Contrast, U Saturation, V Saturation, Brightness and Volume, also you can go back to choose HW Default. Note: Here the volume means audio coming from microphone. Record Audio You can choose whether you want to record audio at this channel. If the channel doesn t support audio recording the option will be gray (unelectable). Recycled Recording This function can t cancel. When hard-drive capacity is lower than Least Free Disk Space, system will delete the earliest file automatically. The system won t be Stop Record because of hard-drive space not enough. 46
47 Enable Event Sound If you do not pick this function, it will not burst out event alarm when motion detection area triggered. Allow Network Access You can select whether providing this function for remote browse of surveillance channel. Notification The channel you set up motion detection, when triggers, you can choose sending or not. Water Mark Click this function; the watermark is together with all the recording files. So that nobody could amend any video file. 47
48 B. System Setup Server Network [Computer Name]: The name of E-Vista system, if enable name server registration, this name will upload to Name Server. [Computer Description]: Descriptions of this computer s utilities and applications [Network Port Number]: Assign to your network port number, default is Video Setup NTSC: 320* *480 PAL: 320* * * *576 (Higher resolution has higher hardware requirement and image size.) 48
49 Slower Video Capture Choose this function to get better work if your surveillance images appear little shaking. Note: If you do this still can t get better work, please check cameras and signal resources. Audio Setup You have 3 choices CD (44.1 KMHz), FM (22.05 KMHz) and Phone ( KMHz). Higher sampling rate has bigger size of file. Storage Server Setup [Storage Path 1 ~ 4]: You can setup four storage paths, when first one is full, it will store to next one. System pre-setup at C:\storage, we suggest user to change path to D or other disc, to keep the space of C for operating system. User also can put the storage path to MAP Network Drive through Internet, \\ + Computer Name + \ + Folder Name. Example: \\WS2\storage. [Backup Path]: This function is similar to Mirror; it can automatically copy a whole file to pointed path for safe storage. The path can be local drive or network drive. Note: The disk capacity of backup path must more than local drive; so that consciously 49
50 C. System Setup Codec Quick JPEG Encode and Quick MPEG 4 Encode Click here, you can reduce CPU s burden but get worse video quality. Recording MPEG 4 Key Frame Interval and Network MPGE 4 Key Frame Interval Key Frame is related with single-frame-play when playback. Set the value bigger as video signal change doesn t heavily. Video files will smaller. Network MPEG 4 / VCM Video Quality Setup the video quality when delivering through Network. Range from 0 ~ 100. If you want a better video quality, you need a higher level and a better bandwidth. 50
51 D. System Setup Alarm Auto Cancel Alarm Sound Time (Sec) You can setup how many seconds to cancel alarm sound after alarm triggered. (0 ~ sec) Over Recycle Trigger Time (hr) When the storage day lower than trigger time, system will generate an alarm message to notify that system is preparing to recycled recording. Enable Video Loss Alarm You can enable this video loss alarm. When video loss happen, system will alarm and the main screen will twinkle to notice user of video loss alarm. 51
52 E. System Setup Miscellaneous Auto Sequence Time (sec) You can setup auto sequence time from 1 to 60 seconds, we pre-setup 5 seconds. Partitioned Recording Interval (min) You can setup your partitioned recording interval from 1 to 1440 minutes, we pre-setup 240 minutes. Least Free Disk Space (MB) You can setup the lease free disk space; we suggest you keep 500MB or more space.
